~The Orange Box~

I just got the Orange Box over the weekend and am really enjoying it.....

I was wondering what y'all thought of it and I was also wondering how much will never playing the very first half life affect the story of Half Life 2 and the two chapters? Also I never really understood what the humor was about in portal (after reading reviews) and now that I have played it know exactly what the reviewers are talking about...it is quite a humorous game! :)

I own it and Love it. If I had to come out with one bad point I would say that the load times sometimes get in the way of the game. Just when I get into a certin section of the game another load screen comes up. Messes up the flow.Blackwater001

how much of the back story from the original half life come into play in these games

Was never into games like Half Life, But after trying the Orange Box I really got into the story and I am still enjoying it!!!!

I am still only on the first game, "Half Life", the game all the way to the left. And it feels Like I have so much more to go.

Tried Portal, seems cool.

And Online is Ok, just kind of into the single player now.

So whats the deal with all the games, why would some people not start with the first 1??? are they all seperate games???? Remakes????

The story in Half-Life 1 does set up 2, but you actually won't be too far lost without playing it. I personally liked the story of the first one a little better because it was a little simpler. Going from 1 to 2 seemed like a complete 180 to me. They are quite a bit different. I personally liked Half-Life 1 better and would recommend it to everyone. It is definitely one of the best games I've ever played. To me 1 had more action where 2 seemed to have large time gaps b/t fighting. If you decide to try 1, get it for PC, b/c the PS2 version was absolutely horrible. The control scheme was horrendous and ruined it. Sorry for babbling, I guess the short answer is No, not playing the first won't hurt you too much on the story flow of the 2nd.

Loved Portal, was better though after starting it and coming back to it later for me. 2 levels before the last were hard for me too overall a lot of fun and good humor.

Like Team Fortress 2 also, first TF for me, only thing I dislike is spies sapping my turrets and taking me out with utter ease. Engineer being my favorite class equals out to a lot of frustration at times.

Can't wait for HL2 episode 3
