Sometimes the swearing bothers me in games like GTA and such. I think it would be a good idea to be able to go to the options screen and be able to filter out some of the language. What do you think?

i dont know hwo ppl is kinda annoyed or bothered by that? its alot worse when u in school and others are running around cussin and/or with friends and every sentence they say has a S or F bombs in them. and ppl complain about it in a video game? thats why they put M ratin as in mature ppl who are older and dont care for cussin. if its that bad, thenits simple dont get the game. and if u think that ull be missin on a game just uz of the swearing then just phase it out. how to phase it out? simple same way kids phase their parents out every time they lecture them lol
I could care less, it won't affect me either way, so if they want to add the option I say go for it.
I expect it. But I prefer if it "made sense". Not just mindless "F this and F that" every second word with every character. As if the selling point is the fact that they're swearing. I just prefer better dialog.
If it's just one character that eventually dies, then I'm fine with that.

*cough* Killzone 2 *cough* although the language didn't seem to bother me as much as it did to most.
Bioshocks cursing seemed right for the game, to me. It cursed when someone would be cursing, and didn't go overboard.
If a game doesn't need swearing, it shouldn't have any. Now in games like GTA you'd have to have swearing. All that happens in the game simply associates with swearing. It's more life like, more realistic.
Now, I believe in Uncharted there's an S-word here and there but that game doesn't need swearing, I think. It's too adventurous and anyone could play it.
Killzone needs it. It's a violent shooter. War is horrible. Fighting is intense. Swearing is a must.
I don't mind swearing in games at all, but it is a bit awkard when a family member comes in and a large amount of swearing is going on.
Ya, you kind of have to get over it. In my school, 90% of people say the F word once a day. 99.999% say it once a week. It has just gotten so "regular" I hardly even notice it any more. Our generation is just desensitized to it, and that could cause "bad" words to be not bad anymore.
STFU.
only messing but no it adds to atmosphere and helps you get emotionally involved with the game. if the swearing is not inapporiate for the situation.

lol
If the adult language was filtered, then a violence filter or an option for blood to be green etc would also have to be added.
Double standards shouldn't be applied to mature content, (some parents would probably be more lenient in buying a mature game for their child if it had these options, but the child can always turn this option off) it's all or nothing for a reason.

lol, oh man.
If there is going to be a language filter than the ESRB should bring back the K-A rating. At the beginning of the game you choose the level that you want the game to be at. If this doesn't happen, I'm fine with hearing swears.
I know WAW had an optional filter, but i really dont care either way. I dont think there is any game that is rated "M" just for swearing; like even if Killzone 2 NEVER swore, it would still be rated M, so im not sure what good a filter would do, besides maybe just so kids nearby dont hear shepard drop and F-bomb
lol wow thats so true, I really agree with that, but then again in some games the F this and F that really does get repetitive and over used but some games do make it feel more realistic. If a game doesn't need swearing, it shouldn't have any. Sometimes it cursing can be done well. Look at Bionic Commando. Nothing better than jumping down from the top of a skyscraper all the way to the ground. Then your character drops an F bomb. It would be my word of choice too. Though i agree, like in real life, dialouge loaded with profanity is lame. If i wanted that, i'd talk to 12 yr olds online.
