I'm a bit disappointed..
We should be able to connect through mics in game.. also with the browser.
I hope that's change asap..
i'm not sure if we can access photos either, or play our own music over the games'

I know it's not out yet, and i shouldn't be quick to judge.
even though the text messenging is great..
There should be an easier way to communicate like through a mic or something

they are still working on that. 2.4 update is basically like a basic concept and improve on it overtime. and ingame music is only for some games, its up to the developers

yeah.. i'm starting to lose patience though.. :/
been waiting since launch for updates :?

I guess its because the ps3 is trying too hard to be everything -_-; that it's hard to advance fast in one section..

I just wish voice chat worked better in online games. Also they could make it a lot easier to get up with friends on there.

2.4 is a basic concept that actives all these things so that we will stop whing. In future updates a lot more will be possible for in-game XMB.

Why in the world would you want to access your photos while playing a game, let alone use the web? Be realistic. "Omg, Wait, let me find cheat codes for this game."

Okay the in-game chat would be cool, because then you could talk to people during single player, and you could probably set up matches online faster and for games that don`t support voice chat you could talk to your friend, kind of like a Ventrilo or Team speak. But atleast they have the basics down, obviously 2.4 isn`t the last update so they will improve it so just wait a bit, if enough people want it Sony will bring it. I do however believe they should have brought the web browser function, that would have been 1 step more unique for Sony`s in-game XMB and it would have been better than what any other console could do because then you could check out walkthroughs if you`re stuck and then go back to playing your game.

People need to stop complaining about everything and all the firmware updates. Enjoy what we have on July 2nd because it's better than not having it at all. All other functions will most likely arrive in the future.

"and ingame music is only for some games, its up to the developers "

Are you sure that's what it means? I think it's up to developers wheater or not they want ot feature custom soundtracks, like back on GTA: SA for XBox. This would help so you can still hear in-game sounds and what-not, but with your own music, rather than having your music go over all sounds.

And that would be real nice if we could go to browser while in-game. We kinda see this happen in MGO, when they bring you to thier store. And for now, I'm just happy I will be able to message my friends in-game instead of exiting it. Besides, I'm usually in the smae game my friends play with anyway.

I'm curious about what this means too. In the demo, they were playing PixelJunk Monsters. They turned down the in-game BGM and started their own music. You could still hear the sound effects. It seems like you should be able to do this in any game where the BGM can be muted. However, at the same time he said that only some games will support it.

It seems to me that you would be able to play your own music regardless of what is going on in-game, though I'm not sure that is the case.

Or maybe they want to watch porn, and quickly make it look like they've been playing the game with no sound if someone trys to catch them. :P

Let's just hope that's true. I just read the IGN article and I understand. Here's hoping for GTA, MGS, and BFBC patches for me.

if you read the playstation blog he will state that was a mistake and they took it out of the video. It is up to the developer to patch the game because MS has a patent out for in-game music.

Let the update roll out first, before you criticize it.

You can't judge something until you have a first hand experience. The videos of course demonstrated that the 2.4FW update is just a slapped together pile of rubberbands....but it may or may not be more than that. Lets wait and see. :P

well, to be honest. I rather have the ability to view pictures in game than be able to change the frequency of my voice.

It's pretty silly to have that ability and not have voice-voice through friend's list while in-game XMB..

It seems I'm asking for much, but the ps3 is getting to that point in time where it hasn't just come out :T
I'm just saying it's getting to a point on how long exactly "just wait" means.
