Suggestions anyone? New PS3 owner with no games!

I was hoping someone could tell me a game I should get. Im not looking for an FPS right now, so COD and Unreal are out of the question. I was hoping you guys could tell me a good SP game that you had a lot of fun playing for a while. I was looking for an RPG or action/adventure type kinda game with a good story that might keep me busy for a while. I just got my PS3 so im looking for a good game to enjoy.

Note: I had the 360 before I sold it to get my PS3, so I already beat Assassin's Creed on the 360..so leave that out as well :)

I was going to say Resistance but then I noted no FPS games lol.

I say go with Uncharted, its the only third person game that I think looks amazing and I cant wait to play it :P

Based on what I've seen they really introduce you to the style of game and the main characters. It's not quite the same as Sonic the Hedgehog or Super Mario Brothers Sequels where you almost always have the same nemesis in a different world with added gameplay. Read the reviews of the previous ones to form your own opinion or pick them up used and cheap from Gamestop.

So I dont need to play the previous Ratchet and Clanks? Like theres no continuation whatsover? I understand it might be a lot of fun..but theres no storyline that goes along or anything like that?yanksfanman319

The games do not link in any meaningful way. Though without playing the 1st game you dont get to see how R&C found eachother. plus ypu dont get the character history like captian quark, who is in each game. Plus in some games there will be small clips or bits showing bad guys you have defeated. But its not enough to have to play them all just to understand the new one.

Plus get COD 4, I jsut got it, the first mission was amazing! I am not far in the game but it is honestly the best shooter I have playerd in ages, maybe the best ever. Better than R6 V. Way better than halo 3. Stunning visuals and gameplay. And it is always intense and immersive.

If you like FPSes

Unreal Tournament 3 and The Orange Box are pretty damn sweet. Folklore is also a pretty good action adventure/RPG. Heavenly Sword is amazing, but incredibly short. Good beatemup game but very short like I said.

PAIN is also pretty nice. If you've ever played the flash games that use physics to hurt people and watch how the scores rack up, this is like that.
