If you want full 1080p make sure you have HDCP and HDMI 1.3! this isnt the standard hdmi cable, they are the difference between full 1080p and regular 1080p. The ps3 is the only console with HDMI 1.3 capability so enjoy this because you might be missing out on some nice things.

Its one of the best if not the best HDMI cable on the market. 24k gold, HDCP and is only 1 of a couple HDMI cables that are capable of full 1080p all the time. I personally go large on my electronics when I go. I bought a 42" 1080p SHARP Aquos, Im not going cheap on it with my PS3. I love Ninja Gaiden and RR in 1080p. The Sharp Aquos that I have tells you what signal you are watching or playing in.

I just got everything too. Watched HellBoy, Apocolyco, UnderWorld Evolution and Resident Evil 2 yesterday on the TV, just insane in 1080p I found, compared to my 32" Samsung HDTV just on DVD with Monster Components. Hooked my computer up to the monitor and was blown away playing games on that.

The PS3 I am suuuper happy with so far. Got Virtua Fighter 5, RoM, Darkness, Ninja Gaiden and Ridge Racer and theyre excellent so far. Its my first console in my life to own too.

you wouldn't get a signal from your ps3 if the cable wasn't HDCP compliant

People please. Every HDMI cable is HDCP complient. HDMI 1.0 was capable of 1080p 60 and 1.3 is capable of higher resolutions and color depth. So in the end... if you have any HDMI cable it will do 1080p so don't worry. Sheeesh.

Just out of curiousity, when you play Ninja Gaiden in 1080p do you sometimes get blurry bands/strips across the bottom or middle of your screen? Trying to figure out if it's my TV, PS3, or just the way the game is.

Thank God someone who knows what they are talking about. A cable is a cable, Monster cables are just more expensive. They may last longer because of their coating, but the digital quality is the same.

I think its worth it if you want top quality and a cable that pushes a full 1080p signal. $120 on a cable is nothing if youre into PCs like me. It is a bit overpriced though , I agree. I work hard for my money, I dont wipe my ass with cash, hahaha. I always give me toys the best. I just work a little harder to get those things. If I have to put in an extra 5-10hours a week in at the office to get it, then I will.

I havent noticed any blurring in my game though.

That is the limitations of 60hz devices.

Not all Receivers/HDTVs have HDMI 1.3 spec. So, it wont matter until later when games start to use the extra bandwidth utilized in HDMI 1.3. Most HDTVs are 1.1 and some receeiver have 1.2. The 1.3 are rare. But they will come in the future. This doesn't mean that we wont be able to get full 1080p now. For uncompressed PCM and lossless audio in Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio formats, Blu-ray Discs support encoding in up to 24-bit/192 kHz for a maximum of six channels, or up to eight channels with at most 24-bit/96 kHz sampling. But beware that we'll have to wait for movies and games to use 1.3 to the fullest.

I have a $100 Interlink 400 Monster HDMI cable. I also have a $4.95 monoprice HDMI cable. Both look identical. I've tested them. Digital is digital. Either it's on or not. No one is saying that Monster cable don't make good cables. They are good built quality. But you don't need it. Acoustic Research at Best Buy have them around $49.95 if you NEED to buy a name brand. But even then. The Monoprice is good enough.

I hate to break it to you--but you've been had. PCworld.com did a study on HDMI cables. They used the high end $300+ Monster HDMI cables and the cheap $10 monoprice HDMI cables. The findings were surprising. Not only could the naked eye tell NO difference, but there high price calibrated machines could tell no difference whatsoever. The lesson here is that HDMI is digital 1s and 0s--as long as the signal makes it through the HDMI cable--you are good to go.

If you can, I would advise you send the Monster cables back and go with Monoprice.

HDMI isn't necessary for games. That's just a misconception (and a waste of money). For movies, yes. Games, no.

The "blurring" you are seeing is called "screen tearing" and is caused by the video of an output device running faster than 60hz. The next gen LCD TVs that run at 120hz will remedy this problem.

Umm the Monster CAbles produce a full 1080 signal the full the, where not all do that, but state themselves as 1080p cables. I watched a demo of it at the local store here in town. Yes they dont look different all the time, but one is prodcuing a full signal and one isnt.

I personally could careless what you people think. Sorry for buying a Monster CAble, I see people hate on them in here. hahaha.

I think he said it only happens at the bottom of his screens. That wouldnt be if it was screen tearing. The tearing would happen all over the textures on the main screen.

If you want full 1080p make sure you have HDCP and HDMI 1.3! this isnt the standard hdmi cable, they are the difference between full 1080p and regular 1080p. The ps3 is the only console with HDMI 1.3 capability so enjoy this because you might be missing out on some nice things.bear1961

Ok, let me correct you--so you don't confuse everyone here.

First off, all HDMI cables are HDCP compliant. If they were not you would not be able to view any HD-DVD or Blu-ray movies.

Secondly, you can get HDMI 1.3 cables--but you don't have to. The reason being is that currently there are no HDMI version 1.3 TVs on the market. If you want to you still can, but your tv won't benefit--as it won't accept the advantages that version 1.3 offers. In the end it really does not matter as version 1.3 cables cost the same on Monoprice.

Thirdly, 1080p is 1080p. THere is not such thing as regular and full 1080p. The number 1080 is the lines of resolution of your tv--meaning you have 1080 vertical lines of resolution and 1920 lines of horizonal resolution. The p stands for progressive--meaning that in one frame the entire screen refreshes. Some tvs have an i on the end which stands for interlaced. This means that half of the screen refreshes per frame and then the other half refreshes during the next frame. What this means is that progressive tvs will show a smoother image as the picture is refreshing twice as fast.

Lastly, all version 1.3 really is is the ability to have what is coined "true color". All this is that the color spectrum is widened and now it can send even more vibrant colors through the cable digitaly. Will you be able to notice a difference when version 1.3 HDTVs hit the market--that is debatable.

Question: Do I need v1.3 HDMIâ„¢ in order to see the real 1080p or hear the Dolby True HD/DTS Master HD soundtrack? Answer: No. v1.3 HDMIâ„¢ (see chart above) was released as a specification "framework" last summer for hardware and software creators who are now beginning to work on the next "next" generation of HD called 1440p. v1.3 products have not yet begun to ship and there is no reason to wait for that. v1.2 HDMIâ„¢ will handle all the data at 1080p and the soundtracks too, with plenty of headroom to spare. No need to panic about this. What you have now, even if its v1.1 HDMIâ„¢ will work fine with 1080p. http://www.pacificcable.com/HDMI_Tutorial.htm

[QUOTE="9mmSpliff"]Im running full 1080p with a Monster HDMI 400 cable. Damn freaking expensive cables though, $120cdn.9mmSpliff

why did you buy that cable? could of gotten a cable just as good, for A LOT LESS.

Sorry for buying a Monster CAble, I see people hate on them in here. hahaha.

Somebody can spend a whole lot of money..........

Others can spend a whole lot less money......

I personally could careless what you people think. Sorry for buying a Monster CAble, I see people hate on them in here. hahaha.

I explained all about 1080p in an above post. I am not sure what demo you saw in the store. I know there are very old HDMI cables that don't accept 1080p signals and only go up to 1080i--this may have been what the store was demonstrating.

Also note, I am not hating on Monster cables. I am just giving you the facts as PCworld has given us. I just hate to see people ripped off. Every store I have ever shopped in is always trying to pedal the HDMI uber expensive monster cables--as there is a hefty mark up on them. Therefore, the store that was showing you a demo may have been doing shady tactics and lying to you in order to get you to bite. Personally, I have witnessed Best Buy doing just that.

Trust me, and if not trust PCworld.com--they have no reason to lie. I have a strong background in the world of electronics, and have done extensive homework on all of this. I own a 60inch 1080p set and wanted the best too, but after my homework--I found Monster to be a rip off.

Again, I am no Monster hater. They do make the best component cables on the market. They are expensive too, but it is a analog signal--which can suffer from interferance, crosstalk, signal degredation, "noise", etc. Cheap comonpent cables will not get the job done, whereas Monster does a fantastic job. However, these things don't matter in the digital world--it either works or it does not.

And please do care what we think--as we are trying to educate consumers from being ripped off. Again, don't take my word for it--check out PCworld.com's tests. They have scientifically proven that there is NO difference between uber expensive or cheap HDMI cables as far as signal qualites go. They did mention that Monsters cables were more sturdy--so if you were going to be ripping them out of a wall or jumping up and down on them, that they would take the abuse--whereas the cheap cables would not. But I don't see anyone doing that--as once cables are plugged into expensive HDTVS--they usually just sit there.

Thanks for helping out with real facts. I tried to clear everything up a ways back but it's nice to have other educated posts.

Any time. I always say that an educated consumer will always make the correct choice. And whenever I can, I will help people make the correct choices. I loath it when I see people getting ripped off. We have all been there at some time or another and it is not a good feeling. So I always make it a point to help educate people, so they don't have to experience that awful feeling of finding out that you were had. Not to mention that if everyone knew--companies that are ripping people off would stop doing this, or go out of business--which is a win-win for the consumer.

Some People are ignorant!

First off, I have a friend that is a manager at Circuit City. They pay $18 for a monster 6 foot HDMI cable. They gouge the prices on the cables because they don't make much money off the TV Sales.

Second of all. HDMI is a digital signal sent through the cable. It either works %100 or it doesn't work at all. IT IS NOT A ANOLOG. cable wont matter. IF you think that the gold plated is so important. why don't you gold plate your power cable. maybe your not getting the true color out of your TV do to loss of power? You just cant admit they got ripped off. Google search HDMI cables and price gouging and you will see many websites that do comparison between cheap and monster cables.

hat kind of blurring? Like it streaks and looks runny? or it just cuts in and out? Never the top half of the screen?9mmSpliff

Just like an 2 inch band looks funny once in a while. Its random from very bottom to middle. Never near the top. I was told on another forum that it's screen tearing. It occurs every few to 5 minutes though.

Moster is some of the worst quality cables I have ever worked with, total crap. Radio shack and monoprice make much better cables for about 1/10th of the price. 1080p is 1080p..man this thread is just full of ignorance and misconception.....the only thing one accomplishes by paying $120 for an HDMI cable is emptying one's bank account that much quicker...there is no performance increase.

The only time one has to worry about a higher quality cable is in long cable runs (100ft+) where digital gitter can become a problem.

your about half right, but having an elite (360) it has hdmi 1.3 that is fact... so that statement is untrue.

but im about to upgrade to a sharp 32 inch full hd 1080p lcd, here before long, then ill get my ps3, and have both running in beautiful 1080p.

If you can, I would advise you send the Monster cables back and go with Monoprice.

dude thats what i've been saying, but everyone seems to think monster cables are so good, it might matter when it comes to analog cables, but not digital.

[QUOTE="9mmSpliff"]Im running full 1080p with a Monster HDMI 400 cable. Damn freaking expensive cables though, $120cdn.9mmSpliff

why did you buy that cable? could of gotten a cable just as good, for A LOT LESS.

Its one of the best if not the best HDMI cable on the market. 24k gold, HDCP and is only 1 of a couple HDMI cables that are capable of full 1080p all the time. you notice a difference when u compare to the 32inch, cause the 32inch is hooked up on component, which are analog cables. hdmi is hdmi, doesnt matter about what brand it is. several websites doing test comparing HDMI cables, and the $5 cables do just as good as the $100+monster cables.

[QUOTE="pettman1970"]People please. Every HDMI cable is HDCP complient. HDMI 1.0 was capable of 1080p 60 and 1.3 is capable of higher resolutions and color depth. So in the end... if you have any HDMI cable it will do 1080p so don't worry. Sheeesh.walton13

Thank God someone who knows what they are talking about. A cable is a cable, Monster cables are just more expensive. They may last longer because of their coating, but the digital quality is the same.

Not all cables are the same. There are comparisons showing the differences between certain cables and the differences are things like less artifacting and overall cleaner images with certain cables. Monster is a really good cable and it's durable.
