Because it has no blood and gore atall? Because it has fmv's like budoikai 1? Or just because... You know... Its on PS3 and 360 istead of PS2...?gekidami
Lol. The only way I'd buy this new dbz: bl is if my girl bought it.....at $20. It just doesn't bring what it should to the table in my eyes.
I thought it was ok but that was only like half of how the fight really went. Where was freeza's destructo discs??? He is suppose to get split in two! Also, there better be a way to skip those in-fight-cutscene cause it did get annoying in the demo.Zidaneski
There was a way to skip them...press "start".

No, that only worked for the scenes before and after the fight. I mean...DURING the fight like when Raditz goes off about Goku focusing his powerlevel.
All I have to say to Atari/Toei or whatever
COME UP WITH NEW MATERIAL! I'm a hardcore Dragon Ball fan and I haven't bought anything past Budokai 3 (didn't own 2, but I did own the first) cause I feel that's all I really need. How many times do you have to constantly replay the show OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again? If I wanted to save the world from Cell or Frieza, I can easily just play Budokai 3. Why should I have to waste another 60 or 70 bucks for the same game?
well this game could VERY VERY easliy be run on a ps2...everyone with half a brain knows this is a last ditch effort to keep the company afloat....they were thinking of claiming bankruptcy but instead brought this out....with the same grahpics and same fighting engine as a game that came out 5 years ago....and then they have the nerve to call it a "next gen" dbz game....GARBAGE! a dbz game on the ps3 should have been AMAZING and ever since i heard about ps3 that was one of the titles i wanted to play on it....but no they let us down and bring out this slapped together game containing peices of the old games....and then call it "next gen"??? ive boughten all the other dbz games that have come out since like 1996...snes gameboy psp ps2 ps1 everything...and this one im not getting...simply because they are trying to trick people...this could easily be for the ps2...and if it was then i would get it for sure on launch just like ive done with the last titles...but because they are calling this a "next gen" dbz game when truthfully it could be run on ps2 or psp i wont be getting it...a very very big letdown for me cause i have been waiting YEARS like 4 or 5 years to see what a dbz game on the ps3 would be like...and this is what they come up with??? they should have just claimed bankruptcy....steve4200
This is such a waste of time, but it will probably sell at least half a million between both systems which is sad. Budokai 3 is still king of the 3d dbz games. They could have easily made it like budokai 3 in full plus more stuff, but they want to milk it on ps3 like they did on ps2. Next year they will put the buu saga back in and call it burst limit 2 with no extra moves.
The best DBZ games every made per system are as follows.
NES/Famicom Dragonball z 3 and gaiden
SNES/Super Famicom DBZ Legend of the Super Saiyan and Super Butoden 2
PS1 Ultimate Battle 22 and the ultimate dragonball legends (most people refer to it as just legends mostly)
GBA legacy of Gokou 2 and Bukuu Tougeki
PSP Shin Budokai 2
PS2 Budokai 3 and Super DBZ

I liked the NES Dragon Ball Z RPG game (won't say how, but I played a translated one) It worked on a card based like system. Well, not really. You just basically choose your attacks in card form and the character does it (like a warped Final Fantasy attack menu)
For an NES game, it was pretty decent and Raditz was HARD. Your random battles were Saibamen and you could only move in a block radious in the over world each turn. Though I never really played it much past Gohan's training though and that was years ago.
This is a fan's game. I love the music and presentation... and the gameplay is no slouch either. I'm actually considering picking this up (have it preordered). You get a shirt and a dvd with it too ;)

GT had great characters and the whole character communication was cool. But the controls were gawd awful.

It was good for it's time. I played it back in the late 90's.

ever heard of line break bud?
no burst limit is easy the best dbz fighting game, period.
GT was alright, but I didn't like the moves on a few of the characters and that is why I like UB22 better even though the super moves look like the Haduken from street fighter. There were too many gokou's and they all had the same moves. the 2 little gokous were identical and all 4 adult gokou's were the same. The only thing I liked about GT better than UB22 was the fact that the build up mode actually gave you a number for how strong you were. Also there was no point in picking the regular saiyan versions of certain characters. There was no way to save the characters you earned from arcade mode in the JP version of final bout. You needed to do the code each time, unless you saved them in build up. Freeza was a very lackluster character in final bout. They didn't even have super 17 pr Omega shenron in the game. They should have had some characters. There was basically only 10 and the credits for the game took way too long.
at least someone did not comment on hyper dimensions being the best on SNES.
It doesn't do the series any real justice. Like the 2nd guy said, no blood or gore. N the fighting seemed to choppy to me when I played the demo, it didn't flow like the series did. And some parts are jus to weird in the game, like Piccolo, he had an arm when he killed Radditz, n Freeza had his whole body there. Yamcha wasn't lyin' in a pool of blood or anything. Not coo'.
I'd be impressed if you actually had to avoid Freeza's disks for a certain amount of time while leadin' it back to him to cut him up. It'd seem more true to the series. They should go ahead and make a M-Rated version, or a Teen rated version of the game to do the series any real justice.
lulz at crying about blood.... no dbz game... ever... EVER, has had Frieza cut in half, or Yamcha lying in a pool of blood... for that matter in the anime Yamcha wasnt in a pool of blood, so why would he be in a Teen rated game?.. there is blood, you see it on Goku and Gohan with they are all battle damaged.. there is your blood, get over it..
gameplay wise, its better then Shin Budokai 2 which is leaps and bounds better gameplay wise then Budokai 3, and the Drama Pieces move the story along in a nice new way that is so refreshing.. B3's story was such a joke.. "ok new story idea, lets have still pictures of the characters... and a TEXT bubble... nothing recreates the anime quite like a text bubble amIright?!?!?" so the way they are telling the story is great...
for people pissing and crying about the character count, the last 3 dbz games, were NOT fighting games... EVERY character had the same combo's with different animations.. that was Spike, this is Dimps.. the guys from B1-SB:AR who make a fighting game with cancel combos that make it rival any other "true" fighter, VF, Tekken, whatever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJZjIsWpF8Mstarts at about 0:30 ... obviously a deep fighter.. in any event, this game will be a great DBZ title, much better fighting game then B3, and BT3 (which was more of a fan service then a real game) and a day one pick up, as well as MGS4
