na i think the rights will be sold to someone else. lol i hope sony buys them and give to a great game maker so it does not end up like crash banditcoot.GARRYTHKonami would be so stupid to sell the Metal Gear license to anyone, it wont happen unless Konami is going under.

I'm pretty sure metal gear will be back, although I've got a sneaking suspicion it will be as Metal Gear Raiden814StopsToday
it will be back
but not under the helm of kojima
I think they might still do a MGS: PO 2. That would be pretty awesome, the whole Wifi recruiting thing was genius. It was just as awesome as the good old days when the game Monster Rancher had you put all different CD's into your playstation and see what kind of monster could come out.WongB
I really hope they do come out with a Portable Ops 2, that would be awsome.
It is impossible not to be happy about this game. I will jump on it like a lion on a gazelle.
Afterwards, who knows. It's probably time to put the series to rest. As long as it meets all my expectations, I'll be happy as a bird. As long as Kojima continues making games that we will see on the PS3, I won't be sad, I'll be friggin' elated. Besides, this is what Kojima wants.
Enough with the animal analogies...
just becouse they said its the last one doesnt mean its true dont forget SQARE said FINAL FANTASY was the last game for them and they did 12 more games people change there mind if it doesn't do good theyll do anther one becouse they whanto go out big as they did something nice king247They did more than 12 more games, there are even more Final Fantasy games than that.
The SERIES IS NOT ENDING. Kojima just won't be a part of the design/story anymore. He said he will still work on the series, but just to point developers in the right direction. He said new development teams will still work on MGS though.ocelotcougar
Metal gear solid is.
Metal Gear wont be. There will bea new series that will follow someone, and as said previously, raiden seems like a lead contender saying as he is familiar and appears to kick some ass. Although i think Raiden will die like grey fox, Kojima will be like 'See, you love raiden now! Isnt he cool? Shame, cos how hes been killed'
Seems like something he would do.

i remeber i was watching gamemakers on the old g4 like in 04 and the creator said he named it final fantasy because if the game didnt do well that would be it

Yeah pretty much, it was there last game before going out of business, but lucky for them (and the fans) it just took off.
And thank you Devils Joker, you're the first person to mention the key bit of information. Metal Gear SOLID is coming to an end, not Metal Gear. Kojima is stepping down indefinitely after MGS4, to work on some other project(s), but someone else will take over and do something with it.

Hey... hideo has a lot of **** up his sleeve. I doubt this'll be the end. He'll prbly come up with some thing in between MGS1 and MGS2. Who knows? The man's a genious.

Just FYI Naughty Dog never sold their Crash Bandicoot franchise, just like Insomniac Games never sold their Spyro the Dragon franchise. Both licenses were published and owned by Universal Interactive (now Vivendi Universal).
Who knows, maybe Snake will be brought back to life and Kojima will get bribed by Sony to do MGS 5 and 6 to sell PS3's

If Kojima is smart he will kill of Snake without a shadow of a doubt. That way no one can make a copycat game. That's what the lady that wrote HP is doing. I'm pretty sure he is going to die a bloody death.... (HP).
Whoops.... "Spoiler Warning" my bad
Dont know if somebody already mentioned this but after the game is out, WE WILL have not one but TWO mgs Movies to look forward to.

i just hope ythey keep the formula the same - epic storyline, brilliant action packed gameplay, crazy bosses + characters and a massive in depth and game that immerses us for hours. Also, the series will be broken without Snake. raiden was teh character in MGS2 but it still felt good that Snake was there, even though he was not a playable character. This could be a triumphant end to the MGS seriesm4gicm4rty
Ummm...... Snake was playable on MGS2 ( looks like someone didn't play the game ).
