I know I'm late into these games but wow, both awesome games. It's exactly what I thought I'd never play again... the feel of an old FPS game. Always loved the level designs, the atmosphere, the ridiculous guns... and Bioshock brings that all back again this gen. Currently on my 2nd playthrough on B2 with runs of multiplayer that I'm having a blast with.

I'm looking forward to Duke Nukem for that old nostalgia FPS feel again, but now from playing Bioshock, it's already there.

What are your thoughts on these games? Did it give you that old FPS feel?

Bioshock was an amazing game. It was truly a classic that will be remembered for decades to come. Bioshock 2, however, was far from classic material. It wasn't bad really, it just wasn't as awe inspiring or well-written as the first Bioshock. It just felt more forced and less natural.

Bioshock 1 was also significant because itshowed that FPS games can still succeed on single player campaigns alone. Bioshock 2 then attempted to drag the game--unsuccessfully I might add--into the realm of multiplayer focused titles. Bioshock should be a single player experience first and foremost; they ought to leave the multiplayer to CoD, Battlefield, and other series that are practically founded on it. It's a waste of budget, time, and talent to try and include MP simply to check a box.

@sixgears CoD, battlefield etc didn't found multiplayer fps, they are just the most "hip" by today's standards, games like golden eye and doom got the multiplayer fps off the ground so many years back :) I loved bioshock 1 and 2, though I loved the online of 2 better than everything else, nice breath of freash air and it allowed more than just weapon changes...nothing like clocking and a high jump to safety XD

I didn't say they founded multiplayer, I said they were founded on it. There's a big difference there. What I meant was that multiplayer has nearly always been integral to those franchises, but that doesn't mean that they began the multiplayer FPS scene. I've been playing for a long time, so the history lesson is unnecessary. You should read more carefully.

Also, regardless of whether you enjoyed Bioshock 2's MP or not, it just doesn't have the legs to succeed in the long run. As such, that money and dev timewould have been better spent on the single player. I am not saying that MP in Bioshock can't be amusing for a while, I'm just saying that it doesn't have the clout to succeed in a market that is already oversaturated in AAA online shooters. Why not deliver an epic and memorable SP instead of focusing on including a feature simply for the sake of including it?

I haven't played many FPS games before, but as playing games with a friend like Quake, Doom, Hexen... I know where you're coming from, but personally I find it's nice to have a multiplayer shooter with the atmopshere of an old FPS game in this era.

@TC I'm not saying the MP can't be a relief from the standard fare, only that it just won't have the following to make it big. That makes it a bad investment IMO. I'd rather see co-op in a game like Bioshock if we must have an online component, at least that would have broader appeal since nearly everyone loves co-op on nearly every game.

Bioshock is one of the best FPS games I ever played. I can't think of a FPS game that was more story driven than this. I loved the first game. I loved Bioshock 2 a lot too, but I still felt the first one was the better of the two.

Bioshock was a good game. The actual shooting was really bad, but once your got past that the story and atmosphere were utterly magnificent. Bioshock 2 fixed most of the gameplay issues, and as a game I think I actually like it better, but it kinda missed the atmosphere that the first had.

The first Bioshock is my favorite game this gen. Awesome story and atmosphere. Check out The Darkness and Singularity. Both are extremely underrated FPS games. Loved the story in The Darkness.

I love BioShock. Such an amazing experience and it truly was an experience, the story, atmosphere, artstyle and gameplay were all fantastic in my opinion. It's definitely up there in my top favorite games of all time. So many memorable moments and characters, plus just exploring Rapture is one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done in a game. I love listening to all those audio logs. BioShock 2, not so much, I just didn't find the story or Rapture to be nearly as engrossing the second time around. I imagine partly due to the fact that you already know what's going on in Rapture so it leaves little mystery to be solved. Oh yeah, Sofia Lamb, no replacement for Andrew Ryan, not even close. I also didn't like that you're playing as a Big Daddy, it seemed to make you feel too powerful like you're basically some Terminator walking around Rapture destroying anything that gets in your path. BioShock 2 isn't a bad game by no means but it really should've been done better or not at all.

I think part two is more fun to play then part one, but bioshock is still a classic game of this gen. Im playn 2 now and i really enjoy it the sound is amazing and i think the setting is just as good as part one. The story is the only weak point for me in bioshock 2.

I think the shooting in Bioshock is really addictive because the controls are so wonky. You really have to be on your toes at all times.

Even after three years after it's PS3 release, it's still one of the best campaign FPS games on the PS3. Despite it being one year late port from the 360 version.
