I've had it since it came out and I never found it worth the cost to me. Even with the "new" model, it's still not worth it to me.
In my case most of what they offer I already have, and vast majority of stuff they offer that I don't own is stuff I'm not interested in. Not to mention that you're merely renting these games if you download them for free through PS+. I'm not a renter. I'm a buyer.
The free themes and avatars mean little to me as pretty much all of them haven't appealed to me.
The discounts are nice, if you're interested in the games in which the discounts apply. In my case, I haven't been. Or I already own that game, or it's a full retail game, in which case I opt for the hard copy.
As you can see, in my case, PS+ is basically a waste. I don't rent anything. Ever. Not a movie. Not a game. I buy what I'm interested in. The discounts rarely have applied to anything I care about.
My ultimate problem with PS+ is that I'm forced to "enjoy" what Sony tells me I can. This makes the service of value to some, and not so much for others.
I'm not a Netflix subscriber, but I know that Netflix doesn't force me to only watch what they say I can. I pay my fee and I can watch what I want, when I want. Nobody wants to be told what they can watch, so why does Sony think we want to be told what we can play? Doesn't add up to me.
Instead of telling us what's on sale how about giving us a discount that we can apply to what we want? That would make the service valuable to everybody, unlike the current model. That would get a lot of us to buy games from their service. Win win, as I see it.
Unless a big change occurs within the next 3 months, I'm done with PS+.
