um.....a lot to give for a gf??? what kind of a question is that? if you think that's too much then don't do it cause you'll be sorry.....and what kind of relationship do you have to ask such a strange question? i mean if you love her just tell her you love her and buy a ring or smt....if she's into games and stuff then fine give her a PS3 just don't make it as a sacrifice or smt or she just will not get it.....
If my gf didint own one already, i was planning on getting her one. She likes it a lot, so I would say do it. But instead of a PS3, I ended up getting her a Zelda DS instead, which I think she will like.

yo man ps3 aint a mans toy... i mean i kno a bunch of girls that play the ps3. the ps3 should be mostly a teenager toy cuz since when do adults play video games? its usually kids that play video games, but i guess not now. adutls and video games dont go together :)
why dont you ask her what she wants first? Maybe she doesent like it anymoe, and that would make it look like you bought her a gift for yourself (little confusing). If she does still like it, dont tell her you traded in stuff for it, sya you payed with cash.
Just trade all the games you don't play and pay the difference. That way when you break up, and you WILL, your not to much out of pocket and will still get to have done a cool thing.

True not all relationships fail, but a lot do. Look at the Divorce rate its over %50. And the TC mentioned that his GF lives in another state hmm we all know how successful long distance relationships are. So I think I'm being more realistic than pessimistic. Here is an example of pessimism "Why get married when you can just cut out the middle man and find some one you hate and give them your House, car and half your money ?"

If you love your girlfriend and you think that this gift would make her happy, then go for it. I would do it if I had enough money on my hands and I love that person.
I just bought a 400 dollar bracelet for my wife, so...I think 400 gift is legitimate IMO.
I'm buying my wife a 2008 Acura TL for Christmas. The key is, get them what they want so they can't complain when you go and buy a Shelby GT500;)

I hope you don't live where there is snow... Seriously - I love my TL (05) it is great driving and I put 35K on it every year, but snow / sleetand unfortunately it sucks. Upgraded to $800 set of tires to try to fix the issue - no can't do... Same issue for a buddy of mine that has the car...
No snow - get it! Snow - get the MDX / RL (if you have the money)
In regards to giving the ps3 to your gf - do it. If she thinks it is is way more than she should have spent then she will make it up to you someway :). Now if it is a huge financial sacrifice that you can't afford - then maybe not. If you can afford it do it - relationships that lasts is about sacrificing for the other one sometimes it is a video game - sometimes not having sex with some other hot chick you meet in the bar :)
My fiance bought me a PS3 last year for christmas and she got me Resistance and a couple little things. We had been together for a year and a half then. I felt bad that she had spent so much on me, I had spent maybe $150 on her. We are both cool with it and we do not stress over how much a gift is worth. We are tight on money this year and I don't think I'll be getting anything crazy like that but you will be trading in games so that will cost a lot less. I would try to ebay the games tho, you will probably get more.
