A topic not many fans have spoke on. Will the NGP use the Memory Stick Duo sticks? Will the turn to SD cards? Many gamers will be transferring their PSP 1000, 2000, 3000 & PSP Go Catalogs over to the new handheld. Can we the gamers use our old Memory Stick Duo or what? Will Sony eventually upgrade from 32GB to 64GB? What is your opinions on this matter?Coolyfett
I`m pretty sure Sony stated that they`re using a new kind of memory stick for the PSP2. It sucks since it would have been nice to use my MSD cards, but as long as it has a faster transfer rate, I guess I`ll be fine. And I definitely think Sony will upgrade to a stick with a higher capacity than 32GB. I mean, today, even a 2GB would be considered small, and if you like to hold a lot of videos and music, an 8GB is practically a minimum.
Hopefully Sony will have a MemoryStick duo compatiable storage media? Sony may stick with the memory stick micro that is for the PSP Go. Or Sony may introduce a New version of the Memory Stick Duo or Memory stick micro. Hopefully it will be at least 32GB. I wish Sony would go with a 64GB at launch?

Sony and SD have worked closesly to make the theoretical 2TB memory stick available sometime in the future. Sony are very well equiped with knowledge in the flash memory space and along side SD they take a lot (if not most) of the market of flash cards; from MS pro duo to Micro SD.
Much of the talks from Sony indicate there will be a new memory stick, card or , micro model developed for storing general user data.

That sucks. I guess we have to just transfer the files for MSD onto PSP2 compatible memory sticks.Well, apparently the UMD is finally dead, and I just need to get used to this fact of life. Guess that's what they mean by "getting old" LOL! Isn't it funny though how the cartrige-based systems that started it all (Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, SEGA Core and Genisis... and that's just the ones that MADE IT OVER HERE from Japan) had the right idea, but their "memory cards" were 100 times larger? ....Hmmmm. I remember when you could be dirt-poor, couldn't afford a system, and get ahold of a quarter, and even YOU could play a really kick-a$$ game!!! We've come a LOOONNGGG way, baby!!! :o)

Our concerns are over. The NGP Will Be using the Memory Stick Duo we are familiar with. Coolyfett agrees they should do away with 2GB & 4GB storage. Storage should start at 8GB, especially with handheld moving closer to digital downloads. They'll use a completely different proprietary format, requiring people to upgrade like they did with the PSP Go.DJ_LaeDJ Lae, there is some confusion. The propritory storage you speak of is the games themselves. The gamecards that are replacing the UMDs. The NGP will not have internal flash memory, but will have the Memory Stick Duo slote we PSP gamers are familiar with. Sony finally addressed it yesterday. The game cards & memory sticks are TWO different forms of storage.
BIGGEST FAIL BY SONY is that NGP WILL NOT use SD cards. But even beyond that fail is that they won't even use Memory Stick Duo cards. Correct me if I'm wrong, show me proof. Beacuse I have proof that Memory Stick Duo cards aren't going to be used.
Watch this video (I was super nice and directly linked to the part where he talks about it....)

Notice how he says they are developing a new memory system. He doesn't say that they will use memory stick duo (which is already developed and accessible). This is a huge fail by Sony. Seriously, every device in the world uses SD cards, but Sony has to be prikks and use their own proprietary storage device and charge insane amounts of money. Does anyone remember when the PSP first came out? A 4gb memory stick duo was as expensive as a PS3.
64 GB should be the next standard, the industry needs to kill off 1gb & 2gb flash. Those are like baby cards now. 4gb should be the industry minimum. Coolyfett says it may be hard to fit 64 gb on memory stick micro though. The NGP should be using Memory Stick Duo though.Hopefully Sony will have a MemoryStick duo compatiable storage media? And I'm glad it is i really hated the UMD. UMDs used up power, had lower memory capacity and they increased loading times. I'm expecting to hear that battery life will no longer be a problem. Even 5 hours minimum is good with me, and we no longer have to wait 20 seconds per loading screen, not to mention we could potentially be looking at game cartridges that can be up to 64gb or however high they chose because usually game cartridges are relatively similar to SD cards. It was worth it on the PSP but unecessary. I think the reason Sony used UMDs in the first place was because they wanted to be original and not do what Nintendo was doing but I don't think any one would have minded. I sure as hell wouldn't.I'm gonna assume some built in and some kind of memory stick...LetsPlayerThe Sony NGP has NO internal memory on either model. NGP users have to used flash storage. Many PSP gamers use 8GB - 32GB Memory Stick Duo Pro cards. Sony IS making new memory but its the same form factor as the Memory Stick Duo Pro. The new storage is called Memory Stick XC & shares the same form factor Sony people are familiar with.

We still don't know what type of Memory Stick the NGP will use, even IF there is a good chance it will use the Memory Stick XCs.
