39.99 no tax...so if you buy like a hundred things you will have an extra dollar...pretty sweet.

Yes, there is a small tax on the PSN items. At least here in Canada, and I assume we are automatically using the US PSN store. When I bought both Stardust and Eden there was a $1 added for tax.

Basically, if the country the PSN store operates in has a sales tax, you will get charged. This tax is based on where the seller is and not where YOU live personally.

for shipping goods it does depend on where you live. certain states require you pay taxes on things you get shipped to you, say from the internet. they use your billing address to determine how to tax you. however these are digital goods so i dont understand why we must pay tax on them.

There's nothing wrong with sales tax because these taxes is what supports our infrastructure.

it pisses me off. i went to the PSN store and wanted to buy Flower and Pain, saw that the total would have been $21.68 and i only had $20. so, am i supposed to buy another $20 card just to buy two games? At least with Xbox Live i dont get charged tax when buying games off of Marketplace. I don't think it has anything to do with the laws your state passes. I pay not extra Microsoft points when buying things due to tax, on overstock.com, amazon.com, and buy.com i don't pay tax either, so whats the deal?

I had, I wanted to buy Burnout Paradise which costs 19.99. I bought the $20 card, because I didn't know that there were taxes. The game costs more than $21 with taxes :( soI bought Battlefied 1943.

Depends where you live. I am in Illinois and I have taxes. Simple solution is don't buy PSN cards and just use your debit / credit card.

Don't buy PAIN... problem solved. Besides, what's the problem here, I've never seen anyone complain because he has to pay taxes...

There is TAX involved, at least here in Canada.

For example:

- If you want to buy a game on PSN that cost 9.99$ + TAX = 11.29$

However, when you go the store to purchase PSN Card for 20$ lets say, you don't get TAXed for that card. That's of course because you get TAXed when you get home and purchase the game from PSN.

What makes using a credit card a terrible idea?

[QUOTE="Assassin1349] Don't use a Credit Card. Terrible idea.

Because why??? How do you do your online shopping? In the worst case scenario and your account is compromised, have it be your credit card. They can only use a couple thousand dollars (depending on your limit) which is not real dollars needed to pay bills plus it's easier to take care of and not be held accountable. They get your debit/check card and your real money is gone and it takes awhile to get back. Only terrible idea is for people who can't manage their money. Pay off your whole bill every month, no debt and no interest.

I personally don't have that problem since I do not store any of my credit/debit card information on their servers. Some people are too lazy to enter it every time they make a purchase, but for me not a problem at all.
