-Ono wants it to be the "second coming" of SF II. Wants it to feel like "homecoming" for SF II fans.

- Gameplay sticking with 2D- Ono wants to "preserve the strategic nature of SF II"

-camera doesn't budge

-Controls are traditional- "in its current early state, the game feels remarkably close to Super SFII Turbo"

EGM

As much as I loved SFII back in the day. I have to say I don't entirely agree with the idea of using the same gameplay mechanics of SFII or III. This is a new age. New times call for new innovations. Since SFIII Third Strike came out, games have evolved greatly. It's probably safe to say that a lot of people who played SFII back in the day don't even play video games anymore. Shouldn't the target audience for SFIV be the new gamers, rather than rehashing game mechanics from 5, 10, or 15 years ago, even though they were almost flawless? If it's pretty much the same gameplay, why even make a new one? I almost feel as if they want to just bring SFII into the new age for the gamers of today to play it. If all it is is a prettier version of SFII or SFIII, with just a few new mechanics, I'm going to have to say I'm against it. Games like Tekken and Virtua Fighter have progressed a lot from their previous installments. You can still go 3D and feel a lot different than any 3D fighter out there right now. I think it would be more important to take a chance trying to appeal to gamers of today's generation instead of satisfying the "old crowd."
Please don't bash me. I haven't played the game yet. Neither have any of you. It could be just as good and as big of a hit as SFII.
All I'm trying to say is that if it feels too similar to SFII or SFIII, it might get old pretty quick. Capcom DID take a chance on RE4 and it was a very good thing. They should do the same with Street Fighter. Artistically, I think the game should have gone for more of the darker look that was in the teaser trailer. Everybody loved it! It's pretty much proven that new age gamers like the darker type of feel. The weird thing is that the actual game almost looks nothing like the teaser trailer that was shown, except for maybe the character's body proportions.

Yea I wish the would have gone with the inky look from the trailer. Might be different in motion but I'm not really a fan of the new look

I can kind of see what you're saying. This is a new age with new technology, but IMHO, Street Fighter IV should stay in 2D with newly tweaked game mechanics. There are plenty of 3D fighters out there that are great, but gamers (like myself) have been praying for another amazing fighter for the longest time. (Guilty Gear has been great to me while I wait for a new SF). 2D fighters always feel different than 3D fighters and this is what 2D fans have been waiting for forever.

I'm one o' them old grandpas that played the original SF2. I've played every iteration since then. CAPCOM has had zero success with attemtpting 3D movement so for something as serious as the next full installment to the series they either need to have 3D movement nailed better than anyone else has ever done it or stick to what made all 8 billion previous versions so freakishly fun.
