hey guys can you tell me what you like about psps and how to put the games in and what games do you recamend?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I like PSPs mainly 'cause I can put music & pics on it. Games I recommend are Crisis Core-FF7, Star Ocean-First Departure, FFTactics War of the Lions, Jeanne D'Arc, & Star Ocean-Second Evolution. Used PSPs cost about $130 & new ones cost about $170.
First you need to think about which one you want, the PSP 3000 costs just over £100 and the original costs about £70. The Go! is not yet released but I would not recommend it as it cannot play UMDs forcing you to dowload games, meaning you need a connection the the playstation network. This also forces you to pay full price for games which could be bought cheaper on UMD (£10-£20). As for games....
shooter - resistance retribution
action - God of War Chains of Olympus
action/adventure -Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
family - ratchet and clank: size matters
strategy - sid meier's pirates!
EDIT: I bought the original PSP, it is very similar to the 3000 only a few differences, not worth paying an extra £30+.
you don't need the ps3 just for the psp go tho :) u can download psp games off from the playstation network store which u can find from Medio Gocool....so i can just buy the games at the store? i dont have a ps3 so i cant get go when it comes out
turokdude
Games from the store never really go down in price, no as quickly as the UMDs do. So you can't really pick up bargains, I wouldn't suggest getting the Go.
i will get the psp 1000 and i live in the usa so its how much dollars
turokdude
Yeah, that's the psp I got. The PSP 2000 & 3000 are a bit more expensive. Buy a used one at a Gamestop or online.
Keep in mind that the PSP-1000 has 32MB of memory in it and the newer models have 64MB, so they load faster. Also the newer models have TV-out, which means you can hook the PSP to a TV and play the games or movies on the TV. The PSP-1000 does not do that. Plus the PSP-3000 has a better screen.i will get the psp 1000 and i live in the usa so its how much dollars

ok....but my mom can find games off ebay for very cheap....thats where i get most of my games
turokdude
Well don't get a Go, it cant play UMDs
ok......i plan on selling my ds and games this week so i can get a psp
turokdude
I honestly wouldn't recommend selling your ds just to get a psp. you'll be kind of disappointed ATM. if you can, try to save up some cash and get a used psp and keep your DS and games because the DS has a larger more broad library than the PSP has right now. plus, if you save up and wait until the new season of gaming you'll have a much better selection of big name games coming out, including a couple from square enix and some other highly anticipated titles. It's not worth pawning off your ds and getting 50 bucks just to be disappointed with the PSP's limited number of titles.
Not to say the PSP is bad, but it's better to have the option to have the DS AND the PSP if at all possible.

Yea I agree with this. I wouldn't sell the DS. I would just save up and buy a PSP or hint at it for your birthday or Christmas, which ever comes first. DS is awesome. Just because it doesn't play movies, music, ect. and not as good in the graphics, doesn't makes the DS the inferior handheld. Games are the main focus and the DS has plenty of good ones to make the DS well worth keeping.[QUOTE="rikguenther"]

lol not to be in bad taste, but i didn't quite catch it either. i didn't think OP's grammar to be that atrocious. Plus OP is probably like 14 as he said his mother buys him games from ebay. Which, considering, he may not actually be able to afford a PSP, which is the reason he's considering selling his DS.
My second suggestion would be wait til christmas, and ask for a 3000, i'm sure with the psp go! coming out everyone is going to snatch those up before they realize how badly they got ripped off.
i will get a normal psp game and the first game will be daxter
turokdude
Daxter is a great first game for psp! it was bundled with my psp when i got it a year or so ago. It's a good 3d platformer with a decent level of challenge and a bit of charm to really reel you in. Plus, it's probably super cheap by now. just be sure to get a memory stick if you're gonna get a used psp, a 1gb will be perfectly fine if you don't plan on using it for music and movies, but if you can find bigger for better price then i suggest you do it. plus, don't get all caught up in sony brand accessories like cases and the like, you're just paying for the name. I got a nice case from walmart for 20 bucks taht came with 2 umd encasements, 4 slots to hold umd games and two pockets for MSPro's. it's soft on the inside and it was a great deal. Having said that, i do highly recommend you get some kind of case as the screen will get eaten alive if you just leave it out in the open. don't bother with teh screen protector plastic adhesive things, a pain to put on correctly and if you get one speck of dust trapped in there... you'll rip out your eyeballs
But yes, i suggest you pillage gamestop for some nice used games, or, if your mother is willing, you should check out gamefly. it'll let you rent the games and try them out (as most video stores have yet to rent a good selection of psp games, if any) and you can even buy them directly from them if you really like the game. It's how i ended up with Final Fantasy XII. Good luck!
where can i find memory sticks? well i guess my mom could find some on the internet
turokdude
you can find memory sticks really at any big retailer, like best buy, target or walmart. You'll pay a premium for Sony branded products, so i suggest you look for other reputable brands like Lexar (personal experience, no problems) and get something big for cheap.
You can get them online if you don't mind paying the shipping, but sometimes it's just easier to go to the store and look.
EDIT: Oh, and make sure it either says PSP compatible somewhere on the box/website or it's a Memory Stick Pro format card. SD cards won't work
depends on where you look. I got my 2gb Lexar brand MSPro with the adapter for 15 bucks on sale at walmart. Then i got an 8gb Sony branded one for 40 at best buy on sale. Just shop around and compare prices, i just wouldn't pay more than 10 or 15 bucks per GB of storage space
eg. 1gb $10-15
2gb $20-30
4gb $40-60 (although this is pushing it)
Again, if you're not using it for anything more than gamesaves you really don't need a humongous stick. 1gb is probably bare minimum but 2gb is a decent size. And you can always back everything that's on the memory card up onto a PC if you need to put something different on there.
how much games can i save on 2 GB? or can i get more GB as i go along?
turokdude
you can save a huge number of games on a 2gb. I'm thinking hundreds if not a thousand or so. And of course you can get more as you go along, just pop out the old MSPro and put in the newer, bigger one. Just be sure to copy the contents from one to the other to keep them in sync so you don't realize you don't have your gamesaves on your new big stick.
I have 3 MSPro's
1gb came with it, used for pictures (never gets used, who am i kidding)
2gb bought later, use it for gamesaves
8gb bought later, use it for music and movies.
The psp is rather expandable in the storage department, so don't be afraid to get a cheap 1gb now and in the future upgrade if you NEED to
cool i will just start with 2 GB
turokdude
sounds good, that way you can still download a few things from the PSN if you feel like it, be they demos or full games. Glad i could help
As opposed to an, abnormal psp?i will get a normal psp game and the first game will be daxter

I totally agree with this. It's a good idea to save your DS because there are alot of good games coming out for it.
hey can i get memory sticks off the internet?
turokdude
You can get them any stores that sell electronics and cameras. But yes, they are found everywhere on the internet too. eBay would have thousands of them I imagine.
yes you can, i already answered this for you, just remember to shop around. Amazon, newegg, tigerdirect, any place that sells electronics really. just google it
I wouldn't buy it from an actual person, but a company, like amazon or play.com. On second thoughts, you should be okay if you buy it from a user with great feedback.how about ebay?
turokdude
if you buy a PSP get one that is NEW. that way you get a warranty from Sony. If you buy a used one, who knows how long it will last until it breaks. The PSP is much more fragile than a DS. The laser lens, the screen, buttons, case, everything. It's not made for little kids that drop things. Just so ya know.
and yes if you dont want to pay a lot for games, DO NOT wait for the PSP-go. That thing doesnt use UMDs. Which means you wont be able to buy used games, rent games, borrow games from friends, or sell games to Gamestop. And the UMD movies you'll find are in VERY few stores now. The best place to buy UMD movies is online. or just download (for purchase or rent) movies and TV shows from the Playstation store. You can now access the Playstation store from your psp (using WIFI that is). Just be sure you get a MEMORY STICK too. Because the PSP has NO internal memory. Just like the playstation 1 and 2. You have to plug the memorystick in to save games, play mp3s, or download demos from the playstation store.
I have had my psp for over a year now, and I higly recommend it. You should get the Ratchet and Clank bundle if possible.
hope that helps. enjoy
