Warhawk - 6.5, big complaint is that it's online-only.

Lair - 5.0, big complaint is the controls of the game, using the Sixaxis to control the dragon is a pain.

So, do you guys take into account reviews by magazines like PSM? Or more of what IGN andGameSpot have to say? Or all of them? Or none at all?

Saw the review for Warhawk coming for being online only. Lair, what can I say? I'm still picking up both on the first day. With that said, reviews don't sway my mind too much. I take it for what it is and then play the game. Either I agree or not, that's when I decide whether the game did poorly ordid well.

i usually go by ign and game informer only. i take gs's reviews with a gigantic grain of salt 90 percent of the time. same with everyone else usually. gs generally brutally underrates a game or rediculously overrates a game, and very little inbetweens. thats just my opinion though.

none at all

mountain_duwe

the only thing that matters about a game is how you think of it, and if you enjoy playing it. reviews are in the eye of the beholder (reviewer). take for example, i WILL buy lair, and i WILL buy warhawk. no review will sway me. now, no review is perfect. look at tenchuz. gamespot and ign gave it like 6.0s, but my friend has it on his 360, and i played it and its atually pretty fun. therefore. i dont really listen to reviews, nor have i ever really.

I feel like, for the most part(with exceptions), GameSpot underrates games and IGN overrates games.

If there was a site that took IGN's and GameSpot's reviews and averaged them...I'd subscribe to them.

I was pretty disappointed to see the low scores. I was really looking forward to Lair but aside from the visuals, there's really nothing next-gen about it. Warhawk too.

Looks like I'm gonna have some cash to pick up Tiger Woods 08 and Heavenly Sword after all.

psm is okay. xbox magazine, on the other hand, is the most biased piece of pie that i have seen in a while. listen to them hyping perfect dark zero in issue august 2005.

"Microsoft's betting on perfect dark zero to be xbox360's killer app"

"so, we have a good amount of faith, that when it hits, perfect dark zero will be a must for every xbox360 owner's library"

while in psm, the only mistake i saw, was the inclusion of beautiful katamari in a preview stating it would be multiplat on ps3 and xbox360. but then again, this was before the devs decided on the 360 exclusive, so i suppose its a legit mistake. while, the xbox magazine's comments are after magazine writers have seen gameplay running on dev kits.

reviews should be taken into slight consideration. They're not always dead on but they're usually from someone who likes a specific genre of games. I think warhawk getting a 6.5 is too high. I would give it 4.0 for failing to be a mock battlefield or battlefront game. And yes, I played beta but im not getting into a discussion. I love battlefront and battlefield, i dont like warhawk. That's just me. Lair on the other hand I will wait to see what users say about it on these forums

First of all I hate it when people put games down because they are online only. You don't even pay full price for it. It's like those reviews of arcade games and saying OMG it isn't multiplayer or something.

Anyways I never really liked Lair, however there are games that have taken my heart that were rated very poorly.

Review scores are for fanboys.

well, as we all know, the review of Warhawk and Lair in PSM is extremely biased, and worked for OXM prior to PSM, so . . .ot may be real, but its biased

I think all sites and mags overrate and underrate games. So I read them, but I make up my own mind. like Warhawk for example a 6.5 based on what I've heard about how fun it is I would have expected an 8.5. I still plan on getting it.

for me I don't care about what they say at all, I'm the one who decided if the game cool or not.

sometimes they give soe games low score but when I try it was very fun & awesome, so that why I don't listen to them.

The Warhawk review is idiotic given that the price for the game is much lower "because" it is online only. Makes me think we either have an idiot reviewer or someone who just wanted to fail some games.
