Might be cool. I personally am already sensing failure though. The game looks really generic to me. And I wouldn't be surprised if they bit of more then they could chew with the 256 person multi-player. raven_squadIts funny that you're not hyped about this game. I really thought your name ws Raven_squad because of the playable faction in MAG. Guess I was wrong. :o
[QUOTE="Diddies"]I believe each team is going to be divided into 16 8 man squads, with each of them commanded by one squad leader.I think it will be cool because they said that there will be 16 groups of 16 with 4 generals who command the team on what to do.

No...They said it was 8 squads of 16 members on each team.

I believe each team is going to be divided into 16 8 man squads, with each of them commanded by one squad leader. Yes, its definately 8 man squads with a team leader. There will also be someone over each team with some other guy over them. Its supposed to be a really well put together rank and command system. Pretty much like the actual military. What I like about the game is the diversity in the missions, and how each squad has a different objective to help their faction succeed. Like each faction will have defensive squads to protect major hotspots like anti-aircraft turrets and stuff like that. They'll also have offensives that are sent to take out important stuff across enemy lines like weapon stores and what not. Basically, its not the same old capture the flag BS. ;)[QUOTE="Doolz2024"][QUOTE="Diddies"]

When did they say that? I thought each team would consist of 8 man squads...[QUOTE="Doolz2024"][QUOTE="Diddies"]

"The game supports up to 256 players who will participate in an all out war broken down into 8-men squads. Each squad will be led by a squad leader who is promoted through the ranks. Players can also be promoted to General/Commander status and have the power to view battlefields to send commands out to the squad leaders "............................. read this here:.......... http://gamer.blorge.com/2009/02/22/09-blockbusters-god-of-war-iii-mag-and-alan-wake-redefine-gaming-landscape/I believe each team is going to be divided into 16 8 man squads, with each of them commanded by one squad leader. I guess I am wrong this time lol. I guess this is what I getfor making fun of you.lolI could of swore that I heard in an interview that it was total of 16 squads with 16 men each.
Back in my PC game days there was and still is a fantastic multiplayer game called: Battlefield 1942 and pretty much every iteration that followed later on.
Large scale war where you controls many vehicles and play as a team.
I believe MAG will push Battlefield as successor in many ways. I'm quite exited knowing Zipper Interactive is handling the project.
Its seems like a cool idea but if they are splitting everyone up in groups it seems to me like it will be playing any other FPS and it will feel like it's just 6vs6 or so.
NO, dude, you have to look at the whole picture here. You're in a team of 8 dudes. There are 8 more dudes to your left and right. And then over a hundred more dudes in front of you with guns blazing. The maps are large enough to hold all the players, but small enough to keep everyone close and the action tight. After you break different enemy defensives and get closer and closer to the objective your spawn points mover further in, so you keep coming right back to the action everytime. You might have to take out some snipers in a tower or something, and there might me two teams of dudes on the way to their own objectives and once they cross your path you get to take them out. The enemies will be all over the place. They will just have different objectives. So even if your squad has nothing to do with what my squad is doing if you come between me and my mission objective I will blow your head off! :) Just listen to some of the interviews Zipper has done. They are really doing everything possible to keep this game as thrilling and entertaining as they can. And with 256 players on the field there's no room for boredom. ;)Its seems like a cool idea but if they are splitting everyone up in groups it seems to me like it will be playing any other FPS and it will feel like it's just 6vs6 or so.

[QUOTE="Nephilim83"]Well, I knew you were. Just had to break out some proof. ;)Doolz2024lol i was hoping someone would post some proof. i'm on my PS3 right now, so getting links to stuff isn't that easy... Dude, I didn't think anyone actually used their PS3 as a web browser. I didn't like the way the screen looked. Of course I didn't have a keyboard either. I play games on the PS3 with this computer in my lap, so I can enjoy the PS3 and surf the net all at the same time. I usually get owned, though, when I start looking for links and stuff.....:(

Yeah I'm sure it'll be epic. It comes out like a month before MW2, so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy it before you're yanked away by that other epic online shooter coming out this year. :)I hope its as awesome as it looks. Ill play it as long is it comes out before MW2.

I really thought your name ws Raven_squad because of the playable faction in MAG. Guess I was wrong. :o You thought the guy got to level 28 with 20000+ posts within the last year. The earliest footage of MAG was shown at last years E3 and I don't even think they talked about the various factions at that point :P But my opinion is very similar's to raven squads. I don't think Zipper expected the genre to be as over-saturated as it is today (3 years ago) when they started development, which makes it a lot more difficult for them to be successful and bring something new to the table. Hopefully it works and its slightly different from the other offerings (because then I will likely purchase it). More enjoyable games for everyone are never a bad thing!
well yeah...since you have a terrible connection, of course it will lag. It won't for most people, because most people don't have connections that are that bad. no offense, just sayin... ;)I think its going to lag like hell on my connection (512k). :(

I can't wait for the customisation of the recruit you control, from my magazine I heard it was roughly like Fallout 3, where you have diffent catagories of skills and you choose what you want to level up. Havn't seen many games that do that in games with guns.
The set up is this 8 x 4 x 4 = 128. There are 8 people in 1 squad andthere are 4 squads in a platoon so that's 32 people. There are 4 platoons so that makes 128 people on 1 side. You start of as a recruit for the squads, then you become squad leader, then you next step up is platoon leader and eventually you will become the OIC (Officer In Charge) who takes charge of ALL 128 players!
