went to my local futureshop and bestbuy.. theres always only 2 or 3 ps3's in stock (i ask them) so yea, its still selling quite nice. and everytime i go i always hear somebody asking about the price and if they can buy a ps3 or not.
canadians still havent made the jump to next gen yet, because most of us are waiting for the ps3 price to come down.

I'm Canadian and I made the jump. PS3 + HDTV ftw.
If you sony fanboys really want to make yourselves feel better, change the 360 to Japan only. Now that's good for a laugh, hahahaha.austin_is_god
lol, I love it when fanboys call fanboys, fanboys.
Hmm yeah it's selling very well especially considering it's price. It may have sold close to 6 million units by now as it's stock is almost cleared out and 6 million units were shipped. Shaqneel
I think it's around 4.7 milllion now.

And you are calling me a fanboy of what exactly?
Everyone I know has a 360, and they keep on making fun of me for buying a PS3, but I'll show them.
You can't compare the launch of the 360 and PS3 side by side.
Yes, the 360 got a head start, but also, by the time the PS3 launched, there was a much larger market for HD gaming. The pool of those looking to get a next-gen console was considerably larger when PS3 hit the shelves, as opposed to 360.
It might make you feel better to see a chart with the exact same line on it, but it's oversimplifying the story and it's pretty meaningless.

The PS3 numbers can only get higher.Dogswithguns
um..ok
did you come to that conclusion all by yourself or did you have help?

And when the 360 launched, it had no competition whatsoever.

I believe your right on the money here. A lot of Canadians are into the Xbox360 and Wii as well just like Americans but I think more Canadians are waiting for the PS3 to come down in price to jump all over it. I own both the Wii and PS3...I can honestly say that all my friends who have played on both like the PS3 better and have all told me they are going to buy one in like a year when it's a lot cheaper. The PS3 is ready to EXPLODE!
Coming to a conclusion about console sales at this time is premature. It's like scoring a run in the first inning and assuming your going to win the game because of it. We still have 8 innings to go.
The only conclusion I can come to when it comes to sales is that with so many people still buying PS2s, I think there are a huge amount of consumers who aren't ready to go next-gen yet.

Actually in july ps3 outsold 360 by over 2000 units up here in Canada, so that tells you right now who will end up taking that market when the ps3s smaller game line up is still seen better than the xboxs larger one in the eyes of the canadian consumer.
with 100million ps2 owners, anything with the word playstation is going to sell really well, how could anyone doubt something that has been in first for 12 years.
by the way a shiny white wii next to a shiny black ps3 looks really cool, i had to put my 360 somewhere else bec it is kinda ugly

...
That's mean.
the 360 launched without competition and 200 dollars cheaper
the PS3 selling the same being 600 dollars ,not having a lot of exclusive games and having to compete with the 360 in full swing and with the Wii is a good sign
But the PS3 will start selling really strong when it drops its price in EU and Japan too ....

Here, here!
When looking at this chart, I just realized that the ps3 has sold about the same amount of units as the Xbox during its first part it's life. I think if sony can launch a competetivly priced ps3 this holiday then things will start to change.schoony_5
forgot to post the chart
