That grade would you give the PS3.

After a failed launch, losing some 3rd party exclusive, and alot of bashing from gamers it seen a tough road for Sony and it PS3. The system isn't selling because of the price is one thing, nobody doesn't want to pay $600.00 for a PS3 but they will buy an Xbox 360 or a Wii for cheap. On a grade level of the PS3 I would give it an C for both good and bad.

 Good

More game coming (Lair, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Warhawk, Rachet & Clank)

Home online serives

More download games for the PS3

Bad

Losing 3rd party exclusive (Devil May Cry 4)

The $600.00 price

I think that Sony will win the next gen war by do so is the cut the prices of the PS3 down, lock up 3rd party exclusive, and make the PSN even better. If Sony can do that I think they will over come it.

I give it an A because for one thing it's very reliable. I keep hearing about all these 360's breaking and tearing up. Well I haven't heard much about the PS3 messing up. And, The games are about to be here. Just a few more months.

I give it an A.

Failed launch is arguable: they set the record in the UK for most consoles sold at launch

Losing some 3rd party exclusives: that's not under Sony's control. You know, short of buying all the companies or rampantly distributing PS3s to households all over the world (for free).

Bashing from gamers: Rack that up to jealousy

Price: It's not great but considering what you're getting, it's fair.

Games: Again, not a great launch selection but like you said, they're on the way.

Home: Awesome idea.

Downloadable games for the PS3: Another awesome idea. (Not unique, I know, but still awesome)

Reliability: the key point for me. Unlike some other systems (cough trash cough), no reports of launch unit failure. Heck, no significant reports of hardware failure altogether (well, with the exception of those high-pitched whining units). Nothing is more disheartening than opening your $300-$600 toy and finding that it doesn't work well just DAYS after you bought it. How is it going to be after years of heavy gameplay?

Final Assessment: A

I give it a B. It would have get an A if it wasn't for its high price. The exclusives lost can't really be blamed on the PS3 since it doesn't only affect them but the entire industry. It just isn't viable anymore to keep a game exclusive (except 1st party games of course). On the long run, the PS3 will probably be #1, especially if Blu-Ray becomes predominent.

I say A-. Extremely reliable, all it needs now are more games.

And no, the launch was not a failure, at least not in Europe and New Zealand.

You think $600 is bad? Try the £425 ($950) they want for it in the UK.

If it went up for £350 ($700) they'd probably have doubled the amount of consoles sold in the UK. ¬_¬

Im going to give it a B only because the cell processor is very expensive for game developers to make games for.

I believe the PS3 is a wonderful piece of hardware.  It is reliable, it is powerful, it runs surprisingly quiet, it surfs the web, it has much potential.  You in no doubt get what you paid for with the PS3.

But it's too bad developers have to be willing to put up millions to make a title for a system that does not have much of an install base (as of now).  It is a lot to ask.

I'd give it a C. From my own experience, the launch wasn't that bad, it had a stellar game to offer, and they kept up with demand as well as any other console does (that doesn't mean it was good though =D). Only thing is it's still $699.99, (In Canada at least) and it hasn't done a good job with coming out with more stellar titles and lost some exclusives. I'm going to buy it when I get the $$$, but I just feel that with the price tag, it didn't really knock my socks off in terms of content.

I just gave it a B, why? because they messed with the Blu-Ray bundle thing, I don't like Blu-Ray I like HD DVD and I will not buy the PS3 just because of that*Why should I pay a lot for a console who included  a HD player I don't like?* and this is the main reason the PS3 is losing their exclusives =(.

Don't get me wrong I'm a PS2 fan, I have a PS2-XBOX-360*nowadays the consoles put a lot of effort on the graphics leaving behind the good stories=(*. For developers it's not a bussiness to develop exclusive PS3 games with such low sales*. Until SONY pull a plan out of their hats, my PS3 grade will always be B.

You think the reason why Sony is losing exclusives is due to their decision to support BluRay instead of HD-DVD?

Wow. Just wow.

One more thing of course I will buy it if it goes under the 10'000 pesos*like 1000 Us dollars here in México, you can get it for less on the "flea market" but hell no heh* I think SONY didn't kept track of the currency exchange so it may be accesible in USA but for us who live outside the USA it's such a pain.

No no no I know that this is not the main reason.. it's the fact that they bundled the thing, BUNDLED the thing *this contribute to the high priced PS3* A Blu-Ray disc is way more expensive than a Dual Layer DVD.But hey greed it's a sin and I think SONY became a sinner with the PS3 trying to go beyond 360 capabilities. All in all I know in the near future, SONY will fix this **** out and will be the King again.

"That grade" I'd give the PS3 is a solid B. Had Sony gone the extra mile in ensuring the system had 512 memory instead of 256 it'd be a solid A+. As it is, I give a B just off of Cell power, Blu-ray storage, and the best 1st and 2nd party games of any console IMO.

While I agree the decision to include a BluRay player may have contributed to its high (perhaps overly high) price, I think it was still a good one.

Like you said, if it weren't for the BluRay player, why am I purchasing this? Why not purchase the game system that costs less and came out a year earlier?

Going beyond a competitor's feature-set isn't a sin. It's smart.

I gave it an A because it has given me so much fun. Resistance is amazing and i have never had a disapointing moment in that game. Motorstorm was rocky for me at first but once i got the hang of it i couldnt let go. Its reliablity of a machine is just amazing, ive had zero problems. The things you can do with it are great, from surfing the net with a mouse and keyboard, playing music, and play movies its just great. Also the PS store is really rocky but for being so rocky its still great. I am yet to be disapointed about buying it.

It's too early to give it a grade, but to be modest: a C. It still hasn't proved itself (as in, it needs a killer app) Just because there are games that are potential killer apps, doesn't mean they will be. You never know, we just have to wait. :)

I give the system itself an A.  It's well made, attractive, and advanced when compared to it's peers.  Sure, it's expensive, but high end consumer electronics tend to be.  I think it's one of the nicest pieces of tech gear that I own, and I'm a tech whore.

PlayStation 3 as a whole gets a C.  Despite their stellar system they weren't able to see what actually made Microsoft so successful last time around despite it's late start... It wasn't the fact that they had the most powerful system, or promises of online gameplay.... it was Halo.  Content is king, and right now PS doesn't have it.  GoWII should have been a PS3 game, plain and simple, and they should have pressured publishers to have a FF, MGS, or a GTA game on shelves months ago.

Until we get a couple good games I won't feel good about owning a PS3 instead of a 360.

Xbox 360 Elite should quiet anybody who is complaining about PS3's price tag. The systems will be about even. only elite won't even have HD-DVD playback, while PS3 has and will have Blu-Ray. Therefore, I say everything will fall in Sony's favor.

A C right now because I'm not really satisfied with a lot of games for the PS3, there are still features that I want and I do believe the PS Store can be a whole lot better.

Well....the actual system is incredible. You can tell how powerful it is and it has a lot fo neat little touches (the motion thumbnails for your videos in the XMB). And it looks sexy. The actual system gets an A. However, the only game I have been compelled to buy since launch was Resistance and that disappointed me greatly. The games, sadly, get an F. Soo...

System- A

Games-F

Overall- C

I'm sure it will get better thought with Rachet and Clank, FFXIII and Versus, Kingdom Hearts, Killzone, MGS4 etc.

It's got a lot of potential, but so far, there just aren't many games for it.  I own one PS3 game - RFOM.  By this time last year, after the 360 launch, I already had about 12 games.  Currently, I buy multiplats on the 360 because the online portion seems to work much better, and even still, many of those games have been delayed time and time again.  The next PS3 game I plan on buying is Lair - which should be out in July, unless it gets delayed.   So, after 8.5 months or so, I'll own 2 PS3 titles.  By then, I'll probably be up to 30 360 titles, and maybe 6 or 7 Wii games.  In the meantime, I'll keep renting PS3 games from Gamefly, and hopefully, something will warrant a purchase - I just don't know what that will be.

Well right now I'd give the PS3 a C..maybe a C+

Launch: Launch wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Resistance was a system seller, and it was an excellent game, despite being a launch title. System shortages made it impossible to find one, and the ebayers didnt help either.

The system itself: Hardware wise, IT IS the future. Cell processor, 60GB HDD, HDMI (1.3 mind you), blu-ray, all you could ever ask. and its black, shiny, and sleek

System software: The first BIG messup for Sony. The XMB is great, but where are the options. We had to wait 5 months to get background downloading. We still cant change our backgrounds, and we can't communicate with people when we're in a game. These are basic things that every gamer wants, and honestly should have gotten since launch.

Exclusives: Say what you say, this is also Sony's fault. I think we all know how cocky Sony is when it comes to their stuff. They always try to force their sh!t down people's throats. I can understand sony losing exclusives because developers think theyll lose money. Yea, the PS3 doesnt have a huge install base, but look. its already sold 3+ million units. Isnt that enough?? If developers came to you offering an exclusive, dont shut them off and make them work on your terms, or otherwise you might end up with a crappy port.

I'll give it a C. It's a vary well built system with a lot of potential, but haven't touched it much because the lack of great games right now. hopefully it gets better soon with games like Heavenly Sword and Lair..
