did instructions come with it? you might have to put it in 'pairing mode' and then go into the XMB, Accessory Settings and add it that way

www.google.com and type in registering the official Sony headset with the PS3.

Google is always better than asking here.

oh yea....pairing mode for most bluetooth mics is usually activated by starting with a headset turned off, and holding the power button in for 10-15 seconds until the power light is solid or blinks different colors or something other that what it normally does when turned on

this is by far the best headset i've used w/ the PS3 out of the 3 i've tried. earpiece is plenty loud, i usually have to turn it down, and so is the mic. it does a good job of cancelling out most background noise as well

Plus it just feels cheap. And turning it off/on feels more like luck than anything. I really expected alot more in terms of quality and accessability.
And this is more of an issue with PS3 than the mic itself but: I hate having to switch between the PS3 Eye and the headset for voice input. Why can't the PS3 just recognise both? The whole thing just seems weakly planned.

I have one and it's better than my USB mic and my Jabra. No clue how it could suck. Infact until this post I've only heard good things about it.

What's the PS3 supposed to do to know which you want to use? You just don't understand how it works. I go between my USB mic, my Eye Toy mic, and my official Sony headset just fine. And you can do so while in-game.

it's not like the controllers, you have to sync it, it doesn't automatically do it.

Go to Bluetooth devices under settings, hopld down the power button until it is solid green, then search for device... pass code 0000

The PS3 could use the one that's turned on at the time. That'd be a pretty easy way to tell which one i want to use.

You can press the PS button at any time and go to the accessory settings and see the list of your mics and select the one you want to use.

I imagine Sony would've done that if they only allowed their mic to work on the system. Because they would have to program the PS3 software to recognize the mic and they don't have just one mic that works with it. They allow many brands and types from USB to wireless. Maybe they could do it? I don't know, maybe in an update.

You must've got a different headset to me. You hold power button till it beeps for it to turn on, and again to turn off. TO pair it you just hold down the button for 20 seconds. My volume went very, very loud and I could even hear the headset when it wasn't on my ear. Everyone heard me fine, too. I think yours might off been defective if it was THAT bad...

Same here. It's the best headset I have used for the PS3.
