[QUOTE="gizmo_dave100"][QUOTE="TheEldestGod"] I know, right? I laughed with amazement. Sephiroth's final form would never had let you off that easy! :PTheEldestGod
i found it piss easy yhr first time but he always JUST recoverd from stagger before i finished him, then you said use 2 SABS and it was so SO easy! in 7 did you ever fight the 2 optional weapons? ruby weapon (under the sand by the gold saucer) and the emerald weapon in the sea? they actually made sephiroth's fight seem really easy!

Oh, lord, I grinded for like three months in the northern crater just so I could beat the ruby weapon. The emerald weapon went down easily enough, but that ruby weapon was one of the toughest, dirtiest bass turds I've ever come across!

really? i found it the other way round, i had the knights of the round summon and rubys hp wasnt that high, it was emeralds air etam that did waaay to much damage, then i read that air etam is materia backwards and the less of it you have equipped the less damage it does!!! did you ever do the chocobo racing/breeding?

[QUOTE="TheEldestGod"][QUOTE="-Hoax-"]Hey Guys i need some help! On Chapter 11 Taejin's Tower 2nd Tier you have to complete 3 missions in order to advance in the tower.... Mission 21-23. I done all 3 missions but only got a 5* on 2 of the missions is there any way to redo the missions because there is no Cie'th Stones you get the mission from the Statues but they wont let me redo them :(.-Hoax-
You have to actually complete Taejin's Tower in its entirety before it allows you to redo them. You should just go back after chapter 12 and redo them. They'll be loads easier and there's a mark there that drops 6,000 gil everytime you kill him, so you may want to redo that one a lot. :P

THX MAN!! i was getting worried because i saved it without getting the 5*s and im going for a Platinum that would have annoyed me so much!

No prob. Yeah, that would have been a royal pain!

Chocobos? Man, I had chocobos of every color and variety! From crossing oceans to climbing mountains, there was nothing my chocobos couldn't do! :P I never knew the exact strategies of each weapon, but I figured out that if you equip "Knights of the Round" on one character and then "Mimic" on the other two you get a constant flow of high-powered summon to knock that HP right off ol' Ruby Weapon and you only had to stop long enough to bring the MP up on that one character, recast Haste on everyone, and heal up. He went down in no time. I tried the same trick on Ruby, but he desided he liked to suck my buddies into the quicksand so there was no one to mimic me. :(

I dunno how far you are, but there's a turtle in Chapter 12 RIGHT by a save point (literally, right by it), so you kill the turtle, if nothing drops, you reload the game and keep trying until something drops. After something drops, you go around fighting the soldiers that are close by (they can also drop incentive and credit chips making it a win-win!). Then you can reset the spawn of the turtle but going into a nearby door then zoning back in and the turtle will have respawned.

If you are doing this on Pulse, the way I did it in Chapter 11 was to just go to that Behemoth and Dog fighting (where a lot of people grind CP), and kill them like 4 times and you should have enough TP. You can also kill the nearby "baby" turtles for the chance at Gold Dust, but I dunno if it's worth it as they take longer to kill then the Behemoth/Dog.

Thanks for the tip, I have the growth egg so I think I'll abuse the dog and behemoth that you were talking about to help max out my characters.

Wow so I got the game on Saturday and right now I'm in chapter 6 with Vanille and Sazh in the forest and I'm just in awe at how beautiful the game looks and the cut-scenes look sick I'm like whoa :o because they look amazing I just love to watch it lol.

I might not be so far in it but I belive the battle system is not "just pressing X". I have tried to exploit it without being a total "X" whore and I've found it quite surprising lol but I've yet to learn a lot from it.

The story seems very slow to develop right now but the finding out about the characters keeps my going.

The game does feels linear but I don't think it's different from other FF games (FFX anyone).

So far that's what I got so don't hurt me :P

oh geez, that went well. My computer accidently submited that without me typing anything. Anyways, I was going to say to Shadow. It's a FF game, you should expect at least 20 - 25 hrs of gameplay if your quick. But the average play time is sometimes 30 hrs or more if you want to get everything and level up your characters to the max.

Yeah there's no way you can beat the game in 20-25 hours. Because later in the game the battles become harder and you need to grind a bit more in order to defeat the last bosses. Now about the platinum, I'm around 50 hours in the game and I'm not even close to it. You need A LOT of grinding and farming if you want to max out your stats and obtain all the weapons and accessories. Especially the Treasure Hunter trophy is exhausting and a pain in the ass.

Most people will take roughly 40-45 hours to beat FFXIII depending on what they do in Chapter 11 (ie: stop and grind/do missions or just continue on with the story). Platinum took me around 115 hours, but that is including grinding I did in chapters 1-10 which was not really required.

Man I'm extra frustrated. I'm on the last mission and I inflict status ailments on the enemy, then i build the chain gauge and I wait ready to press "X" to activate Highwind as soon as it staggers but I swear Lightning and Hope are just standing there without casting spells when the gauge is increments from staggerin....This battle is taking way toooo long :(

Mission 64 is a long battle no matter what you do, and imo, staggering him isn't very useful - mainly because he wont be staggered for long. I used a more conservative approach to the battle that didn't really involve staggering, and my main "damaging" paradigm was SAB (me, Vanille), COM (fang), RAV (lightning). I actually staggered it a couple times using this approach, but he always went into his shield really quickly, so the damage was minimal. I'd also be in MED/COM/RAV quite a bit as the battle wore on.

*Start with Protect/Shell/Bravery/Faith shrouds*

I had these Paradigms:

Vanille/Fang/Lightning

SAB/SAB/COM (Make this your default paradigm; putting Poison on the boss will make the fight SO much shorter overall, it's a MUST; the COM is there to just keep steady damage on the boss when you are debuffing)

SAB/COM/RAV (switch to this after getting Poison to land, and continue putting other debuffs like Deprotect/Deshell/Imperil)

MED/COM/RAV (used this for healing most of the time unless the damage was severe)

SEN/SEN/SEN (use this when he readies his biggest attack - Wicked Whirl, starting at around 50% HP)

MED/SEN/MED (quick healing with a little defense; MED/MED/MED also works)

SYN/SYN/SYN (after healing everyone up when the boss goes into it's shield, immediately switch to this and get those buffs back up as the boss will start taking them off 2 at a time with that one ability; Protect and Shell are very helpful to reduce some of the damage, Bravery/Faith are also nice, Haste is a must)

The reason I controlled Vanille is because of her debuff wand and landing Poison is such an important part of the battle. Plus, personally, I think I heal better than the AI.

Using this strategy, I was able to beat it reliably and 5-star it. Hope it helps!

Thanx alot! I'm going to abandon my approach because I've tried two times and he just casted death on me (insult to injury). I was trying to the whole strike fast with as much damage as possible then regroup thing but its too unreliable in this battle. I'm definitely going to try your way later.

Sound advice! I'm really close to platting the game, but man did I need a breather. I love grinding/farming, but I was just mentally exhausted lol. Took a break with UC1 and Valkyria Chronicles (finally found it!) and then I'll plat it. I want it platted before I buy SO4, which I notice some of its trophies involving in-game Battle Trophies...and if they're anything like SO3's BT's...*bashes head on desk*

No problem. Hope my advice helps! One thing I'd like to mention about my setup is that it hinges on the fact that one of your characters (Fang or Lightning) has access to Haste (so leveled SYN at least a little). The reason is Vanille can never learn Haste unfortunately, but I still wanted her for her improved debuffing. You can replace Vanille with Hope probably, but you might have to rely on your teammates to cast Poison ((I don't remember if Hope has Poison).

Also, I recommend equipping Imperial Guard (or whatever it's called, 20% physical/magic damage resistance starred) on Vanille (or whoever you are controlling) and Royal Guard (again, I don't know if that is the name; gives 15% resistance to physical/magic damage) on your other party members. 15-20% might not seem like much just looking at it, but it will definitely add up over the course of the battle.

@ Hoax, I don't remember that battle really, nor any fire move. :/ Sorry. You need some Genji gloves to get the over 99,999 trophy. D:

Heya Hoax. Yeah, he can be a bastard. Make sure you go with some conservative Paradigms like SEN/COM/RAV and SEN/MED/MED. Don't be afraid to go RAV/RAV/RAV to really jack up the Stagger gauge, too. Also, be sure to either use Shrouds before the fight for instabuffs, or if you don't have any, start with a SAB/SYN/MED Paradigm and wait until you're fully buffed and it's fully debuffed (though I forget exactly which debuffs it's susceptible to.)

Also, you won't be able to break the damage limit with your characters until you get the Genji Glove accessory, which is awarded by complete some of the last Mark Missions. Eidolons are capable of it though, particularly Bahamut.

In order to get an attack that hits for more than 100k, then stagger a weak enemy and use the level 3 move of pretty much any Eidolon while he's staggered. (Except Odin maybe. He sucks so much:P ). I did this with Vanille's Eidolon btw.

Odin is by no means the best, but he's one shotted like 14 Adamantortoises for me now, that were at about 1/3 HP after the first Stagger. He's proved his awesomeness ;)

I don't know why but I like bahamut (I always have) so I findmyself using Fang more now. I havent summoned anyone other than Odin and Bahamut and I'm post game. I wish the summons were more necessary unless I just havent been utilizing them enough but I only use them to take down turtles and to restore my health.

I agree with both statements. I like Bahamut best, so Fang is almost always my party leader. And other than getting high hit points for the Hard Hitter trophy or restoring your party.... The Eidolons are pretty pointless. I also HATE how they pronounce Eidolons in the game! I - dOle - ons. Just say it out loud and when you get to the "dole" part pretend someone just dropkicked your scrotum. Sounds terrible.

I also HATE how they pronounce Eidolons in the game! I - dOle - ons. Just say it out loud and when you get to the "dole" part pretend someone just dropkicked your scrotum. Sounds terrible. TheEldestGod

Yes, this. :x

I can't stand it. Plus it makes me feel like I've been mispronouncing it for years....

Yeah, that, too! I could of sworn I had it right! However, I do appreciate Sahz for ending a 10 year dispute between my brother and I on the pronunciation of the word "Chocobos'! He kept saying Ch' - ka- bose..... So annoying. :P

I don't get all the damned apostrophies in the first place. Do the Japanese not no that those apostrophies are supposed to represent missing letters? I'd like to see the full words at least once. Maybe in the datalog or something? What are they really? Falcondancies? Ladypouncies? Cigarettemeths? How will we ever know?

Technically, they ended this debate in Final Fantasy X (as far as games go). :P For some reason, my friend and I used to pronounce it "KO-KO-BOES" when we were younger. Like during the FFIV - IX era, lol. Then came along FFX, and we just kinda looked at each other when they said it. I have no idea why we said it like we did. D:

They each have 3 "default" roles. However, I do find they are each more effective with one or the other. So, if I had to pin each one to a role I'd say it goes a bit like this: Lightning = Ravager, Snow = Sentinel, Sahz = Synergist, Vanille = Saboteur, Hope = Medic, and Fang = Commando. This is, at least, how I found them most effective.

Well, to be honest, by the time it really matters which way you've upgraded them you'll have earned more than enough CP to upgrade them almost completely. With a little grinding here and there you can keep them maxed out in all three roles for almost the entire game. So, I really wouldn't focus too much on how I spend my CP.

theEldest you have helped me a lot and i really appreciate it. just one last question. i was taking a look at the upgrade pictures that were posted in this thread. i noticed that for some weapons ( after upgraded) can give an ability know as "stagger lock" and "stagger maintenance". what exactly is the difference? should i only upgrade weapons that give some sort of "stagger" bonus?

Stagger Lock - Best used with COM's because they give very good stats to strenght. with Stagger Lock you CANT stagger the enemy with that characher, you can still increase the break gauge but cant stagger so if 3 of your charachers have a Stagger Lock weapon you will never stagger them.

Stagger Maintenance - Increases the time the enemies stay in a stagger state.

Quick Stagger - If the Enemy is 5-10% away from being staggered when a Quick Stagger weapon hits they will automatically be staggered.

Thanks, thats very useful info. will a COM with stagger lock do A LOT more damage? or do you think its best to go with quick stagger?

After around 55 hours of gameplay I finally got the Growth Egg and 5-starred 45 of the 64 missions :) .Even though I was low-leveled (around 6-8k HP in my characters) I beat Neochu with a bit of luck after many retries. The funny thing is that I nearly died by these Pikachus after I casted Death on him:P .

Now I think it's time to farm Wladislaus and finally finish the game. I guess Growth Egg will make my life easier and I'll try to exploit Wlad as much as I can.

Mission 55. The Cie'th Stone is in Oerba on top of the school. And Neochu is in Aggra's Pasture. You need a Chocobo to reach it. It's one of the toughest battles, but I saw a good strategy for low-leveled parties in the net.

If you refer to those same photos you used again you'll see the red and purple bars at the bottom that represent strength and magic abilities of each weapon. You'll notice the weapons with "stagger lock" have significantly higher stength than magic, but when compared to other more balanced weapons with no ailments attached to them the strength advantage isn't always so significant. Fang is the only one I upgraded with a "stagger lock" weapon simply because I almost never use her for her magic abilities while everyone else has perfectly balanced weapons. Her attacks are do A LOT more damage as a COM than any one else in my party. So, I think it does make a difference. Sadly, however, you have to pretty much max a weapon out before you really notice the increase in damage. Its a bit frustrating when you spend 100s of1000s of gil to upgrade a weapon and all the difference you get from min to max is about 10,000 hit points. Trust me, towards the end of the game this barely makes a difference at all. Once I got to Gran Pulse I had to remove my good weapons and equip everyone with crappy unleveled weapons so I could have a better chance at 5-starring the missions. Honestly, I didn't notice much of a difference between the weapons. What I'm getting at is this: Don't worry about it! The benefits aren't worth the headache! Just upgrade them whatever way is easiest for you. The only time its going to matter is when you're trying for the treasure hunter trophy - in which case you'll have to upgrade them all anyway. Hope this helps! ;)

A retarded amount. About 1.5 million Gil just to get a Level 100 Ultimate from a starred 2nd tier. That's why I took a break from FFXIII lol, I love farming and grinding, god knows I've done enough in MMO's, I just needed a break :P

Its almost 2 million per weapon from tier 1 level 0 to tier 3 level 100 assuming you farm for your Trapehedronz and don't -god forbid- purchase them. So for one maxed weapon for each character you'll need about 11-12 million and 6 farmed Traps. However, you don't actually have to max the weapons out. Its MUCH MUCH cheaper if you don't. Just get them to tier 3 and try to live with what you got. You still have to afford to get every other weapon to at least tier 2.

What I like to do for cash in redo Mark Mission 63 over and over, the Adamantortoise. He drops Trapezohedrons for rare drop, and Platinum Ingots for common drop (sells for 150,000 Gil.) Even if he doesn't drop anything, you get a Gold Nugget for completing the hunt, which is worth 60,000 Gil. My favourite Gil farming spot.

aw, dude, that takes a lot of the pressure off! Thanks for the tip! I haven't even fooled with that mission yet! *turns on PS3 and positions self firmly in front of television for the next several hours*
