OK, so my cousin isnt the sharpest tool in the box. Last week he bought an 80gb Ps3. However he quickly found out he couldnt play San Andreas on it. Now my cousin asked me would i like to swap my 2 year old 60gb ps3 (which is currently being repaired after incurring the YLOD) for his brand new 80gb. I think this is a pretty good deal for me and he thinks it is a good deal for him also. But if i swith my ps3 with his will i lose my PSN settings and my other ps3 setting including my user profile?? is there anyway to go around this?

I wouldn't trade down to a 80 gig system. The thing is the 60 gig was the best SKU of PS3's. As for everything else as long as you have all your user information and passwords your profile will be the same.

I have a 60 gig and wouldn't trade it for any of the newer systems even if they added a PSP or PSP go into the deal. A used 60 gig PS3 is worth almost as much as a new PS3 that's being sold today. If I ever want another PS3 I will only purchase the 60 gig personally.

It had all the best features built into the console. There won't be another PS3 built that has the features the 60 gig had. And in time the value of the 60 gig could possibly increase as the number of even used units dry up. Could become a collectors item later on.

Wow i never thought of it that way i might just hang on to it now.. but i guess im afraid that it might have a shorter lifespan after being repaired than a brand new 80 gb.

I cant see how a faulty 60gb is better than a new non-faulty 80gb?

Your only gonna be adding 20gb. Its a loss. Your losing all your info, and the 80gb in not backwards conpatible from what i hear. And since you said he wasnt able to play san andreas

didn't you say its getting repaired? so really you would have a freshly refurbed 60 gig ps3, i wouldn't do it because you don't know what ps2 games you will want to play later on.

i sold an 80 gig ps3 that i got brand new for a used 60 gig.

I would go for the trade. I bought a 80 GB after my 60 GB suffered an YLOD and I'm not regretting it. The 80GB is more silent both when playing games and watching movies.

In Sweden they don't even repair it. They switch it to a new 60 GB for the price that'll almost give you a new 80 GB. I had mine repaired at an independent shop but I sure don't trust it. I'm going to sell it.
