To The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Thread. This is where you will obviously get every single

drip of news about this 5th installment of the Elder Scrolls series and you will know what you will be

expecting and preparing for in your journey ! I am finding so much news about this game that I had no choice but

THE POINT OF THIS THREAD

Surprisingly a few people always click in a thread like this to just look at the news and then say "What is the point of this thread ? It will die in a few weeks since its so early and etc" well wrong.. I keep control of my threads and if you really do not know what this thread is for it is-

1. For all of us to discuss this title
2. to be informed as much information as possible
3. so hundreds of other threads in the future could just be a post in here
4. So we could all have a good conversation about the Elder Scrolls V Period !

Definately my most anticipated game of 2011.
Bethesda might be known for some glitchy games; but you can't deny that the best RPGcreativity of the current era is coming from them.
IMO they're embarassing the former kings of RPGs (namely SE) and showing them how an RPG should be done.
This might be the greatest game ever.

Here's another leaked video of actual gameplay from a build in late 2010. The environmental audio is impressive with the birds and such. Also, looked like either cave trolls or the Uderfrykt type monsters in the beginning. Hard to tell it's dark in there.

I want to get it for the PS3 but at the same time, the PC version will have that great modding community. I'm leaning more towards the PC version. How about you guys?scar-hawk

For as many hours as I put into Elder Scrolls IV, I really hope this games lives up to the personal hype I have for it. If that video someone posted earlier is reliable then it already looks fantastic to me. Wish I had a true gaming PC to get the full experience out of it with mods and additional community content.

• Leveling will run on a 1-50 scale, but it won't simply stop at 50. Once you reach level 50 you will gain experience at a slower pace, so leveling will be brought to a crawl.
• When you level you will gain health, as well as have the choice of increasing another trait: stamina, health, or magic.
• Unlike previous games, there will be no class selection at the beginning of the game. Instead there will be perks to unlock, similar to Fallout 3.
• Level-scaling has returned, meaning depending on how you play, the game will tailor the difficulty and your experience. Ex. If you enter a town, and are given a task of locating a missing person, the mission will look to see what dungeons you have been to, and place that person in one you have yet to explore, and place enemies that will match up well against your strengths and weaknesses.
• There will be 18 skills to learn, which is slightly down from Oblivion.
• Skills will adjust to those that want to focus on one, or those that want to learn a bit of everything.
• The game takes place in the Nord region of Skyrim, 200 years after Oblivion.
• The players are part of the dragonborn, and are called upon to stop the prophetic return of the dragons.
• The world is made up of five cities consisting of dungeons, cave and underground areas, as well as a host of other areas. Each area will have even more variation than any of the previous games.
• Unlike previous games, conversations will no longer zoom in on players faces, but this time the characters will act more realistic. They will walk around, and perform tasks while talking to you, while only occasionally looking at you.
• Combat is more dynamic, with each hand being assigned a function (weapon or magic)
• Each weapon is being designed to feel different in your hands, as the team is really focused on improving the combat.
• There is still a variety of enemies: zombies, skeletons, trolls, giants, ice wraiths, giant spiders, dragons, wolves, horses, mammoth, saber-toothed cats, and other creatures.
• Questing is also more dynamic as certain quests will become available depending on how you play. If you're a mage you may be approached by another mage, where as a mêlée fighter may be avoided by the mage.
• Dropping items or not picking up certain items can also have a change on events. Drop a dagger and you may cause a fight between a group of men, or simply have a boy return it to you.
• The engine is also brand new, with snow falling realistically, branches react to the wind, and the water flows dynamically.
• You can now sprint if needed.
• The third person view has been improved.
• The in-game HUD has been removed, to allow for a more open screen.
• Finally, Dragons may attack cities at random times.

You know, it would be nice if we had a little "cross over" here, considering it's just the next province. Like some advantage or "extras" to having an Oblivion save. Maybe even carry some items over? :lol:

I may be in dreamland with this, but it would be killer if you can cross a "game membrane" into the next province with just a simple disk swap. Where "going North doesn't end" in some invisible barrier or a giant mountain you can't possibly pass.

Hey wouldn't it be awesome if they added the ability of online questing. Or a MP component like Monster Hunter's? That would be epic. It would become my most anticipated game of the year.scar-hawk

I just hope the character customization is intact. I like how the main character model is beefier than in the last engine, but I don't like that he looks like Conan the Barbarian. MrSelf-Destruct

Actually, I've been wondering: The info we've gotten says that the player is a Dragonborn. So, do we even get to choose a race?? Or is it like Morrowind where they refer to you as a dark elf even if you're not?

some things on graphics:

in terms of character models, it seems as though there is a lot more muscle definition. this is great not just for the sake of making your character jacked (ive read that you can change your body type in some way during character creation, so id guess you can make your character more lean or fatty) because the lack of muscles is a big reason why people looked so damn hideous in tesiv. assuming all of the stills in the screenshot video were real, the closeup of the woman is a great example. she's obviously not a bodybuilder like the barbarian-type guy theyve been showing from behind, but you can see the definition in her face and it makes the character much more attractive.

there still havent been any examples of the improved draw distance, but its something that is much need on the consoles. part of establishing the character of the game world is to allow for some good landscape shots of that game world.

they have also said they are improving how the water reacts. water in tesiv looked beautiful from a distance, but it was like some sort of alien sludge if you tried to interact with it. again, a nice touch if it ends up as an improvement.

and last but not least, animations. still no footage, but it goes without saying much improved animations would benefit the game.
