Okay, half of the movies i want haven't bothered to show up on blu-ray. (still on DVD).

Walk-mart, K-mart, Target and such stores have a 5 foot section of...what? 9 or 10 different blu-ray movies. While they have 30 feet stock shelves of DVD movies.

I bought March of the penguins. Crap ass movie doesn't come in 20 different languages, video quality is the same as DVD, no extra features. I was expecting something big from these Blu-ray movies, but at the end, i get a movie that has the same quality of features like the DVD. :( which saddens me.

So, yeah, topic; Tell me again why Bly-Ray is so.."amazing"? (Besides the whole "omg it has 25/50gigs of space! and PS3 will use that  space to create AWESOME GAMES!! RAWR!!!")

once again the market has to mature, I do not think anything ever has been a huge hit from the very start. I'm sure there were nay sayers to both to electrical light & water toilets, but see now ;)

First of all
HD quality - you get better picture quality with BD
Uncommpressed sound - sound if far better with BD if you have a decent sound system ...

Think of the upgrade from VHS to DVD and thats what the DVD to BD upgrasde will be like ...

Well I can't agree with you at all.  I am using a Sharp Aquos 1080P LCD and connected via HDMI and Blu-ray is phenom!!  My friends and family are seriously impressed, so much so my cousin and my father-in-law have purchased the tv to get get ready for Blu-ray.  I see that you expect Blu-ray to pump out ten years of movies in a couple of months........wow.....that is very realistic.

I am sure you are using a 1080P display and have it connected properly and wouldn't be complaining for nothing.  There is no chance of that.

Bluray is superior. I mean: 'omg; it has 25/50 gigs of space!' That means there is a lot more space/room for special features, extra documentaries, deleted scenes, etc, etc... and not to mention the space for high definition video - duh.  HD is upto six times better than DVD format. Buy a good movie (action, with lots of explosions and action) and you will see the greatness of Bluray! Sound is better. Everything.

..and as already said - sure you were playing it via hdmi > hdtv? (and was it 1080p)? because with my ps3 I had to enable 1080 to play it, before hand - it kept on downscaling it to 480  .. and I was like ''wtf?''

Get a HDTV buddy

That is what I was thinking.

He either

a. doesn't have an HDTV

or

b. has one but thinks that it is not "amazing" either.

Oh, did i forget to mention that I have a Samsung HDTV that shows 1080i resolution?

Well, I do. Okay, people tell me a good movie. I love Kung fu flicks, like Jet Li and such. I hate House of the flying daggers, so don't bother with that.

Precisely the point champ!  Thanks for validating all of our posts.  To experience Bluray you need 1080p.

Well, over on AVS, they say thatthe picture quality of Kingdom of Heaven and Black Hawk Down is far superior than many other BR movies. I'd suggest checking those out.

I only have 1 BR movie which to me doesnt look as good as ANY of my HD-DVDs, but you cant judge something out of a single use. I'll be picking up Casino Royale this weekend and then i'll see if it holds up. From what i hear it shows what BR is capable of.

Sorry but 1080i is simply not Blu-ray.  1080p is Blu-ray.  Size of screen, type of connection etc.

I just don't understand how someone watches a Blu-ray movie and says, I don't see it.  Casino Royale looks incredible, Saw 3 was too sick to believe in Blu-ray and I just bought Underworld so I will check that out this weekend.  Maybe I am crazy, my friends and family are crazy, everyone else is crazy.....or perhaps you need glasses? :D

I really don't know what to say. If you can't see the difference in picture and audio quality, I have no way of describing it.
