thoughts on Resistance 2

So i bought the game after much convincing, and here are my thoughts

Graphix: I thought they were pretty good nothing to complain about cuz i heard some people say they hated them. I think the scale of the game is awesome and def worth the graphics being a little worse

Overall i like the game a lot so far. The only thing i dont like is the weapons really.

I really loved Resistance Fall of Man,and was really looking forward to Resistance 2 as The-must have game of 2008,but when i played the online beta i was dissapointed with the graphics and was not going to buy the full game.Anyhows-I thankfully had a change of mind and went ahead and got myself a copy of R2-£10 cheaper than shop price(brand new)on ebay.And tell you wot!-You'd be MAD not to buy and play this Awesome game.So good in fact,that it inspired me to go back and replay the whole of R1 again.

Wasn't too happy with Resistance 2.. too much of it seemed like trial and error, which is fine for some games but it kills the flow and overall enjoyment for me. Also the ammo cap on some guns really bothers the hell out of me, especially the shotgun and magnum.. what bothers me is that his game clearly isn't aiming for realism, so why bother having a friggen low max with the ammo? And the graphics bothered me, yes, they are not everything, but I couldn't help but be distracted by how things look sharp in one part and then look awfully muddy in another.

Could've been a better game IMO. Hopefully I'll get what I wanted out of Killzone 2.

Nice to hear people like and talk about this game. I personally find the games storyline and weapons very interesting but the very foundation of this game's idea... the idea of it being based back before 1980's .. presumably during WWII or around that time or something is pathetic, a utterly piece of garbage - never bought this game due to it being based on that.. fighting aliens in back before 1980's with super duper weapons? Doesn't make sence and it doesn't flow with me.Fyrmest

Also Humans naturally learn to use something more efficiently if they are showed a more efficient way of doing it. In this case weapons, Chimeran brought efficient weapons so it's only natural for humans to learn to capture that efficiency and make weapons of their own. Another thing is most of today's technology(especially automobiles) were designed 10-20 years before they actual became mass-manufactuered. So who says that humans couldn't have had a Semi-auto battle rifle(the Marksman).

After owning the game since launch, i never really played it as i didnt like how they changed the game since the original; which i loved. But i actually forced out of boredem to play the first level yesterday.

But i feel that the graphics are ok like you said, but i feel that they are a bit rushed in some aspect as they dont feel finished.

The online they changed way to much by removing amazing game modes and features that were in the first, and to me, Insomniac didnt really listen to much feedback from the beta:(

Overall i feel they tried to hard on it, and they took away the cool moments & times that made the first game.

You guys are crazy. I think the game is definately in the top 5 best games for PS3. Its amazing

Tried to play Resistance 1 and its one of the worst shooters I've ever played

In my personal opinion, this game really blows. People say the graphical downgrade was worth the increase in 'scale' but I didn't really see any really huge environments (at the risk of being called a troll, I would compare the game to Gears of War 2, on this point, which had some enourmous environments with no apparent graphical hit). The weapons are nothing extremely special (I have always HATED the Auger; yay! aimhacks!!). Sound and music were decent, but not spectacular. As has been mentioned, low amounts of ammo were senseless, and often infuriating. Lame boss battles. Story is pretty damn cheesy some of the time, characters are poorly developed, some story points are never actually explained. As has been mentioned many times before, the game relies far too much on trial and error, with absolutely no good reasoning behind it. Some enemies will only be effectively damaged by the use of a specific weapon, for no apparent reason, while some other enemies are invincible for no apparent reason. And in respect to online multiplayer, it is frankly, terrible. The maps aare bland, the game modes are nothing really new, the character progression system is crap, and 60 players is not really that big a deal, especially on a cramped little map which already sucked with 30 people on it (we've been playing with that number for YEARS on PC, its not that different from having 30 players on a decently made map, the ONLY instance you should have more than 30-40 people on one map is when there is a large scale battle, not just cramming another 30 people onto pretty much the same map; think Battlefield series, that would justify having 60 or so people on one server, Resistance 2 can't). To sum it all up, this game is WAY overhyped, it is nothing special at all. I bought a PS3 for the exclusives I was excited about, Resistance 2 being one of them, and now I am starting to wish I had not bought into the hype. Here's hoping Killzone 2 wont be a let down.Deluhathol

there is just one weaopon i use when i play online

another day of facing off with R2 bashers! had it a couple of days ago, had a break yesterday... and here we go again!

i personally like it!

if you don't, i'm sorry for you and the money you spent.... try to trade it or sell it to someone else who could appreciate it more than you do.

move on... get another game and enjoy your PS3 life!

i played the game some more and tried to like it, but i just cant get into it. The boss fights are interesting, but its just the same old fps.

I think the reason everyone doesnt like it is because our expectations are so high. After playing an incredible game like MGS4 this game was just a total letdown
