The 40GB PS3

Hey guys sorry in advance for the rant lol... but anyways, I just realized (in my own opinion) that the 40GB PS3 is a ripoff!! I was going to buy a new 80GB PS3 tonight, but my local BestBuy was sold out. My brotehr has a 40GB, and I think it is a stupid deal, no offense to the many gamers who have purchased one. OK I mean, no BC, only two USB ports, no built-in Wifi, and no included ethernet cable (and obviously only half the HD space)!! I know its for casual crowds, but why the hell did Sony just temporarily discontinue the great 80GB deal? I am VERY bummed out about not getting the 80GB, and I refuse to buy the 40GB, because I might as well spend the extra $100 anyways, and recieve a fantastic experience. Please share your thoughts and remeber its only my opinion. Thanks guys

that is true but just wait until they make the MGS bungle.... now thats going to rise playstaion sales to BILLIONS!!!!!!!

The 40 gig has wireless, two things are missing, two usb ports and PS2 BC. well i can get a PS2 cheaper than the upgrade, plus i could get a usb splitter if i wanted. I can take the money i saved and by a bigger HD than 80 gig. Plus from what i understood the MGS4 bundles are just for the leftover 80 gig, tehy are not making more of them. So i guess my point is i have no complaints about getting the 40 gig

I have a 60 gig myself, but I think the 40 gig system is pretty good. Some people really don't care about BC, and it does have Wi-Fi. 40 gigs is enough IMO, and you could upgrade if you like.

In my case, I wouldn't like the 40 gig because I use the memory card slots, and I play a lot of PS2 games. But the system is perfect for people who don't use the extra features, and just would like to play PS3 games or watch Blu-Ray movies.

The MGS bundle SOLD OUT in Japan so, I'd wait for that. At any rate the 80GB is the way to go!

40Gb is nice wouldnt call it a rip off just everything I need/want in the console is on the 60/80gb ps3........

i thought that the 40gb version is a pretty good deal. it reduces the price of the system by a lot, and why do we need so many usb slots? i've only two controllers so i guess two is enough. and actually the multi card readers are quite redundant imo. i've an external hdd and tonnes of thumb drives to slot into the usb. so i do not see it as such a huge draw back. it's just like me buying a computer without a floppy drive.

i do not know how true this is, but i heard that the 40gb version does not heat up as much. maybe my other counterparts who use the other versions place their ps3 in places which traps heat.

i heard theres a PS3 bungle that is metal plated but i don't know if thats the MGS bungle... it might... check it out on the internet

Yes, Sony is only making the 40 gigs from now on, so all the 80gigs that weren't sold to retailers, were being used for the MGS4 bundle. Now i'm not 100% sure on if they would make more 80Gig for the bundle, but why would they, it's a great opportunity to dump the 80 gigs they have. I'm sure there is a decent amount of 80 gigs "left" to make bundles with.

the skin will be the original piano black. only japan gets a limited special "steel" ps3 for their mgs4 bundle but i heard its ALREADY sold out. ! yikes.

I have the 60GB version and I was tempted with the 40GB just because of the price. I know it is only $100 cheaper, but it is a pretty decent starter price for those mainly interested in the Blu Ray player portion.

But I sold my PS2 to make room for a PS3 so I decided I would buy the 60GB to make up for the BC. Haven't regretted it since! ;)
