Strange mixed feelings PS3 vs Xbox360

I am a mature gamer and play a lot of games. I have both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

My impressions so far is that the Xbox has more and better games than the PS3 and I think the Sony folks are really annoyed at Halo, Gears, Bioshock etc because they are really good games. Good gameplay and really good looking. Even worse is the fact that many cross platform games comes out later for the PS3 and are looking worse(my impressions is that the games often are sharper looking and have less framerate issues) and for my part this is a serious issue. The network play is also better on Xbox with Marketplace coming to Europe(I am European)before Sonys music and movie service(if it comes at all. There is something very strange about Sony beeing so late to get that part of the internet service tikking)

Despite this; I would really like the PS3 to start moving. I like the PS3 much better than the Xbox despite what I mentioned above. I can not really explain why, but so it is. I guess I am a Sony man because a long time ago I changed from Nintendo to Playstation(because the games looked, were sharper,and played better on Playstation 1 rather than the Nintendo console), I then had PS2 and now PS3.

Ok I have a long Sony history, but that does not explain my passion for the PS3. I will admit that it is so sexy looking is helping a lot. It has that Sony look, which is cool, both the machine and the interface(xmb), and I like to surf the internet. I am always waiting for the new awsome thing/product that will show up that escalates the sales of the machine, but nothing has happened yet. It is a bit difficult since I own both machines, comparisons between the machines are made regardless.

In short; I think Xbox has the best product(the totalpack,cheap hardware, games, internetserviceetc)in many ways, but I still prefer the PS3. This is confusing and the answer to this is probably that I am brainwashed by Sony. It should not matter since I have both machines.I could have said that I do not care because of this, but I do. I want Sony to succed.

I feel the same man,my 360's getting way more attention atm especially with halo 3 out tomorrow. Hopefully 2008 will be sonys year *fingers crossed*

i have both aswel and i know exactly what you mean..

but the ps3 will have its own good games and that is what im going to be playing on it..multiplats will be always for me played on the other console...

get both and enjoy them...

I can respect your view on this one, but you have to remember a couple of things.

The 360 has been out for a year longer than the PS3, so its obvious that it got the best games first, while we're only getting them now on the PS3. About multiplatform games so far they have been optimized to the inferior machine first and then ported to the PS3... so its obvious why they would look better so far on the 360. And about you favouring Sony, thats maybe because you realize they are allways trying to be one step ahead and bring you something new. Oh and not only that but I'm sure you're also waiting for all those exclusives we allways loved and made us buy a PS3 without giving a 2nd thought like MGS, Final Fantasy, Tekken, etc...

I did read your whole post and I did see that you favor the PS3 (or should I say the whole PS-family) and I still didn't think that you were in the right place. But clearly others won't browse the other forum(s) and for that it was perhaps better to start the topic here, even though it is more a general console topic instead of a PS3 topic. My mistake

On topic. Don't compare a console with a longer run against a console who has just started getting support. The good games are coming, but it takes some time to create them. Of course Xbox gets more support for the moment, but with Heavenly Sword and Warhawk the PS3 is getting a steady fan base and developers show that the PS3 is capable of some impressive things. Let's face it, the PS3 has yet to release it's big guns. While Xbox is riding all on those few games (Halo, Gears of War) and only 1 genre (FPS). The PS3 has and will have many games for every genre and everyones liking, but this takes some time.

At the moment the 360 is a much better console than the PS3. Awesome games like Bioshock and Halo 3 have just come out and there's still PGR3, Mass Effect and others to look forward to before the end of the year. Ninja Gaiden 2 next year too.

I think in around 2 years time the PS3 will really start to out-shine the 360. I think the PS3 will reveal its self as the better console and be a league above the competition. Problem is, around the same time Microsoft will probably be announcing the 3rd Xbox.

Sony really dropped the ball this generation. I don't know if they have some master plan in the works to turn things around but they are taking a very long time to do anything. PS3 is reaching its first year without any truly massive, blockbuster games being released. 360 had Gears of War within a year.

Come on Sony, get your act together!

I love sony too, but I'm kinda hoping they come out even. Only real reason I loved sony so much was b/c of Square Enix's FF's on it's platform. But when Square merged with Enix the company went way down hill, and I'm hoping FF13 turns them around. FF12 was the biggest disapointment ever....we'll see though....if inifinte undiscovery and mass effect and lost odyssey are a better game thant the new FF"s, i'll probably just use my PS3 for it's exclusives only and not buy all cross multi plats for 360....

i have your same feeeling, i love my 360, but something about the ps3 makes me want it to succeed....bleh oh well!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The 360 has a year head start on the PS3 and frankly it's shocking to see how quickly multi-platform titles look just as good on the PS3 vs 360.What is really shocking isthe 360 hasn't shown anything better than it has, I never see anything that the 360 is doing that the PS3 couldn't do or do better. After today with Halo out, the 360 has nothing else up it's sleeve. Granted Halo is a system mover but most people that will get a 360 for Halo already did. 360 has Bioshock and Gears but those aren't household names like Halo, and they are available on PCs (Gears will be later) which is a better alternative to a 360 anyway. In fact, Microsoft is doing everything it can to shoot the 360 in the foot with cross platform play with the PC and achievment points on the PC, why would anyone on the fence about getting 360 over their PC do so? Don't forget, the 360 is not the global success some websites would have you believe, it does nothing in Japan.

WIth the great games scheduled to come out soon for the PS3, there is nothing to worry about. I think given the choice, say if both systems were at the same price point, the PS3 would win 8 out of 10 times. The one thing that will truly help the PS3 is a price drop. The only thing that can hurt it is if BR loses to HD-DVD.

are we forgetting the fact that around this time the 360 only had Gears. Menaing it had been one year since the 360 came out and if we all had own the PS3 the 360 would be bashed like crazy that it only has Gears and that Bioshock and Halo 3 are coming in another year etc. PS3 has had the same start as the 360 maybe better and maybe alittle worse. We have to understand this concept that the 360 has had more than a year early start than the PS3. So it basically comes down to the fact that lets seen how the PS3 wiill look aganist 360 1 year from now. Even with 360's head start.

These are the titles that the PS3 holdswhile the 360 has only the title for best franchise and best shooter HALO.Last gen PS2not once dissapointeme, so when you got these games and MORE to look forward to why not love the PS3?
