Place the install data on PSN.

It's so simple that it's brilliant at the same time. If Sony were to place the install data on PSN a week before any game were released, anyone that planned to purchase the game could download the data and install the files prior to owning the game. The benefit to gamers is obvious, removing the delay from unpack to play. The benefit to Sony and the Playstation? Also obvious in providing a service that fans will enjoy and killing another reason that fanboys and whiners love to complain about.

I don't think there is much different and waiting for a few minutes for the installaton is no big deal we are in the 2 year in the PS3 life and we got used to this if this solution was mentioned in the early stages in the PS3 life it might have worked.

So what do you think do you agree with their solution?

It sounds like a good idea. It likely wouldn't be done with a lot of games. The Devs could get lazy.

it's a good idea and it would be very handy but that's a lot of unnecesary storage space for sony on their servers and the devs might not always be able to do that.

I don't think the main issue people have with installs is the waiting prior to playing. The main issue I believe people have with installs is the amount of space they take up. While developers have gotten better with this lately, there's still the fact that a lot of games still use installs and that most of those installs can take anywhere between 3-5 GB of space. Multiply that by however many games you want to/will get, and say good bye to your hard drive space, and this is before anything else. Thankfully, Sony chose to use a non-proprietary hard drive design in the PS3, so this is 'fixed' by putting in a larger drive. However, not everyone (current and future owners) is necessarily tech savy enough to know this, and realize how simple it could be.

What you bring up here I don't really see it as a solution, more like a temporary duct tape fix. While the player would no longer have to wait for the install when you get the game, the player will still have to wait regardless. With your idea, players would now have to wait for the install data to download first (how long it takes dependent on the connection speed, which would vary from person to person), and then install it. All this is doing is changing when you wait, not to mention the fact that you really can't play anything online while you're waiting for the download.

I believe time would be better spent by developers figuring out how to code their games so that the install is not needed (or a vastly smaller sized one) while keeping the great performance of their game. This in effect would solve the primary issues with installs.

i would rather wait till the game comes out rather then have twice the waiting time to download sometihng thats 5gb then install it. but its an option i guess, i just think its silly, and why would sony waste servers to do this.

This is solving a non-issue.
