here is the perfect example as to why we don't get sneak peaks at games while they are still in development. http://xbox360.qj.net/Activision-defends-Transformers-The-Game/pg/49/aid/86255 even though it is about the 360 version, the game is also coming out for the PS3 so I posted it here. so please look past teh "360" and focus on the article itself. Activision gave CVG(Computer and Video Games) a sneak peak at the early stages of the development. and guess what CVG did? posted an article talking about how the visuals didn't look that great and how the environment looked bland. How stupid can they be? Activision had to come to their defense and say that the physics system isn't finished and a majority of animations and reactions are implemented yet. We complain about not having information on alot of games. This is the reason.

I don't either....but I was really looking at the bigger picture. I believe this is why we don't see much about games until they are almost finished. {insert game developer/publisher} allows {insert game site} to see a sneak peak of an early development of {insert game}. {insert game site} blasts {insert game} for not looking that great. that's really what I am talking about. I can guarantee you that Activision won't show this game again until it is almost finished.

Lol, funny. Who really was going to get Transformers anyways besides the fanboys? I dont think this is the reason, since a lot of PS3 games with gameplay footage look great, and there are no complaints.

so where is killzone? where is white knight story? where is the gameplay footage from all the great games coming out at the end of the year? Studios won't release them because of crap like CVG.

I don't know if it still happens, but up until a couple of years ago, most gaming websites, (including this one) would post reviews of games before their release. This allowed the general public to get an unbiased view of the game before making a purchasing decision. Then I remember that there was a lot of hype around Tomb Raider, Angel of Darkness for PS2. Eidos did not release the game to anyone ahead of schedule. I bought it, played it for about two hours and.....well you can guess the rest. It hasn't seen the light of day since. The title of of this thread should be "This is why we SHOULD get "sneak peaks" at games" If a developor wants to sell alot of a product then that means they have to hype it before release. And hyping a game without sharing a playable version of it shows a lack of faith in their product. It seems that the theme of this thread is that the developers are shooting themselves in the foot by allowing previews of crappy games, however I think that they should do MORE of this because it would allow two things. 1. It keeps me from dropping $60 on a crappy game, and 2. It gives the developers a chance to get some real feedback on their product before they sink a lot of capital into production, shipping, and release.

You don't build hype by not showing anything about the game. You build it by showing teasers, trailers and maybe a game demo.

You can built up anticipation... and a person imagination is far greater than CGI therefore by not release the trailer, people's imagination will run wild.
