Hey guys - I've just recently invested in a Philips Cineos 32". Long story short, I was very happy with it until I noticed while playing PES2008 of all games that there is a slight variation in brightness depending on whether the ball / camera is focused on the left or right side of the field. Basically, on the left side of the field, the screen seems darker, as if the TV is adjusting some sort of brightness levels for whatever reason. Needless to say, I find it ridiculously annoying, and I worry that this is an issue with my TV and my TV alone (seeing as the non High-Def tv I used to use never experienced this phenominon).

That's the logic of my paranoid side.

The other side of me says that this is probably just one piece in a poorly designed puzzle that is PES2008, with frame rate problems and the like.

My question is - Is this a normal experience for high definition tv gamers. That is, when playing PES2008, do you notice this variation in brightness that I find very annoying.

Please someone put me out of my misery :-/ .

Definately not a normal experience for an HDTV, but since I haven't played the game I couldn't tell you for sure. Try playing another game and see if there is anything wrong. If not, it's probably the game.

This is just a wild guess but it could be a dynamic contrast setting that is causing it. Try turning it off in the TV menu.

I play Pes2008 all the time on my 360 and I've never noticed that before. I know the 360 version doesn't have the problems the PS3 version does but that still doesn't sound right to me.
