Taking apart a DUALSHOCK 3 is COMPLICATED!

my r2 button was shaky, so i opened the controller, realized the spring was broken from R2. so i used the spring from my regular six axis and then it fell into the controller buttons area when trying to put it back in. so i had to screw open the inner part , which made the other buttons ( L1,L2, R1) come off, and the yellow rubber part. Setting that back together after finding the spring, was more trouble some cuz somehow the red wire from the left rumble motor popper off, so i tosolder it. i think its better u leave ur controller alone if a button is shaky, now i have to find another spring for my six axis. the DUAL SHOCK 2 was easier to put back together. My question is, have yall experienced problems with the R2 or L2 buttons,one being less sturdy or shaky?

I had to take about my SIXAXIS twice because I broke them. I will NEVER break a controller again because it was a total pain in the butt to put back together. It took hours across a couple days to put it back together perfectly. I eventually got it to function again but just the pain itself taught me to control my anger. :) That green data paper, getting it lined up along with keeping the face buttons in along with keep the shoulder buttons in, was nearly impossible.Chaos_Bladez

Haha the same thing happened to my white ds3. I also took apart one of my SIXAXIS controllers to replace the spring. The only trouble I had was lining up the R/L1 buttons, which took some patience but I eventually got it:) I do agree with you though, the DS2 was a lot easier to put back together

its better not to mess with things until ur rich enough to replace them without a sweat. My psp L button sticks and after my experience with this CONTROLLER, i'll just live with a messed up L button on the psp. obviously i'm not one of those fan boy types, but i gotta say the 360 controller trigger feels more sturdy. my dual shock 3 was kinda skaky from DAY 1. and the spring for the regular xbox controller was a big hard spring, this ds3 spring is just a flimsy little wire like spring, easy to break. really feels cheap. my problem with xbox controllers however, was the studs on analog stick rubbers wearing out quickly. with the dual shock 3, the blue under the rubber somehow loses its stickyness and the rubber can rotate. .. in a nutshell, WORK HARD SO U CAN REPLACE THESE THINGS WITHOUT A HEADACHE OR REGRET lol .

i dont kno any implications for not breaking ur L2,R2 buttons, cuz i took care of mine. some games just demmand a constand use of them, like to race in burnout. and then in cod, the analog stick can break easily in some form. .. lame .

Yeah, the R2 button on my DS3 got really loose from playing GTA IV.

I made my brother take it apart and fix it. lol It must be a pain.

and this is exactly whats wrong with the world. People don't figure things out for themselves.

OT: I have the same problem with my R2. I've put off the issue for some months now, but I'm gonna buy a new conch from Best Buy and put on my best stupid face when I return my well worn Dualshock 3 (also with a bad spring).

Wait, so if my friend gets shot, are you saying I should try and operate on him myself instead of calling an ambulance to take him to the person who knows how to do it?

If anything is wrong with the world, it's people doing things with the false notion that they know what they're doing. I'd rather learn about how a Dualshock is taken apart by reading a manual instead of facing it head on like a reckless buffoon.

Make sure to take the cord out is all I can say.
