Yay! I finally got my first theme earlier today. Got the Loremaster trophy, and now good ol' Sazsh is gracing my PS3. I'll be changing it to Vanille though once I pass Chapter 11.

Man, I think I kinda screwed myself by becoming so powerful before doing the missions. Every mission I've done so far I've finished in less than 30 secs and the highest I've gotten is three stars. WTF? What can I do? I couldn't possibly imagine completing those missions any faster. In fact, most of the fights I have on Gran Pulse go by in the blink of an eye and I end up with just a couple stars. What can I do to 5 star these battles with my characters so powerful? Any tips? I never thought I'd be having trouble 5-starring EASY battles. TheEldestGodDo pre-empt strikes not work either? That plus low-leveled weapons and if really needed, shrouds. If not then you might have to wait until you get the accessory that extends the target time, can't remember what it's called, something like gold watch. Which you get by doing mission 64.

Like Shire said, using shrouds for some of the really easy missions (mainly pre-empt) combined with Sprint Shoes is the best way to 5 star them. I 5 starred all of the missions before maxing out and upgrading all my gear (even mission 64), so my target times were a little higher than yours probably. But what you CAN do is use unleveled weapons and/or not stat accessories. There's only around 7 or so missions (outta the 64) that you can't pre-empt with a shroud. Yeah, shrouds are kinda expensive, but I had like 30 shrouds by the end of the game (that I hadn't used), so probably won't have to use too many. I also recommend saving yourgame at the closest save point before attempting any mark as sometimes the Cei'th stone can be really far away from the mark, so it's just easier to reload your game and try again.

So you think it's better not to grind TOO MUCH, and not farm CP before the last boss? I'm currently on chapter 12 and I was thinking to farm that monster everyone was talking about. Maybe you're using leveled up weapons? I heard that if you use level 1 gear the target times in these missions will increase and you'll get 5-stars more easily.
I honestly believe you'll be better off if you complete as many "D" and "C" rank missions as you can before becoming a super-human bad@$$ like myself. Once you get to the place where the Wladislaus is you can teleport back to Gran Pulse and do the missions. So, basically you can go back to Gran Pulse and still have Mr. Wladislaus waiting there to cater to all your level grinding needs whenever you're ready. If you can get your hands on that "growth egg" before going back to farm the Wladislaus it'd save you loads of time, too.No problem, TheEldestGod. And yeah, sometimes it might be wise to attempt it once just to Libra, so your teammates won't waste a lot of time doing crappy spells.
And like TheEldestGod said, I also believe it is better to do as many of the missions as possible before maxing out (if you are trying to 5-star them, anyways). Eventually you'll get to the point where you HAVE to level up some more as the missions become much harder, but I'd say at least the first 40-50 can be done with maxed Stage 9 crystarium.
I wish I had known about Wladislaus before it was too late, lol. I was already 999,999 CP capped (and maxed stage 9) before the last dungeon from all the grinding I did for Traps and Ingots. If I had known, I would have probably continued on with the story because those seem much better CP overall.

Im at Taejin Tower on chapter 11 is there any good CP farm spots i need to take advantage of? Also am i at the point of no return to pulse yet? (until after the game) If not does it tell you that you cant go back? Thx!!-Hoax-
Mission 24 is a good farming spot for CP AND gil, but you can't repeat it until after you beat the tower. No, you are not really that close to the point of leaving Pulse (gotta go through Oerba first). And it's really obvious when the point of no return is. It pretty much tells you flat out.
Its cheap and kinda cheating
but I took out one of the huge turtles with the tusks with a death spell to the main body last nite. I got a platinum something that sold for 150,000 gil. I don't know how accurate it is since it worked on the first shot for me. I had the item catalog accessory maxed out. Funny thing is I didnt get the trophy for "fell a giant of the lowerland"or whatever. so I guess with trophy's cheaters never win
Death works great sometimes, but it is far from reliable. I used it for a while until I was powerful enough to farm them. You were just realllly lucky on Death working so fast and the drop, lol. It can be pretty bad. And those turtles aren't the ones you have to kill to get the trophy. Big, blue turtles unlock later after a certain mission that give the trophy - they are much harder and are immune to Death.

of course i forgot all about Oerba:) Thx! for the Misson 24 tip:)45% complete the missions all 5 starred... this is longer then i thought, and theres still all that gil farming to max out accesories...
Yeah, it'll take a while! Good thing most of it is fun stuff, and not just the menu-upgrade part, lol.

No problem. You can make like 350-400k an hour spamming Mission 24 over and over (the Cei'th stone and mark are in the same room, so it's really fast) with COM/COM/COM if you are fast. There are better ways to make money later, but are less reliable methods (ie: need good drop rates). Mission 24 ALWAYS gives a gil reward (6000gil) after each completion and is really fast.

yea your right it worked again but I didnt get any spoils :(how the heck do you beat Neochu? i tried SAB/SEN/MED with Vanille,Fang,Hope and spammed Death with Vanille, no luck? when my health is low i switch to MED/SEN/MED but its not enough, those little sh*ts attack so fast!
I recommend using Snow with any accessories that give HP and physical resistance. Go in with Vanille (MED), Hope (SYN), and Snow (SEN), and as soon as Haste from Hope pops on Vanille, switch to SAB/MED/SEN and spam Death. Hope should be able to keep Snow alive (assuming you've leveled his SEN role somewhat). I did this at Stage9 so my Snow only had like 10-11k HP at the time. After death works, summon on Vanille and do the riding mode to weaken them, then do RAV/MED/SYN and spam Firaga on them. They will go down slow, but it's safest. Maybe not required for you (I don't know how leveled up you are).
I'm underleveled for that fight too. I'm gonna try death, but if you really want to get rid of the little sh*ts, haha, would a summon help? I'm gonna go try him after I get done with gigantaur. Oh and I hate that the Cie'th stone and the mark are so far apart! Damn it would have been nice if they let you start missions you've already picked up from the map menu or something.how the heck do you beat Neochu? i tried SAB/SEN/MED with Vanille,Fang,Hope and spammed Death with Vanille, no luck? when my health is low i switch to MED/SEN/MED but its not enough, those little sh*ts attack so fast!

Oh and I hate that the Cie'th stone and the mark are so far apart! Damn it would have been nice if they let you start missions you've already picked up from the map menu or something. I'm about to try that fight, too. And I totally agree its a major pain in the @$$ that you have to travel all the way across the map for each mission.... especially when you gotta retry them! I took Naaro's advice and saved at the point closest to the mark, so I can just start over from there if I want to take anther shot at getting 5stars.I too took Naaro's advice and once Death finally killed him, I had to summon. Those little things are fast and strong, damn. Luckily it was really a matter of time really once Neochu went down. Done in 6 mins for a target time of 20 something mins. Sweet. I did this first before Gigantuar since my last save was at the Tower, so it was closer. But hell, now that I'm on to it, Gigantuars a pain too. He's fast. I've been doing the random instant chain technic, but the dude doesn't get interrupted when staggered, which is irritating. I tried Fang's summon but it's not enough to kill it during the stagger time.
Quick question, once your in gestalt mode, does the stagger/chain bar deplete? I never noticed it before, but does it deplete or is it frozen til gestalt is over? That would help a ton if true. If not, I'm gonna have to grind (which isn't so bad since I got the growth egg from Neochu), but alas, I'm going away for a couple of days, so no gaming til I get back.
Another question actually, if I re-did Neochu, do I get another growth egg? Does the growth egg stack up? Would be sweet to get x4 or x6 cp.
I'm having no luck whatsoever. I've went at him about a dozen times now, and he always manages to take me out with that screech spell before "Death" ever takes hold. Vanille is maxed out in all her main roles and has a maxed out Malboro Wand. How many tries should I be expecting this to take? Or should I find some way to survive that horrible "screech" ?I recommend using Snow with any accessories that give HP and physical resistance. Go in with Vanille (MED), Hope (SYN), and Snow (SEN), and as soon as Haste from Hope pops on Vanille, switch to SAB/MED/SEN and spam Death. That's some really bad luck on Death, TheEldestGod. :( When I got the Growth Egg, I was still at stage9 cap on crystarium, so the Screech move always killed me which just made me restart and try again. The more debuffs you have on an enemy, the greater chance of future debuffs landing which you can assume applies to Death as well. So you could put on Imperil or whatever else he isn't immune to, but the thing is, you have a limited time until Screech happens, so I don't know if it's worth the time casting other debuffs. Who knows. But on the time I DID get Death to work on him, I had put Imperil on him first. Could have just been random luck.

I think the stagger bar DOES go down in while in Gestalt mode, and I'm 99% sure after you do Gestalt mode, stagger goes away completely. Or the bar resets. Pretty sure anyways, lol. On the giant cactaur, I just got Instant Chain to proc, and my 2x COMs owned him pretty quickly. I recommend putting Defog prevention accessories on Hope (or whoever your healer is if you have one) as well as Ribbon and Goddess' something (shortens debuff time). Because if your healer get silenced/fogged, you'll probably die shortly. Assuming you aren't going COM/COM/COM with all 3 having Instant Stagger anywho. I only had enough items for 2, lol.
And no, there's only one Growth Egg in the game sadly.
Up to the beginning of Chapter 8 now. :) Acing that Pulse Armament mini game got me really frustrated! Other than that, everything is going smoothly so far.
I'd wait till you get R&D Depot store for some serious upgrading. You unlock it after doing mission 7. The x3 experience stuff is from Creature Comforts store for 80gil per. You need almost 40 of them to get to the 3x bonus.Kinda stinks you can't really upgrade your weapons effectively until later on. Anyone know when you can do the whole 3x experience booster and then mega-booster? I know you can buy the materials at some point, but when?
yokofox33
These are the best big boosters.
1.Ultracompact Reactor – 40,000exp – buy for 50,000gil from R&D Depot
2.Particle Accelerator – 4,800exp – buy for 10,000gil from R&D Depot
3.Superconductor – 400exp – buy for 840 from Lenora's Garage
4.Perfect Conductor – 751exp – buy for 1,600gil from Lenora's Garage

Yeah, I figured it out now. I unlocked the R&D Depot and upgraded one of my weapons significantly. I just have one question though: is it more effective to use one giant experience gainer with the 3x multiplier, or do I use as many as I can at one time with the 3x multiplier? Like do I use one material at a time, or all that I have at once?
More at a time. They can remove your bonus so it's better to use more and get it removed instead of losing the bonus after applying just 1.Yeah, I figured it out now. Well for cheaper components yes but for the likes Ultra-compact fusion reactors which are the most expensive and give the most EXP, you shouldn't recklessly use unless you know your not going to waste EXP by going over the MAX LVL limit. Just understand this before you use them, to max a tier 1 weapon you should only need 1 Ultra-compact fusion reactor + 3x bonus, for tier 2 weapons you need about 3 Ultra-compact fusion reactors + 3x bonus, and for tier 3 weapons I think it was around 25+ Ultra-compact fusion reactors + 3x bonus to max out. I wouldn't bother using Ultra-compact fusion reactors on accessories because they have a much lower level cap.Yeah, I figured it out now. At first, I was iffy about not having many (or any according to some people, although it did have a few) towns, but while playing the game, I honestly didn't notice. I was way too into the story and characters to care about exploring some town with NPCs that spout useless dribble. Plus, from a story perspective, it wouldn't make sense if you could waltz into towns being as everyone hated you.
Also, I was kinda worried about not having MP and thought it wouldn't be balanced. Turns out, it was probably the most balanced FF to date.

Definitely this. I was worried about not having explorable towns and a world map. Turns out the towns wouldn't have made a lot of sense and Gran Pulse gives you more than enough room to run around for hours on end. I was also worried about the lack of interaction, but the little interaction that was in the game just didn't seem to belong there anyway. .............................. Also, the lack of control over individual party members............ I have more control than that. I can direct them all at once. Its much easier, much more fun, and much more effective.Oh yeah, that was another thing I was concerned about. But like you said, you DO control them. Maybe not individual actions, but you have more than enough control over what you want them to be doing. I ended up loving the battle system soooo much - imo, the best in any FF game so far. It actually kinda reminded me of a sped up FFX-2 system which was also really fun imo (despite the other flaws of the game, of course.)Also, the lack of control over individual party members.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who has beaten the game, can you tell me a few areas you can go back to. A list of all of them would be great, but even the ones just from your own experience would help a lot. Can you go back to Taejin's Tower? Or every part of Eden? Oerba? Thanks!
Everything you've named. Pretty much everything from chapter 11 and 12 is fully accesible after you beat the game. Once you get to the last area you can access two portals. One takes you to Gran Pulse, from which you can get to both Oerba and Taejin's Tower. The other takes you back to Eden (which is a great place to farm soldiers for incentive chips).Anyone who has beaten the game, can you tell me a few areas you can go back to.
