Stupid HDMI question..

Im thinking about getting a ps3 in the near future, but I was sad to hear that it doesnt come with an hdmi cable :(. However, today we upgraded our cable to dvr and the cable guy gave us an hdmi cable by chance. Would that work with the ps3 as well? I was trying to find a picture of the hdmi port on the ps3 but could not find one. Thanks in advance!

Yes'm all HDMI cords are the "same" meaning they are interchangable, unless there's a difference between regions (NA, EU, ***)

And don't never ever buy HDMI cables from retail (Walmart, Best Buy) Overpriced like nothing else. I saw a 3 foot "high quality" HDMI cable at Walmart for $50.

Use your Multiout Composites that came in the box. Pick up a Y adapter to convert the red and white connections to a mini stereo plug. Also pick up an inline mini stereo to mini stero adapter to plug your external speakers into assuming they use a mini stereo plug. Total cost is around $12 @ RadioShack.

is there, by any chance, that I could hook up the hdmi to my monitor with a hdmi to dvi converter and use the audio cables from the av cables? or whatever ones that come with the ps3? SLUSHiNaToR

For my 360 i have a red and white plug in that converts it to one plug in for my speakers and subwoofer. so i could just do that for the audio.. SLUSHiNaToR
