It seems the only way to get a decent co-op experience, off-line, these days is to boot up an emulator and play something from an ample Sega Genesis or Playstation One library. Today, if I wanted to play any co-op game I have to ensure I've wasted enough money to procur two copies of all necessary hardware so that my brother and I can play together through the glory that is on-line gaming.... even though he's just int he next room. Would split screen on my 64-inch T.V. really MAR the experience that much if I had to share it, NO!!! How about my smaller 32 inch old tube tv, again, NO!! When exactly did it become brilliant and thrilling to invest $1,000+ into just being able to play a game with someone in the same house? Nothing really beats giong up against 64+ actual people on-line but shooter aren't the only genre of game where you want top play with a buddy so why do those games get neglected? Imagine an RPG where you utilize the system from X-Men legends to switch between characters and if your friend wants to join in, he just presses start and he's in. Devil May Cry with a more over head camera or even split screen, as you wage war on demons with Dante and Vergil side-by-side. Or give us Godhand with a less obtrusive camera and a cohort at our side and allow us to rejoice at the hoamge paid to the classic Streets of Rage. Castlevania remake that allows one to control two protagonists or maybe just a game like Metal Gear Solid where one player controls Snake and another Ocelot through the story. Now that I think of it, why not give us such games, even if it has to be on-line, since I have already shelled out the money to buy 3 PS3's and run all manner of ethernet around my hallway and various rooms around the house. I wonder if we'll ever see games againe made for play and not profit?

I'm getting a little annoyed of games just putting in online multiplay and co-op and then acting like that's good enough. I understand that we're not going to have 16 player local play (god imagine how small your view would be), but local co-op should be featured for any game that bothers to make online co-op.

you see the flip side to that is. some devloper puts in local multiplayer/coop and leaves out online all togeather! it happens all to offten! Kane & Lynch Dead Men for exsample
Champions was a good game. But it got old fast. Warhawk is PvP. Not Co-Op.LordMe
i think he meant that you can play with up to 4 people per ps3. also a great co-op game for the ps3 is MARVEL i mean holy crap. by itslef it ain't that great but with 4 people it is ADDICTIVE AS HELL
