3rd party exclusives is not going to help consoles win the the stupid console war. By next year there will only be 2 3rd party exclusives for each system. halo and Gears for the 360. God of War and another new title for the PS3. IT will come out. Just like Gears did with the 360. The rest of them will definately go Multiplatform on all systems! Its the only logical way to go and these next gen games are getting very expensive to make. If you want good games that these developers make then they need to go multiplatform to survive. yeah the graphics and crap will be watered down and stuff and if you dont want to get it then dont get it. We the people will decide the fate of these developers and no one else. It up to them to make the game console specific to its potential. And all you 360 retards need to stop thinking that just cause DMC is multiplat doesnt mean the stupid console war is over. Your an idiot for thinking that. 360 titles will go multiplat also. There i had to get that out. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I don't care about exclusives. If i get a couple of Xbox 'exclusives' on my PS3, I'm happy. It does not disadvantage anyone in any way whatsoever. Game developers get more money, 360ers get PS3 games, PS3ers get 360 games, so why should it be a bad thing? The only people who may be affected in a bad way are sony or microsoft, who may recieve less sales due to customers buying the opposite console instead. But I'm all for games coming to both consoles. What annoys me is the spiteful people who want everything for themselves, but complain when their exclusives go to the opposite console.

Halo is a first party game, not third. That doesnt matter though the point of it is, more people get more games! why do you DMC4 fans weap in sorrow because your game is going multiplat, you should rejoice because more people will be able to see how fun the game is. As for microsoft fans thinking they're all that now...dont be suprised when bioshock goes multiplat, exclusivity comes and goes and as long as the first party companies are making good games then i'm happy.

I would argue the opposite actually.  For the most part, the highest selling games have always been exclusives.  When a developer focuses on developing a game for a specific system, taking advantage of its capabilites the games usually turn out better.

If devs made multiplat games and really worked hard for each console and invested time for each version i see no reason why there would be a problem.

Can we please stop treating wikipedia as a credible source. All of the information is placed in there by people. Unless there is a credible source to back it up, I disregard it as quickly as someone on these boards sayin that something is "confirmed".

Exactly. It's only a good thing when 360 gets DMC4 and Assassin's Creed or when PS3 gets Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Saint's Row. Well, it's a good thing for gamers anyway. But Sony and MS have never put food on my table, they've never paid my rent or let my dog out or mowed my lawn or went to work for me when I was feeling tired or ill or lazy. And they're doing well enough for themselves that I won't shed a tear if a 360 user decides to not purchase a PS3 or a PS3 user decides not to purchase a 360.

I understand that people get excited when exclusives change hands... it's sortof like, I don't have to pay $400+ - $600+ for a new console anymore, but I don't get these people who see it as a personal victory that someone who has another console has a game that they have? People are just really dumb, and the people who make a big deal about this console war are just double-digit-IQ-having marketing tools for the "Big Three".

Too Human,Bioshock,Mass Effect,Eternal Sonata, etc disagrees with you. MS makes sure to keep their good exclusives (the only exception is Oblivion for obvious reasons), but Harrison says that exclusives aren't important.

BTW: Do you know know what first/second/third party means?

I think Phil Harrison was very wrong if he did say exclusives dont matter, because they do, they can be a deciding factor as to if you want to buy the console or not.

As for your question, first party is owned by the company like microsoft OWNs bungie there is no possible way bungie games would go to another console unless microsoft sold bungie, second party i'm not sure about, and then third party is fare game for anyone. If your third party then you decide what you develope for, and if you make an exclusive thats normaly because someone said "hey thats a sweet game we will give you "x" amount of money if you make it for our console only.

I beg to differ. 3rd party exclusives are still an important part.

Shadowrun, Bioshock, Dead Rising, Lost Planet are all 3rd party exclusive are drove or are expected to drive sales.

Yeah third party exclusivity is great but to go so far as to say "dear lord we lost this game, lets boycott the company!" is just stupid. Of course third party exclusives help move consoles, but if they go multiplat should we really freak out and get pissed...no  we should just play the game because thats what we do.

As long as the good games hit PS3 I could'nt care about exclusivity. For me its all about first-party game and Sony rules on this part...
