i'm thinking about a ps3 coz of some exclusives i really want but i have a few qs. however, i'm short on cash. I'm thinking about importing one coz the UK prices are ridiculously expensive compared to US or Japan, hence i'm thinking about getting an Asian/Japan version. I know games are region-free and i'm not bothered about watching blu-ray movies so i'm wondering if there'll be any issues if i were to use the ps3 in the uk? e.g. will there be any problems with dl content or will there be any problems with playing online in the EU/UK region only? Also, a key thing i wanted to ask about is the ps3 hardware problems? Are there any..because i know the warranty will be void in the uk for an import. Compared to the 360 i know the ps3 isn't anywhere near as problematic..but have there been much problems with the ps3? coz then it might not be worth the risk.. Anyone that has imported and can offer any advice will be much appreciated.

voltage won't be a problem as you can get a transformer to sort that out, i'm just more concerned about whether ps3 is known to have much hardware problems..

ive on only had my ps 3 for about 4 days so i cannot say how reliable they are. i will say i see alot more posts of problems at sonys site then at the gamespot forums. i see a post about a problem with a ps 3 at least once a day at the other forum.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board?board.id=ps3

seems to have more real users with real problems instead of just fanboys
