Well, earlier in the week I posted how Call of Duty 4 seemed to be the cause of breaking my disc reader. Well today my friend brought his PS3 over to my house and we go to play some online when his PS3 freezes just like mine did. So Call of Duty was in when my other friends PS3 broke 2 monthes ago, it was in when mine broke last week, and was in when my friend who brough his over broke...I'm seeing a trend in Call of Duty 4 breaking PS3s and making them unable to read discs...Am i just really unlucky or is this a trend?fatboyDanny
unlucky
Call of Duty was probably just the game that was in your PS3 most often. I know that's how it is in my house. Thus, the odds of the PS3 breaking with CoD4 in it are FAR greater than the odds of it breaking with CoD4 NOT in the system.
CoD4 does not break the disc drive on the PS3.

Yea, thats logical. I dont know, its just really weird that it has happened to three times at the exact same screen...Oh well, I just hope my new PS3 doesnt break again, i'd be pissed.
It's just a disc. It's not like Infinity Ward programmed something on the disc to break your PS3.

Or did they...

Perhaps, Infinity ward is working with Microsoft to take over the world. The first step - get rid of Sony.

zed oh em gee!
Now hypothetically could a game "react" so poorly to the PS3 loosing online connectivity that it locked the PS3? For example it continously loads stuff etc and if it looses the connection to online (which the PS3 does a lot more frequent than my computer) it messes up the HD in a way that other games doesn't?
Not saying COD4 does this just wondering outloud if it could be possible...
and yea..i was being sarcastic with "stop playing cod4 or else'' :DfatboyDanny
It's a little late for that, I think.
What I don't understand is if this ridiculous COD4 rumor has influenced so many, why can't I get my rumor about Home bricking PSPs during remote play off the ground? It's no less plausible.

its because EVERY ps3 ive heard about stopped reading discs because of cod4, but i think it have more to do with that cod4 is by far the most played game by those people that own it :p

CommanderTy
Or did they...
It is a conspiracy!!!!Just as Home is a conspiracy to take over people's lives.
Commander will be forced to work just so he can afford electricity to keep his house running to play Home.
When Home comes out, CommanderTy's life is over. God save this man. (Go to your Home forum and confess your sins)
Seriously, though. If anybody asks, the public Home beta started last Thursday. And once you've loaded the firmware that comes with Home, you can't use remote play until they release a patch, or it'll brick your PSP.
And if they ask how/where you get the Home firmware update, change the subject.

Private home beta. If it was public, Commander would not have posted. He would be playing Home.

you haven't been here long enough to make that judgement, there were alot of people complaining about many launch titles claiming that they "broke there PStriple"
like that person said before, it's just that CoD4 is the most likely the game to be in it.
When MGS4 comes out, I predict "OMG MGS BREAKS MY PS3!"

VERY unlucky, dont blame the game nub
[QUOTE="LuckyLy"]I don't know about you guys but I'm experiencing ONE small tiny problem with COD 4 online. My custom class name don't display. Is anyone else having the same problem?
savinger
it does that eventually, you should go Rename them, silly
o.o if I rename them again it will eventually disappear? That's weird.
I stopped playing that game long ago. It's just boring now..
But, it doesn't sound like it's because of COD4. It's just a regular case of bad luck... Or, someone is not taking good enough care of their systems (sounds more like THAT to me)
Just sounds like bad luck. I never had any problems with CoD4 other than crappy servers that time out.KamuiFeiMe neither
