The Official Final Fantasy XIII Thread (56K Warning)

Just reached Chapter 7 and the game has certainly gotten a bit more challenging. I had a lot of trouble with that dual boss in Chapter 6 with Sazsh and Vanille. I had the strategy down, but just couldn't get to healing in time. So I just popped an Aegisol before the battle and won with relative ease :P I had to retry the battle 5 times though.

The story has picked up a little as well. I'm really looking forward to see how things pan out and how people are connected to what. Vanille has me so intrigued.

At any rate FF8 is the only Final Fantasy to date that was remotely hard when maxed out. Let's not even mention FF6, that was the easiest boss battle I've ever played in my entire life of any FF, any game AT ALL.

Yeah, but FF9's ending was worth it. It was kinda cliche, but I was quite young back then and I loved it. :P And after all which FF game didn't have cliche moments in it?

EDIT: My party is vanille, light, hope.

Probably the best party I think, I use syn/syn/med and buff the hell out of my chars, then switch to rav/rav/com to stagger him up pretty darn fast, if my HP got to half, i switch to med/med/med. Do the process and precisely, and that should do the trick.. And oh use sab and make sure you unbuff him.

Just fnished the game ... Wow it's so good!, and sad at the same time. I don't wanna give out spoilers or anything like that, but the ending is just amazing! Q_Q.. I rated the game 9.5/10, and I think i'll change my mind, it's definitely a 10/10!! RAWR!!

EDIT: Completion time 45:02:59.

Wooo, I just notice the typos on my last post. The tower is pretty big, but its actually about 8 floors technically.

When I upgrade a base level weapon to the max do I then need a special component to change the weapon and upgrade again?

Im having a hard time getting Vanille's Eidolon, i get the Gestalt meter so close to full and then die because of doom time. I'm using RAV + SEN and occasionally switching to MED + SEN to heal Fang. Does anyone have any helpful tips ? Much appreciated.

Just get Fang to learn the Ravager's Fire ability. If you don't have any CP, you can farm the Rust Pudding a bit behind you for about 1.5k CP until you get this ability. After that, just use a SAB/RAV, MED/SEN setup and you'll be done in no time.

I can't get past his second form, he's kicking my ass. He has this move that takes off all your HP so even if you are kicking his ass, if you're the least bit hurt you'll die. He also has a move that freezes all my characters, almost like confuse, or daize and they just stand there and die...this boss fight is not easy. Anyone who says it is lied. I have Even with 9000 to 10,000 hp it's programmed to take away all your HP...

So I have Vanille as SAB and Fang as RAV? does SAB inflict magic damage when it casts spells like, off the top of my head: Deprotect, Imperil, Fog and Daze? and if it does it boosts chain bonuses right?

Yes but it depends what level: for example

Lightnings Blazefire Saber: when it levels up to Blazefire Saber (*) then it needs a special component to become Flamberge which can be further upgraded and eventually become Omega Weapon. If its already fully maxed like the OMega Weapon is, then no you cant upgrade further. The component you need ends with (...)ite like Cobalite or Milerite something like that. For specifics on what you need to upgrade a certain weapon check out the FAQs on the FFXIII page on gamespot.

yes sir I was wondering this myself so i looked it up. Each weapon require a certain component to upgrade. For example you have to use the Perovskite to upgrade the blazefire. Well thats my good deed for the day so I hope a kitten doesn't get stuck in a tree because I'm not getting it down.

I have a good idea about that SAB ability I was thinking about switching to Fang. Thanks for the information. The blow doesn't take away all your HP. No matter what your HP is though it takes most of it away. Thanks for the hint.

^ Well here's what I did personally. Got me Vanille/Light/Fang, Start of the fight, the boss will cast that judgement thingy and basically reduce your HP to 1k? Before he does that, be sure to have fang buffing you up with Haste , start with Syn/Syn/Med. After that, switch to Med/Med/Med, since all of them are great healers, you'll be in full health in no time, then switch to Syn/Syn/Med again and buff the heck out of your characters. Then switch to Sab/Rav/Med, keep casting rebuffing skills untill you'll got him with unprotect and Poison. Since your really full buff, and his attacks is not that strong, switch to Rav/Rav/Com, and spam that till he got your HP to 3/4, switch back to Med/Med/Med to fill up your Hp, switch back to attack mode again. Do this for a couple of times and he'll be dead in no time, my time was 8:34 seconds I think, not great, but did the job efficiently. Hope that'll help you :P And I'm back farming DK vs the Dog in Gran Pulse -_-.... /sigh, i'll farm tomorrow D:

Hope grunt-sighs wayyyy too much and is just a little girl all the time. Snow thinks he is the man and can do anything, but like Lightning says, he is all talk.

It ends like a true Final Fantasy game. I love this game. I love the franchise, don't know if it's the best in the series but it's a good game. I'm ready to buy FF15 when it comes out! :D
