There will either be a graphics loss or a huge framrate problem plus tons of pop-up
My pc is way more powerfull than my PS3 and it still sometimes struggles to play crysis
But who cares........Crysis sucks, its just Far cry with a stupid story
Another rumor has many excited, but don't they all? Over the past week Crysis has been rumored to eventually be available for the Playstation 3. The rumor started with developers speaking of the production of Crysis on the Playstation 3. Of course, this has not yet been confirmed. However, the possibilities of Crysis coming to the Playstation 3 are very real. Many ask, how real?
The possibility of a modified version of Crysis on the Playstation 3 is likely. Though it will be a modified version due to how powerful Crysis is, there is still much controversy. Many believe that Playstation 3 can handle Crysis and many believe that Xbox can handle Crysis's powerful game play. Nonetheless, many clash at this opportunity to argue between systems.
Beginning with Playstation 3, assumed to be the most likely system to play Crysis, although this is controversial. Truthfully, many believe that Playstation 3's Blue-ray compatibility is a dominating aspect. However, it is not as dominating as assumed. Since Playstation lacks important aspects that the game will require.
On that final note, brings me to the Xbox 360. An aspect that Crysis requires to be played on any platform is DirectX 10. Xbox supports aspects of DirectX 10 while Playstation lacks this feature. Many think that this feature is what makes Xbox the platform that will be able to play Crysis. However, there are many more things that the developer must consider.
In conclusion, neither Xbox 360 nor Playstation 3 meets all the requirements. On the other hand, many need to remember that Crysis will most likely be modified before it is playable on either system. So as much as it was stated that it may be coming to the Playstation 3 is as real as it coming to the Xbox 360.
What do you think? What's your opinion? Comment, argue, agree, and message me!

Crysis DOESN'T require directX10 to run. In fact, it only needs direct9 to run. So a modified version of Crysis can indeed run on PS3 eventhough it doesn't have directX 10.
Since DirectX 10 is not required, it's not a question then if xbox360 is a better platform to run Crysis then. Now it is all coming down to the computing power and graphical power.
Realize that the ability to run directX 10 (or directX 9) has nothing to do the raw power of a machine's graphical rendering force. If Crysis can only run medium on xbox360 and/or ps3, I don't see any point of porting the game over to console, because the medium setting of crysis looks pretty bad - no where near the beautiful pictures of many other games.
However, there's no way to run Crysis on ultra high on any consoles, because xbox360 doesn't have the raw power to render it and ps3 doesn't support directX 10.
That leaves running crysis on high setting on consoles. Is it possible to do it? I think so, but it would require some major work. By the time the porting work is done, Far Cry 2 will be out of the door, and why would anyone want to buy Crysis?
Because of this, I believe it's very unlikely Crysis will ever be ported to anywhere, unless the developer wants to use the port code as a base for the future technology.

Heavy Rain sucked bad, one of the worst games I've ever seen. Rumors are getting old and annoying, so lets just wait and see what the official news are.SPD_WeBmAsTaH
what makes you say heavy rain is the worst games you have ever seen? where have you seen it? Everything I have seen about this game has me excited as hell...
It's possible that Crysis would play better on a PC, but lets face it, that would have to be one hell of a PC, like, IDK, an uber XPS with all the top of the line options, hard drive, graphics card, processor, etc. If bought seprately, a quadcore processor is well over $1,000, so you'd save if you just got the top of the line processor when you had your machine built, not to mention that graphics cards can run over $1,000 as well if you get them after market, so you'd have to have an XPS built specificly for Crysis and high end PC gaming. So we're talking like a $1,200 gaming beast here. Granted, you could run Crysis on a lower end machine, but come on, we all want to get optimal performance out of our game, right?
IMO, a PS3 is the next best thing to a 1,200 dollar gaming XPS. When it comes to the 360, let's compare:
The PS3 has a BD drive, and the Cell Broadband engine, which the 360 does not. Also, the PS3 (depending on what model you bought) generally has more hard drive space. Given these factors I'd say that the PS3 is the optimal machine for Crysis to come to.
And anyway, all this is all rather null and void, seeing as how our informer inside Crytek sayed that "Crysis cannot come to the 360 for technical reasons." The thing just can't run it. Case closed. The 360 can't run it. You know it, I know it, we all know it. And anyway, it's not really open for disscusion, seeing as the person inside Crytek sayed that the 360 can't run it, and I think that, as the people perting the game, they would know, don't you?
Furthermore, it is in Crytek's financial interests to bring it to a console (in this case the PS3) because PC version sales are down, and by bringing it to the PS3 they will be apealing to a larger audience, so I think that it is pretty darned likely that Crysis will be coming to the PS3, and there's not much more to say.
oh, and on a side note, would you rather play Crysis on a little PC monitor, or a 42 inch 1080p plasma TV?? mechworrior762
I have a 46" HDTV, a 20.1" PC monitor and I also have a HTPC, which is obviously capable of full 1080p. I honeslty enjoyed Crisis the most on my 20.1 pc monitor.
:roll:Yeah, I bet you did enjoy it best on your PC and PC monitor, considering that's all it's currently out on.
i completely and entirely hate crysis.
the ps3 comes out with all these face melting games then crysis comes out and nobody cares anymore.
pc ruins everything...
shroom76
but without the PC, where the hell in gaming would we be now?

This man speaks the truth.
Well. Personally I would love to see Crysis on PS3, but only if it gets the 100% FULL POWER of the PS3, that way not only we could get an awesome game, would boost the PS3 sales UP. Its useless to play a crapy PC-PS3 port, like FEAR.......
In my case my PC is way old (cant run very well the MS flight simulator 2004), let alone crysis, I would have to upgrade and spend lots of cash to play crysis on PC......so for the likes of me (I dont use my PC for gaming besides MS flight simulator 2004, mainly web browsing........)it all come down to this.
If you have the cash to upgrade for a better PC that would be best, if you dont, well lets hope for a 100% FULL PS3 POWER, PORT OF CRYSIS.

- Learn what Blu-ray is, it is just increased storage capacity, it won't make the game run faster/better. Crysis only takes around 10gb last time I checked, I'm sure you could compress that to fit on a 9GB DVD. (And you wouldn't even need the super high res textures in the first place, so that would reduce the filesize right there.)
They both have only 256 MB RAM and 256 MB VRAM, the VRAM is fine for medium settings, but the RAM is a major problem.
(Before you say you could reduce texture size, textures (and models) are stored in VRAM, not RAM, because it is local to the GPU.)
Then again this could probably be overcome by dividing levels into quadrants then loading when you walked into a differnt quadrant. (seeing as 256 MB is 1/4 of 1GB (1024MB))
