I noticed there were no threads addressing this topic and I'm kinda curious:

For those who disliked the previous offering, what are your thoughts on the new model? Would you consider subscribing now?

NO! I had PS+ for a month free and didn't find anything to download. Most of the PS3 games I already own on disc and most free games like the SEGA Genesis titles I already own on Genesis. All I did was download free avatars and themes.

I've had PS+ since day one and have enjoyed every day of it. This deal is even better than what was offered at the beginning.

I've had it since it came out and I never found it worth the cost to me. Even with the "new" model, it's still not worth it to me.

In my case most of what they offer I already have, and vast majority of stuff they offer that I don't own is stuff I'm not interested in. Not to mention that you're merely renting these games if you download them for free through PS+. I'm not a renter. I'm a buyer.

The free themes and avatars mean little to me as pretty much all of them haven't appealed to me.

The discounts are nice, if you're interested in the games in which the discounts apply. In my case, I haven't been. Or I already own that game, or it's a full retail game, in which case I opt for the hard copy.

As you can see, in my case, PS+ is basically a waste. I don't rent anything. Ever. Not a movie. Not a game. I buy what I'm interested in. The discounts rarely have applied to anything I care about.

My ultimate problem with PS+ is that I'm forced to "enjoy" what Sony tells me I can. This makes the service of value to some, and not so much for others.

I'm not a Netflix subscriber, but I know that Netflix doesn't force me to only watch what they say I can. I pay my fee and I can watch what I want, when I want. Nobody wants to be told what they can watch, so why does Sony think we want to be told what we can play? Doesn't add up to me.

Instead of telling us what's on sale how about giving us a discount that we can apply to what we want? That would make the service valuable to everybody, unlike the current model. That would get a lot of us to buy games from their service. Win win, as I see it.

Unless a big change occurs within the next 3 months, I'm done with PS+.

I've had it since its inception and I have downloaded games for free that I otherwise would not have bothered to play, such as Shank 2. I like the thought of getting free games that I passed on initially. Having said that, just like nyc05, I buy hard copies of games I want, such as Infamous 2 and don't want to have games like that hogging up my hdd.

PS+ is 50/50. I did not care for it in the beginning, but I decided to get it a few months back and I am liking it a lot.

for the ppl saying they had it for only ONE MONTH, well no wonder u didnt have a good experience with it. if u going to get ps+ its better to have it for a full year. ill admit even certain months feel somewhat dry and dont have good games, but usually in the upcoming months they make up for it. ps+ has been well worth it since day one that i got it, i have saved on so many games, games that i wanted to buy but got for free thank god and i didnt enjoy em so money saved. all these discounts i get on stuff i want ( not all the time ) on dlcs and games i really want is well worth the price. and now this month till end of the year we getting all this ps3 full games, infamous 2, lbp 2, just cause 2. ps+ is a awesome feature from sony and im glad im part of it. i have been saving a lil over 500 this past 2 years maybe more

I've been a subscriber since day one and I never thought you were always getting as much bang for your buck as you were led to believe. You may technically get $300(ish) worth of content a year but if I was asked to pay a price based on the quality of the content, I wouldn't have offered much more than the annual subscription fee of £40/$60. That said, all told, I do believe it is worthwhile just because there are some real gems from month to month such as the whole Crash Bandicoot PS collection at one point which ultimately proves PS Plus to be worthwhile. And given the Plus leaders are trying to replace Minis and PS1 classics with full on PS3 titles, I think PS Plus will only prove only more worthwhile.

I had it for 3 months to use the Online Storage for when I was swapping HDDs, and I enjoyed it. I miss having it, but I don't want to pay for it right now. It's too bad I've all ready played Infamous 2, LBP2, and Saints Row 2 or I'd definitely go ahead and buy a year of it. I might eventually try a whole year of it, but right now I'm not seeing too much that interests me.

I've been a member since launch too and while I've definitely recieved my money's worth, this new model impresses me even more. Though considering I own 150+ retail games I probably won't be getting as much value for my subscription compared to others. More likely than not, I would have already played the majority of Sony's monthly offerings. Regardless, it's a sweet deal for those with few games or those on a tight budget and I'd honestly prefer even a single full retail release per month over a couple of PSN titles.

Nothing there interests me. Had it for four months in total and the only real value I got it from it was the reduced warranty and reduced cost of some minis.

Although I give Sony credit, even though they're bleeding money, they still haven't forced us to pay to go online.

cloud saves are cool. free games are cool...discounts are cool...but if they discounted every game, it would make it worth it imo...i dont think the selling point should be the games...it should be crazier features

I got a big HD but I hear ya, if things go all digital in the future, I'm going to need a several terrabyte HD. I thought 2 months ago was killer with Trine 2 but I'm blown away by todays offerings. Even though I have half my HD full, I hate to delete good games on occasion.

I downloaded my fair share a bit ago. HDD can't handle it so I only kept Infamous 2 and deleted the rest. They're saved to my downloads list so I can save them for later. :D

Had it for 16 months and didn't get much out of it. Cloud saves were really nice but when I had PS+ and even now there has been not a single piece of content, free or discounted that I really wanted. Even with the new full games I already have Infamous 2, LBP2 and would never touch Saints Row 2. Thats the biggest problem I think is that it is very rare that something releases at a discount for PS+. So all the stuff I buy day one is discounted later and all the stuff I decide to wait for a better price never gets discounted. I also have some codes for free months but nothing has come along to make me use it.

Hate is a strong word. I dislike it mainly because it offers very little content at discounted prices that I'm interested in, so I wouldn't subscribe to the new updated version.

I certainly don't hate it, I'm sure it's a great deal for people who like to play a lot of PSN games. It's just not for me because I don't. I wouldn't mind the cloud storage thing, but a USB stick and a quick file copy at the end of each evening works pretty well for me. I am interested in Infamous 2 and Just Cause 2, but I can get them both from Amazon for less than the cost of a year's worth of PS+, so I'll take that route.

Jeebus. I never thought I'd have to be careful with a 250GB model. Darksiders is 10GB, does anyone know how much space VF5 & LBP 2 take?

It started off slow at first but getting the old Resident Evils and Crash Bandicoots made it worth it now a few PS3 retail games makes it feel a good investment.

VF5 is 2.5 I think, LBP2 is around 6-8.

R&C All 4 One is 14 freaking gigs.

I'm not sure what to do. I was really close to getting LBP 2 Special Edition for $30, but also holding out to see if it gets cheaper, since it's been out a while. I don't own Move, so the most valuable extras would be useless to me. PS+ seems really tempting because I don't own even one of these games -- due mainly to the fact that I buy games when they're dirt cheap.

I think PS+ is the best value either for people who have been using their PS3 nainly for a media center/Blu-Ray player or for those on a budget. It's surprising to me that people complain about these games being rentals -- as if Sony would be able to get publishers to agree to giving their games away to a ton of users permanently at $50/year. To me, calling it 'renting' isn't exactly the right word. I imagine that most people who are subscribed to the service now will keep paying for it if they bought it mainly for the games. I've been following PS+ a little closer in the past year and it seems like Sony definitely stepped up the quality of their offerings.

I got it tuesday before the store update and got all of the old I wanted and then all the new stuff I wanted.

I don't have enough money to buy a lot of games so this works well for me.

I've had my PS3 since Christmas and only had two games I liked, until now.

I don't buy enough content to really warrant having PS+. I also usually play multiple games over extended periods of time, so unless I really get hooked in a game the rotating freebies isn't really for me.

Not all that thrilled with losing content when you drop the service either, the way I look at it, you're paying them to have access to those "free" downloads.

I would like PS+ more if I could keep the games I got for free without having to continue to subscribe to the service.

I know they can't afford to do that for people doing a monthly thing, but if you subscribe for a year you should be able to keep the games you "bought". Even if it means paying a small fee or something.

Not a fan of PS+ and i'll never pay for it. Sure for some it's awesome. I know a few people who always rave about it. I however hate the fact that once your subscription ends you can't play the free games again. So technically your just renting the games, they are not actually free.
