If a date is not released on gran turismo 5 at e3 i swear to god i will go up to sony and demand it myself its ridiculous how long this game has taken to make. I can appreciate the fact that its going to be a huge game with so many cars so it is going to take along time but i think its starting to take the mick now.

They're just following 3D Realm and Squaresoft's example of taking 5+ years to develop a game.

Indeed something has to be done! not that it's related to this but remember when GT4 was delayed b/c they wanted to have an online mode but upon it's final release it wasnt anywhere in sight and all those delays where for nothing. Lets just hope that doesnt happen with GT5 and their attempts to add a damage engine.

@thetaguru a damage engine why did they decide to make this so late. If they really wanted to add one why didnt they wait till the next game it kinda explains the delay but i suppose they didnt want to make a rubbish damage engine. @flatbattery yeah and its really a shame its one of the most important franchises in sony and if sony doesnt do something about it gran turismo is going to get very unpopular very quick.

I agree it has been a ridiculously long time, but I want them to take as much time as they need to make a top notch racing game. Gran Turismo is like the epitome of racing games so I'm sure they will deliver a AAA title when it's ready

Either way, when and if it is released, the ends of their development process and time will most likely not justify the means. It is taking so damn long, and I highly doubt their sales will be record breaking; and after 5+ years of development, you require record breaking sales.

I totally forgot about this game, when was it announced? 2 years ago or so? more? but many games these days are announced way too early, remember Home? (even though it's not a "game") and it's still in beta stage and missing features that were talked about

I dont care how long it takes them just as long as the wait is worth it. i would rather wait a extra year and have a GREAT game than have a good one now.

Yeah but couldn't they have figured out for themself that a damage engine is a must these days. Honestly how can it take this long to make a driving game, it has got to be the most simple genre to make after the fighting genre? I don't see how they think they will make a profit off a game that has been in development for this long, I don't even want to think about how much it must have cost to make.

Umm, in gaming, damaging licensed cars is something that has not been done before. Polyphony has to seek out all the car manufacturers to get permission to do this. Also, simulators take a very long time to make.

rumor has it that GT5 will make an appearance at E3 with a huge blowout and release date possibly for this year. Rumor also has it that GTpsp will also make an appearance and launch simultaneously. I forget where I heard this but it seemed like reliable info esp the GTmobile part as part of the big psp push
