The Last Guardian and ICO collection delayed

Bad news for those who have been waiting for it for so long

That's a shame. Hope that extra time gets put to good use, though. If they can make The Last Guardian better by delaying it then I'm all for it.

Maybe Sony wants to save a big title for 2012 meaning no PS4 anytime soon.

I'm disappointed that the collection has been delayed but I'd rather they get it right than release something sub-standard.

As for The Last Guardian, I didn't really expect it to release this year anyway.

Well, the silver lining...it gives me time to finish all of the other game released this year that call for my attention.

The Last Guardian being delayed should come as no shock to anyone. When was the last time we saw gameplay? When was the last time we had a full article on the game? When was the last time ANY game wasn't pushed back? Lol.

Darn, I really wanted both of those this year, guess I'll have to buy a bunch of other games instead in the mean time.

What's another year... I've actually made it a point not to view any footage or screenshots of the game. As for the remakes, eh. It's not even Team Ico doing them, not interestedistuffedsunny

I guess I should update my thread but seeing as how both games will not make it this year I might as well forget about it. On the plus side 2012 is going to be better than I thought, TLG alone makes it worthwhile. I am glad the games are not releasing this year because with all the core games that appeal to gamers such creative experiences may not get the attention they deserve. Would be best if the collection releases Q1 2012 and TLG Q3 2012. Time is not the issue, I would much rather have the devs completely satisfied with the product instead it being rushed onto the market *cough* GT5 *cough*

i knew the collection would be delayed. The last guardian on the other hand really didnt have a release date just holiday 2011 i think last i heard but its a damn shame that game isnt coming out sooner i really want it. I can always play sotc on my ps2 but unfortunately my ico copy no longer plays even in a new ps2

Some internal team at Sony, I think. Really, though, you shouldn't be bothered by that. Sony's been assigning these collections to other developers since their inception. It's not like they'll end up harming the games in any way.

I can understand The Last Guardian being delayed, but how difficult is it to remaster a couple of last generation games for high-def? That's just ridiculous.worlock77

I assume the delay on the collection is just so it ends up being releases closer to The Last Guardian. A collection of older titles from that team could help generate some extra interest in The Last Guardian, after all, especially if they are planning on putting some sort of promotional material in the collection (a trailer or demo, perhaps?).

The delay is fine and makes more sense. Sony needs games for 2012. Most of their first party developers are releasing their games this year.

Where would the Last Guardian fit in the fall lineup? Resistance is coming out in September. Twisted Metal is coming out in October. Uncharted is coming out in November. Ratchet and Clank will most likely get an October release after Twisted Metal. It would not be wise to release a game in December. Other games such as Elder Scrolls 5, Modern Warfare 3, and Disgaea 4 are also coming out in the fall. The Last Guardian doesn't really have a place in 2011.

Sony needs games for 2012. Bioshock Infinite, Ninja Gaiden 3, Darksiders 2, SSX are probably all coming to PS3. Santa Monica's new God of War game is probably going to come out next year. Sly 4 most likely actually exists and will release next year as well. The first party lineup looks a bit barren for 2012. The final Yakuza game for PS3 will probably come out in April of next year along with the newest edition of MLB the Show 12. I also imagine that the Warhawk developers will put out their next game next year. 2012 won't be as great as this year, but this year is insane for the system. PS3 this year is similar to how the Wii was last year.

Ahhh so gutted this isn't being released this year... However I'm really excited for the ICO/Shadow Of The Colossus PS3 collection - they were my favourite games on the PS2 :)Jess_PlayingPS3
