Tetsuya Nomura: Final Fantasy Versus on hold indefinitely

This was taken from a interview conducted by Famitsu. I for one am really stoked for Final Fantasy XIII more than Versus so this news brings me joy. Cheers.

I think this is fine.

I really wouldn't want to try to juggle both games at the same time, I would be on FFXIII overload.

True, Final Fantasy XIII will no do ubt provide plenty of hours of gaming anyway.

tbh i want versus more, but getting 13 early isnt such a bad thing. hopefully then the full 13 and vs13 teams will work on VS13, just as long as it doesnt get cancelled i'll survive.

that sounds like a very reasonable delay to me. as stated, and frankly, ANY FF news is welcome to me at this point.wheezal

Then I'm definatley getting Versus.

hope a release date is announced soon enough... maybe since they're using the resources for the Versus team, maybe try to translate the text to english so we don't have to wait half a year for an euro/us releaseginraisama

This is excellent news! I was very not looking forward to VS (because it from the same people who made KH, which i hate with a passion)

Now i can get my jig on with Lighting a little faster hopefully :P

The only thing the two games have in similitarity is the setting.

Same Universe but different characters/plot/story.

SE is making three games using the XIII name: XIII, versus XIII, and Agito (cellphone game). The three games make up what is called Fabula Nova Crystallis. Each game is standalone, so you do not need to play one to understand the other.

I've got a bad feeling about this.

My reading of this is not that the versus team has been poached to get XIII out quicker, but that the XIII team is struggling and that versus has been suspended to get XIII back on track.

To me, this hints at more delays for both games, not an early release for XIII.

I just hope that the versus team have got to grips with the PS3 more than the XIII team and that this is just a tempory setback to get XIII back to schedule, but somehow I doubt it.:(

Maybe Square Enix set a deadline for when they wanted the game to be completed and figured the Versus team would help speed up the process. It could also be that they know people aren't going to play two Final Fantasy games simultaneously so put production of one on hold and then resume it after the release of the other so people have time to play and enjoy Final Fantasy XIII.

This is actually good news. Two extremely talented teams working on one FF. Once thats done, they both work on the other. They should do that with all their RPGs IMO. The faster Final Fantasy games come out, the better. :)KamuiFei

damn i was looking forward to vs. more then x3 because of the real time combat, just can't do turn-based...

oh well, x3 is the bigger game so get that out first then finish up vs.
