I really thought Gamespot took a dump on KillZone 3. They said the story was bad, and how it took away from the action with stupid board meetings. Good story isn't always about run-and-gun, its also about what the Helghast and ISA are doing besides shooting.

*raises hand* here. Anyway, I haven't played the game yet so I obviously don't know if the cons of the review are true, but if so, the score is fair :S

They only needed to do one thing to make the story good: Kill Rico.

Agreed. Wrong guy died in KZ2.

*raises hand*. no i am kind of upset too, i hate all the bashing on Killzone's story. i actually enjoy a good action sci-fi story and i feel like guerilla has put a lot into this universe. there is more to the story than the cutscenes and the characters. there is an overarching story all the way back to 2004 with the release of the first one. and ever since than i have been invested to see how the current war will end between the two planets. i've also loved every step of the way there. i just dont see how one man not liking the story can bring it down. i think this game will have deserved a 9.5 just like other x360 AAA titles that had terrible lameass derivative stories.

Sure story is something that's subjectiv, but the reviewer had other cons he listed and those are things you can't just ignore, they have to affect scores. I'm not going to talk about x360 titles since this here is the PS3 board

Most of the review they just pissed and moaned about the story. Black Ops's story wasn't so hot either and it got a 9.0.

I was just playing the open beta, and am absolutely loving the multiplayer. i love the classes and the unlock system. and it looks fantastic as expected. But i think the reason people dismis the story is because they never played Killzone 1, which i actually do love, it was one of my favorite ps2 games. but that was the setup for the whole plot, along with the psp killzone which i also played. KZ3's story is party of a larger story which is oft forgotten. the story in whole a fantastic dark hard-sci fi plot. I just don't think the reviewers understand the whole story. i would be satisfied with a 9, but an 8.5 does feel like a cheap shot albeit still a score called "great"

1. 8.5 is hardly a critical bashing. GS had plenty of good to say.

2. Just because they chose to show that doesn't mean it's executed or written well.

Hmmmm... I had a premonition that people would begin to riot as the game went public. The closed beta was underwhelming to say the least, when compared to the brilliance of KZ2's online component, and I thought to myself "Wow is this gonna tick some folks off"...

... whomp, der' it'is!

But in the case of these reviews, I thought we would see a LOT more crying about how That Other Uber-Popular Shooter scored a half-point higher. "What do you mean, 'Plops was a better game' ?!?"

It of course, isn't... but people take most reviews like Moses got them from a Burning Bush...

... I still think the review is a good, solid, high score, even if it isn't very promising to us out here in the fan-base as the Second Coming of the FPS World we hoped for.

8.5 is a great score. People should be happy it did well and not complaining that the guy who gave MGS4 a 10 biased against the PS3.

Joystiq said the same thing, the online wasn't very impressive when I was in the closed beta either. All in all, they made it a more mainstream game, which is pretty disappointing. I'm probably going to wait for a price drop before picking it up.dk00111

If the story is worse than KZ2 I can see dropping some points from it. The story in KZ2 was so bad that it actually pissed me off. I don't know why they are so incapable of hiring a good writer with their budget or recognizing when it is soooo awful.

I'm fine with an 8.5 for it, BUT if you're gonna start deducting points for bad story how the hell are the Halo games scoring 9.5s?

Having played through every HALO game since CE and really liking the series I must say that the "story" is the most overrated piece of **** of any fps game out there, from the steroetype marines... the tedious one-liner machine that is masterchief to the Grunts shouting "I'll get you, you big Jerk!" it makes me wanna throw up. BE CONSISTENT, deduct points for bad story for every game.

AND as the case was with ME2 for the PS3, deduct points for "people who might not have internet may miss out..." on games like Halo, CoD, KZ3 for missing the multiplayed mode.

The other thing is its one guys opinion. Everyone acts like that .5 difference is earth shattering. If the fact that one guy thinks that one game is .5 points better than another bothers you, you need to get a life.

Opinions vary and I am able to form my own opinions about which games are good or bad. I think a lot of games that are reviewed high on GS are overrated and a lot of games are underrated. These guys are human beings--not video game God's issuing decrees from on high. The ONLY thing that matters is if you like the game.

give me a break. gamespot is biased against the ps3?. quit crying. every time a ps3 exclusive doesnt get a freakin 10 on this site all the fanboys cry about how gamespot is so biased against the ps3. why'd they give mgs4 a 10? and yeah halo's story isnt the greatest but when you compare their characters and story to killzone's it makes halo's look like a charles dickens novel.
