The PS3 is very enticing at $550 CAD

for brand new units (with receipts) that appear regularly on my local Craigslist.

I can't decide between the PS3, the 360, and a new PC.

Convince me in a direction?

NEGATIVES:

- The PC is several hundred bucks more than I'd like to spend and lacks console RPGs. There are more bugs on PC games, longer boot-up times because, well, Windoze has to be running too! Also, having to installl games is becoming tiresome. I also do not want to spend $1k to build a decent rig only to have it be outdated in 18 months.

- The 360 will never truly support keyboards and mice.

- The PS3 has limited games right now.

POSITIVES:

- The PC runs Windoze and Vista, both of which I need right now since my main computer is my MacBook.  Games are dirt cheap. Online play is usually free, and KEYBOARD & MOUSE!!!

 - The 360 has lots of quality titles and exclusives like Gears of War and the upcoming Halo 3 (but neither supports mice anyway). HD-DVD has a decent library, though the current news of Universal's move into neutrality could be the doom of HD-DVD.

-Blu-Ray is sweet. $550 for this sort of technology is quite tempting. There's lots of potential for this system, and there will be many games that I'm looking forward to. HDMI and 1080p are standard, meaning that I won't have to get an "Elite" edition for digital connection to my HD-LCD. Not made by Micro$oft!

The 360 does support the mouse and keyboard now (the update from this week), the HDMI with the PS3 works funny with blinking of the outputs when you which from XMB to Games/Movies and back again (I haven't had that issue with the Elite)

I have both a ps3 and xbox360.. as of right now I enjoy the 360 much more than the ps3.  However, there are a number of great ps3 titles that will be coming out over the next year.  When those titles are released I can see the ps3 becoming the better console.  So I guess it all depends.. if you want great games now pick up a 360, but if you're looking long run you have to consider the ps3.

By the way I got the 60gb ps3, resistance fall of man, and an hdmi cable for $508 AFTER tax through a deal at our local Meijer where you get 20% off one item then an additional 15% off if you used their creditcard.  So you might be able to find an even better deal than that.

This should be in System Wars as it compares systems.
