I have been having lots of trouble deciding between these two games lately, they both have stealth, action, and online, and online mic support, i have no idea which one to buy, can someone help me out...
im not a huge fan of the socom series for psp because of the fact that they use target lock
but.. in syphon filter it's hard to get a leg up in the online mode because you have to rank up before you get a decent weapon that can take the better players, but to do that you have to beat the better players.. its like catch 22.Â
The online is a bit better on Socom. Syphon Filter like the other guy said if you aren't playing it already it's hard to start. For the single player no question its Syphon Filter though. Syphon Filter overall.
Syphon has better stealth and a way better single player but Socom 2 has lasted me longer because of the online mode. when i tried to play syphon online i got killed.

Syphon Filter is a stealth 3rd Person tactical shooter much like Splinter Cell. Socom is much more run and gun due to its style of game. Syphon FIlter lasted me way longer because the single player campaign was worth playing again. Socom's online although good I'd rather play online games on my 360 I don't think online with the PSP is really a big deal. But if you get into the online Socom will last longer.

Gotta go with Syphon Filter especially on the single player campaign - just so much more atmospheric and immersive. Then again I am partial to the spycraft aspect of Syphon Filter and MGS.
Socom 2 is 40 and SP: DM is 20 so you could buy that and if you do not own Daxter you could get that also for 20. So two games for the price of one. Plus SP is a great game.
