The Average PS3 gamer age, according to your responses

Ok Guys and Gals. I've done the math for all of the ages that you entered under the thread "How Old Are You?" The avarage age of a PS3 gamer, on gamespot, who answered the question, with the assumption of truth is, *drum roll* 25.

Not really a reliable average. Bear in mind that 99% of PS3 gamers, most of which are between the ages of 11 and 18, do not hang around on gaming Internet forums. Same with Xbox, Wii, even PC, far fewer PC gamers than you would think are actually, well, PC gamers as you would think. Most people who play PC games only play them on the PC because they can't afford/are not allowed a console.TheOtherTheoG

I'm not surprised that 25 is the average age for PS3 gamers seeing how most gamers grew up playing video games.

36 and play at least three times a week...mostly online and sports games with my son.

I'm 38 have been playing video games since we got an Atari 2600 for Xmas in 1982!

Awesome =D I clicked on this thread expecting to feel old when I saw the average was something like 16. 25 doesn't make me feel as old =D

Within the past 2 years, USA Today and the New York Times did a study on the average age of Videogame Players. The average age is 35 years old. It didn't catch me by surprise as my friends and I are in the age range. You have to keep in mind also that videogames were introduced back in the 70's, alot of those kids grew up with videogame, we like to call them Veterans or Old Schoolers.

53 here, and while I don't game every day I want to!

I'm not surprised. The bulk of the gaming generation have grown alongside the games.

That's a pretty dumb thing to say. Gaming PCs cost a lot more than a console.

I love my PS3; but I'd take my PC over it any day. Good thing I don't have to make that choice.

To be honest, I would have expected older, around the age of 35 due to the fact that studies show that is the average gamer age, however, playing PS3 online, I very rarely encounter anyone who sounds to be older then 13

23. been gaming since the nes, has had every console ever since well the major ones anyway, until the day i moved out and now only have a ps3. but i remember my dad having a great amiga 500 with loads of games and learned gaming off that. i ain't suprised at the age, i wud deffiantly wouldnt believe the average age is below 20 due to gaming taking off properly in the 80's and early 90's boomed with consoles, so alot of gamers are above 20. but i mean pretty much every child now will be into gaming i dont see them not being.

I believe your average estimate is very accurate considering today's demographics are towards 18-34 years old market, this is not to say there aren't people enjoying video games in their 40s, 50s and even 60s. They just aren't on gaming forums.
