Oh yeah, but if you are planning on getting a PS3 (which I highly reccomend) you should get the 80 gb

the 40 gb has a lot of downgraded features, also you should wait until the 120/160 gb PS3's come out this spring, they come with Dualshock 3 controllers and PSHome

The 40 gig supports both but it's also stripped down system over the other systems. It has no PS2 support and no card readers of any kind and it only has two USB ports instead of four like the other SKU's.

40gigs are only missing bc, 2 usb slots, and SD card readers. . .also they arent making 120/160gigs they just changed the 80gig so it has better bc and releasing it with MGS4 and a Dualshock 3

I think it's better to get the new 80 g model with MGS4 because you basically get a free game with the console plus it's probably the best game for the ps3 unless it ends up garbage

Yeah, I would have loved to buy the Metal Gear bundle but I can't afford the price. I'm going for the 40gb, even if it's gimped. I don't care about the backward compatibility and the other stuff. All I want is to play PS3 games.

I don't see sony upping the HDD after all i've read that they lose money on each console, (don't ask for link i've read it before) so if 80 gets cheaper they lower the cost of manufacturing, and lower the dollars lost.
