Topic, trying to decide what system to get this on

It's the exact same on each so system choice will boil down to preference for online play.
I'm enjoying it so far- the addition of a caddie adds a bit of extra authenticity to it along with the building your way toward the Masters by starting as an amateur and working your way through the tours.
The new Cheat On Your Wife mode is pretty awesome. There is even a bonus game in that mode where you have to call up porn stars and tell them to delete their messages before she finds out. A nice time-pressured game mode.BrianB0422
I can't wait to see how they made this compatible with the Move controller.
I know it has 9 more courses on the wii version for a total of 23 right at purchase, i cant believe it costs you 50$ to get the birdie and eagle packages WTF EA! Do you have to have those courses to really enjoy the game? Yah i know i will want to play online too, the wii does not have any online play? It's the exact same on each so system choice will boil down to preference for online play.

Yeah those packages are a ripoff. If your choosing between 360 or PS3 I'd probably go with PS3, just because it gives you the OPTION of using the motion controller. I've gotten on the Wii a couple of times, but this year I got it on the PS3 for the 1st time and am glad I did. Haven't tried with the Move yet (even though I have Move), but just talking about the way Augusta looks in this game it's SPECTACULAR. It really seems like they really nailed all the countours on the Augusta course, and the ball reacts on the greens just like you would want them to reflect on the course. It's actually striking to me how much better August looks compared to every other course in the game,
As far as the game itself, my complaints:
-I really don't like the caddie feature, sometimes they recommend some completely stupid shots (i.e. you are 180 yards out which could be as little as a 6 iron to the green, and the caddy recommends you "layup" with basically a 80 yard lob wedge. It's annoying because even if you want to use their shots as a "starting point", if you go to "custom shot" half the time it starts you out aiming nowhere near where you'd want to aim. It ends up being an even bigger adjustment from the "default shot" than if they had no caddy feature at all. EA always does this kind of stuff with it's sports games where they try to market a "feature", and half the time it juts ends up being completely broken or pointless. Then they repeat the cycle with the next interation of the game and an all new "feature".
-The putting is completely off it seems to me, I always push to the right for some reason even using the regular controller. My controller might be off balance I guess
-Another issue with putting is on extremely fast greens (such as Augusta), Even if you are putting UPHILL, it will have you place your aim like 6-8' short of the hole on a 30 foot put - I'm talking rediculously short of the hole like it's supposed to be as lighting downhiller. But according to the grid it's an UPHILL putt. I don't care how fast the greens are, if your putting uphill you should always feel like you are aiming beyond the hole. It just seems weird to me to always be aiming SHORT on fast greens.
-When you play in the Masters Tournament, it strips out your ability to put any spin on the ball, or use the "power boost" to get an extra 10% distance. Normally this is associated with the difficulty you are playing at, but for some reason even if you are playing on normal or pro difficulty this ability is stripped out when you play the masters (don't know if it's just the masters or for all "majors"). I don't understand why they would take that part of the gameplay out just for the Masters. Again, I understand why they wouldn't want you bombing 400 yard drives and doing whatever custom spin you want, but you should at least have a little in reserve or be able to conrol you spin!!! I like to use the power boost if I'm in between clubs.

You don't have to have those courses to enjoy the game. But it's really "in your face", because as soon as you progress to the PGA Tour season, like your 2nd or 3rd event will be a course you do not have. You have no choice but to "skip" the event and every other event that is missing the DLC course. Supposedly only 6 of the courses used in tournaments are missing. It's still rather lame if you ask me, I've always hated DLC and this is a perfect reason why.
I stopped buying Tiger six years ago, when EA started messing up the NASCAR franchise and making their intentions of DLC known, and the posts in this thread have completely arrested any interest (which was, for me, very high given the inclusion of Augusta FINALLY) in purchase. Thanks to the various posters, you saved me some cash. I used to be a huge fan of this series, now I can't wait for EA to lose it's strangle-hold on Tiger.
What a shame.
Funny, how the release of the first non-EA Sports NASCAR title in a decade, on the exact same day, also saved me the money (I couldn't afford both, and the new company got my vote of confidence. Very happy with hte new NASCAR game, BTW!)

This is the 1st one i've bought for PS3, and honestly despite the DLC I would highly recommend the game if you enjoyed past tigers. I don't know why I felt like rattling off my main complaints, hopefully you didn't take that as me implying it was poor a poor effort by EA. On the contrary I think it's great package overall. Hell it's TOTALLY WORTH IT for Augusta alone IMO and that's basically what made me get it. I mean it DOES include 14 courses plus even the Augusta Par 3 course on top of that which is a neat addition, since up until a few years ago when ESPN started televising the Par 3 tournament basically nobody would ever even see the Par 3 course. So it's not like the content is weak compared to what it was in the old PS2 days. It's only weak when you compare to what the Wii has which has always been 20+ courses.
In my case, I basically got the game for $5 off AND it came with $25 bonus. So that basically leaves me with some leeway to get some DLC and not really feel like I got gipped. I'm not in a hurry though, I'll at least wait for a sale or something. I really do hate the entire concept of DLC and usually stay away, but if I play this game enough long term I'm thinking of an exception here. I would apply the same logic if I were to pick a game up in the bargain bin. If I get a bargain bin game and REALLY like it, then I might splurge a little on DLC. In that case it's a win-win for player and developer. It's just hard to justify release day DLC, if you're going to ask $60 for the game and then ask $40+ for DLC to complete the game that seems a little aggressive.
No it wasn't your post specifically, Chalupas, in addition to my derision brought on by the NASCAR franchise, I also felt that the "Fight Night Round 4" experience I had (where just about every aspect of the game came as unlockable via pay disc-DLC) also brought me to that conclusion. The idea that anything in the career mode has to be skipped because I hadn't purchased the content, and the subsequent effect it has (even just mentally, because I don't like skipping career events. Call it OCD if you like), is just unwelcome on my game shelf anymore.
Respect to ya, Mr. C! I always enjoy your input in a thread!
:)
I've been playing the PS3 version with the Move and it's a lot of fun. I have to assume Wii also has motion support, but probably worse graphics (though it has extra courses apparently, which I didn't know). From personal experience I'd say PS3, but it's probably a toss up between either version. Just don't get it on 360.
