The PS4..................Any Ideas?

Okay, we all love our PS3's, but what about PS4? I think that on the PS4, we might have the option to use a high-res camera to be IN THE GAME, into the body of the hero! For example in Ratchet and Clank game series, we move the person moves, and it looks like we are in full controll of the body, like a mirror, except when we look in the screen, the person strares back with the some emotions as we!

I refuse to talk about the ps4. I'm not buying a new console for quite a long time, ps3 still has a lot of mileage left imo. if nintendo releases a new system with BC for the last 2 generations I'll buy that.

I hate to say it but, based on Sony's history, the PS4 could drop in 3 years. Whether or not that happens is a different story but for now, I'm going to say that that's the case. As for what will be different, I have no idea. I really don't want to think about it.

The PS3 has only been out for 3 years, and I'm really getting tired of all the PS4 talk. Can't you just enjoy what you have?

any ideas?, i have one, don't release it until for a loong time. focus on ps3 first.

Well, if he wants a PS4 now he's obviously willing to drop $800-$900 on gaming as long as he doesn't have to deal with 'teh fugly 720p grafix'

Also, before the PS4, we are going to see an implementation of "getting in the game" through head mounted game controllers that use your brains neurons and receptors. They have already been tested and in the works, you can find videos here on Gamespot's site or on google. I am sure with this technology once they have released it to the public and worked out all of the glitches, that they will create a style of gaming "helmet" that you can wear. This basically could just be the same controller fitted around the insides of the helmet, built in speakers (surround), and a display for infront of your eyes.

This could not only have great applications for disabled people, who may be paralyzed, but it could also have great application for fat slobs trying to rub one off while shooting zombies

The PC is just heading into a time where we will see some enhancements in graphics. More detail in models, more roundness, more dimension, etc. But all there is is about 6 games using it and the only game that shows it off somewhat is Dirt 2. But we still have 2 more years until the PS4 would drop and if we are to hear any info on it, probably no rumors until 2011 or Q4 2010.

My opinion is that they will do away with the CELL and seek out Intel or AMD. 2-3gb of memory, 1-2gb dedicated to the GPU and it will be a Dx11 GPU (Basing this on 1080p games). Probably based on nVidias G3/400 or ATIs R8/900. Blu-Ray, 4USB Ports, 2 HDMIs, Ethernet, Component/Composite (Games will still scale down for those that have not upgraded). Motion Sensing remotes and 3D gaming (the need of a 3D TV ofcourse). I also think we will see game hardcopies start to be done with around that time. PSN, Xbox Live, Steam (PC) etc are showing that is the way to go. That is my tidbit.

i don't even want to think of the next generation of consoles. Most developers don't take advantage of the full potencial of a console cause they can only learn so much in a console lifecycle. I was tottaly psyched when i knew this generation would last longer than usual :D

This. The PS3 is only like 2-3 years old. And developers are just starting to unlock the consoles full potential, as well as having the ps3 connected to the internet, i cant possibly see why the need for a ps4 til much later.

And 720p? Thats the only reason you want a new playstation console? Aah come on! I dont give a toss.

But hardware can be maxed out by various reasons. you could use the console on it's full potential, but in terms of developing, theres always new ways to write code and take advantage of the console from a software point of view.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head, i mean, the games even look better the longer the console is out, look at uncharted 1 compared to uncharted 2. Developers understand how the console works and unlock its power over time. Automatic system updates via internet, and downloadable add-ons, DLC, and downloadable games.

Im looking at FF13 and god of war 3 as well as heavy rain, and all i can say is, "Hotdog, we have a weiner!"

one thing i'll say, i just hope that the next generation wont rely on downloadable service only. i h8 to pay for crap that i "don't own". i like my collections in my room, not on some freaking clowd service. Let's hope all console manufacturers take something from sonys antipiracy playbook , and the physical media lives on.

Yeah, well, nothing can really beat have the actual physical hardcopy of any form of media entertainment, im pretty sure they wont rely on it too much =) just as a side thing.

Even the pspGO, they already know they screwed up cause now sony are in plans to make UMD disc's data downloadble onto the pspGO

I love my PS3 but, if there will be a PS4 then it should be 100% BC to my PS3 game collections.

FYI Sony is intending to make the PS3 live until 2016 so that might be an indication of how early we are discussing it, and put in mind the long living consoles are required because games now take longer to develop, remember in the days of the PS1 a game has been released in 1996 can have a sequel in 1997 and another sequel in 1998 and a spin-off in 1999 but now a game cannot have a sequel for at least two years (excluding left4dead2 because they are using the same old engine with the same old codes and everything) so long living consoles are essential.

built in disc changer, the ability to open multiple widows for different tasks at once (game, internet, photos etc) piture in picture kinda thing, built in camera, ill come back when i have more ideas...winner-ps3

Naughty dog are a small dev team, by today's standards, but they really know how to make quality platformer action games for ps3/2.

Im thinking MGS4 came pretty close to using the most out of PS3 as well.

Bottom line is, personally i want this generation of consoles to last as long as it can. If Uncharted 2 is 100% of the PS3 power, the i am quite impressed.
