[QUOTE="G-Legend"]Thank God they took away the damn web-based thing that was lame. the new store is hot, sleek and way better than the first store I can't wait to use it. All they need after this is the Playstation Cards.Duckman5
I second that motion.
I agree, my perents are starting to get ticked of at me for using their credit cards...
also thank god that it's not web-based anymore, my router shuts off every few minutes...in the end...the store didn't work out well for me...

What does web based mean? Im a super tech noob. So can somebody explain this to me?

The old format of the store was pretty much a web browser structure. That was where when you click on a button for example, it takes a few seconds to load into the "next page". The rambling here is that upon seeing this new format, people automatically realized how cheap the old store was made and how slow it is seeing that now the store no longer feels like a web browser and finally more like an application of its own.
My only curiosity though, is that can you leave your music on while browsing through this new store format? I was quite pissed off about the old one where it just cuts out all the sounds when you log into the page.PSdual_wielder
Thanks for the memory!
It looks better and quicker. :)Devil_Huntress
How much better does Code Gease get from Episode X? It's starting to annoy me just a pinch.

Web based would mean that something lives on the web.
A web page is web based. A flash game on a site somewhere is a web based game. Anything you can't really access without the internet would be web based.
The news here is that apparently the store is not web based. Although, they are muddying the waters with the unclear terms here. They seem to be saying that the interface itself is part of a local app, although eight way, it obviously has to still communicate over the web.
Finally, a game you play offline would not be web based - it would be local. Even if you play it online, if you load it from some local media, it would be local.
That's where Im confused, here. They dont really seem to clearly say if the actual storefront is really local, like part of the new firmware update itself or whatever.
But I dont think it matters. I think the point theyre trying to make is the look and feel of the store feels more like a menu interface we're all more used to than a sort of web page looknig browser for the store.
Unfortunately, in the process, they really weren't very clear. That makes it harder for tech people like me to explain to non tech people like you, because they don't really say, so all we can do is speak generally and define a few terms loosely.
Hope this helps, though.

I remember you said once you had an xbox, just think of the new PSN store as XBL marketplace just different colors/material.
If you ever surfed the web on your ps3 you would know how SLOW it was. Basically the original (or still now) PSN store was web based so it used a web interface just like the browser which caused it to be slow.
