Silent Hill 2... pretty sad story... and actually Shadow of the Colossus.... really turns the "save the princess" video game cliche on its ear. Bioshocks "good" ending was well done albeit too damn short. Heavenly Sword also had a good "emotional" ending.

MGS series have a share of emotional moments: Otacon's speech after Wolf's death. The death of E.E. and of course MGS3 ending... That ending almost made me cry like a lil girl.

A tie for me between Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. But since they're from the same developer, I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Fatal Frame III: The Tormented, Silent Hill 2 and Shadow Of The Colossus all have pretty emotional storylines. Silent Hill 2 had a very sad and opressive storyline and the plot twist was a shocker and I found myself feeling sadness and pride at the end of MGS3, which is a brilliant, emotional way to end a game.

Wow. Sure, break down, it happens, but salute? I mean....

Anyway, the end of The Darkness when Jacky is being cradled by whats her name - that pulled on my heart strings a little.

Xenosaga: Ep 1, when MOMO finally discovers who her "father" is, he plunges off the building to his death in front of her. Oh man, I felt so bad for her. Not sure if thats the most emotional moment for me, but it's up there.

For me thats a really easy question, because there has only been one time in a game that this has happened. I cried when Aeris was killed in Final Fantasy 7. Make fun of me all you wish, but I did. I was so upset.

For me, it has to be Shadow Of The Colossus. The game was very emotional because there were really no bad-guys and you just had to kill these 16 colossi who did no wrong but protect the land from evil. Every time a colossi fell from defeat I actually felt really sad because it made me look like the bad guy, I mean sure they were enormous but in reality the evil wasn't them it was me  I felt selfish for killing them and the music that accompanied the defeat of each colossi really got to me. Did I mention the fact that the ending was amazing

Hands down, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater's ending.

If you didn't get a chill or feel a bit of sadness when Big Boss saluted The Boss's grave, you have no heart. Also, when the timeline at the end appeared, and it got to the year 1972...

"1972-
The "Les Enfants Terribles" Project.

*pause*

The Sons of Big Boss are born."

My entire body was tingling.

Oh yeah, Heavenly Sword's ending was sort of sad, also.

EDIT: OH!! And Call of Duty 4!! OMG, two parts in that game made me bug out....

**** COD4 SPOILERS *****

Firstly, when the chopper goes down in the nuke blast and you walk a couple yards before dying...

and obviously, the very end, when that bastard Zakhaev and his cronies pop caps in Gaz and Captain Price right in front of your eyes, and you can't do anything about it...if only he could have slid that pistol to Soap a few seconds sooner!

Brokeback Mountain, Dancer in the Dark, 1 Litre of Tears.... oh wait, videogames? Well eh... none yet, I hope there will be real emotionally strong games soon. That Heavy Rain demo looked promising, although the animation is still a bit weird the actress was really really good.

Two games come to mind for me:

"SILENT HILL" - simply put, the creepiest and most intense experience I've ever had in gaming. This was the frist game in which I was so scared or creeped out, I seriously forgot I was playing a game.

"SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS" - the game had such a strange combination of emotions, and most of them were done in a subtle and eerily melancholic manner. there was despair, love, determination, and sadness, and aside from that, the game was just so generally beautiful that it had an impact.
